In this video we show you what food to pack on a backpack hunt. It is important to have at least 4000 to 6000 calories depending on how hard you are working each day. I try and keep my daily food weight around 2 pounds or 900 grams.
Breakfast
Pkg of instant oatmeals + 75 grams of hemp, chia, & flax seeds
instant coffee or tea
Lunch
65 grams candy bar
100 grams of nuts
100 grams of sausage
50 grams of cheese
crackers
sweet peanut butter or something with high fat
Dinner
1 dehydrated meal
Chocolate for a treat!

one thing I love is a whole wheat wrap... wrapped over a sushi sea weed sheet, smothered in peanut butter. I never get tired of it for lunch and the dry wraps last a couple of weeks without spoiling. Also love the Reactor... I tried em all and that's the one I bring.

Thank you Dylan for this one. I always love seeing what others are packing for their backpack hunts. I think with all the gear talk we can get into, food preparation just gets pushed to the side in many cases.

FalcoDeDati I totally agree. People get really focused on cutting ounces on their gear and then take way too much food for the trip. Myself included in this!

Love seeing new videos, hope you can get some great new content this fall. EatWild has been really inspirational for me getting into hunting this year! See you guys in a workshop.

Lots of cool hunts coming this fall. Caribou hunt this August with a pro film team, and another team ready for the bison hunt this winter. Should be good

Is that an MSR stove kit?

Did the MSR logo give it away? :P

Boois Hoois I actually didn’t see the logo.

Yes it’s the MSR reactor system. I love it. It’s a little heavier than some of the other stove kits that my partners run but it is by far the most efficient for boiling water. Definitely our first choice if we’re going on a trip with two or more people
