An unedited (maybe there should be some editing!) video of connecting the Pack KeepAlive board after you have opened up you HasLab proton pack pack.
See the detailed written instructions showing what you need to do to open up the pack. Mostly just taking out a bunch of small philips head screws. Keep ziplocks, egg cartons, etc. for all of the parts that will come off of the pack so you can get access to the electronics.
The KeepAlive kits are available here:

Hey there! Recently managed to get a (still brand new in the box) Haslab Proton Pack and after walking around with it on the convention floor I definitely want to try and mod it to make it better including a KeepAlive mod. Now this is the second I came across, the other being the Frutto KeepAlive mod. But if I read everything correctly, yours is better as you can still turn the pack off and on with the wand while the mod is active, am I correct in that? Another question I have is that I want to replace D batteries with a battery pack. I have been eyeing a small Lithium-battery Li-Ion 12 V 3000 mAh power bank so this fits in nicely next to the snack compartment. Would that be enough to for this mod? It's got a 12V output/input point and a 5V USB output point.

There is some issues around the D-cell support (the wand may not activate if the batteries drain a bit - more sensitive than it should be), so I sell this as a 12V only setup and the additional switch is not included or needed for 12V only operation. Turning the pack on/off from the wand is more complicated: If you have the Pack AND wand KeepAlive installed in the wand then yes, it just works and the wand is in control. If you only have the Pack KeepAlive, then when the red switch is on the pack is on the pack will be on. The wand will not turn it on and off. If you have the pack red switch set to off, then the wand can turn the pack on and off, but the wand powers off a lot on its own so it may get annoying having the pack follow the wand power. Many use the TanentCell 3000mAH battery. Works great and fits nicely. The USB 5V output is not used. Larger capacity TalenCell batteries may be problematic just due to their size. I also use generic "blue brick" style batteries with a power switch on the side and even a 9800mAh can be fit in about the same place as the 3000mAh TalentCell.

Would this work with the smoke mod?

Does the circuit for type D batteries also work for the 12v power bank?

is there any issues with the wand powering up and firing? I have the issue with another keep alive kit where once i hit the third toggle the wand shuts down like there not enough charge? Im using a talent cell battery pack for a power source

Fixed in my latest version but that was a problem with the first version of my Pack KeepAlive board. If you are using the 5V output of the TalentCell to replace the D-Cell batteries, that can contribute to the problem. There are variations in pack and wand power supplies so this shows up differently for different packs and wands. The issue is that the Pack normally uses the 6V (initial) voltage to generate about 4.2V out to the wand. As the battery voltage lowers below about 5V the wand voltage lowers due to the packs power supply design. Starting out at 5V (USB voltage) is marginal and the pack may not be able to provide the full 4.2V out to the wand. When you activate the wand, the rumble motor should also start up. This is a large current draw and the voltage can dip down as that surge takes place. The wand appears to be more sensitive than the pack to dropping voltage. The TalentCell also limits the current for the USB more than for the 12V output, so my board does not use the USB output. My new Pack KeepAlive board has separate power supplies for the wand and the pack. Their job is to take in the battery voltages (either from the D-Cell batteries that start at 6V and/or the 12V from the 5.5x2.1mm power jack) and provide 6V to the pack and 4.5V to the wand. This works with battery voltages much lower than the pack would normally operate at. As the batteries drain, there is no voltage change seen by the pack and it thinks it is working with a fresh set of batteries until the batteries are completely drained.

@@ghostlab42 so I would still be good with talent cell with your new version and if so where can I order it?

@DavesDimension It works great with the 12V output and connection cables that come with the TalentCell batteries. 5.5x2.1mm jack on the battery, not the USB connector. This looks almost too simple, lol. 2 questions...(1) by the time i saw the boards on ebay they were already sold out so will there be another production run in the future? (&2) if i have already swapped the Ds for a 12v recargeable batt, can i omit the 2nd toggle switch? Will that affect the functionality of the boards? Thanks again for all your hard work on this project! 🍻

1) Working on getting more out - should be in a few days or a week at the most. 2) Yes, you can skip installing/using the KeepAlive toggle switch if you only intend to use a 12V battery. The toggle is only there to disconnect the 4x D-cell batteries in the pack for longer term storage without draining the 4x D-cell batteries. Does not affect the 12V connection at all.

Do you know where I can find a OEM replacement main board for the haslab proton pack mine not working?
@ghostlab42
@ghostlab42 9 дней назад
I contacted Hasbro and was told they are not offering replacement boards to customers or repair shops. I have not used these, but GPSTAR makes replacement boards, and there are probably a few others. I do not know if these are only for damage replacements, or if they are replacing working boards - which would imply there could be some working boards available from those upgrades. I just have not seen any.

I am out of stock at the moment, and am working on a new revision to make the board work better with weak batteries. It may not be available until early next year if the testing of the prototype goes well. I offer them on eBay and GBFans For Sale section.

Do you sell a wand and pack keep alive? The ones that have to be installed on the wand? Playday_tng who’s a modder offers one that he does with a custom loom.
