It is so much easier to keep the cruise cabin tidy when you pack light also! I take a long black jersey dress for dinners and then add sparkly blouses, pashminas, and jewelry to mix it up. Have a great trip!
Have a wonderful trip Jen! I am leaving for Disney in 3 weeks and spent today planning my outfits. I am a heavy packer and love seeing your tips and tricks. As a plus-sized woman, my clothes simply take up more space so I don't ever see myself managing carry-on only. I also need to try and get over my compulsion to pack for every eventuality and special circumstance. That is a tough one to let go!
I find that even when I check a bag, packing more than I need adds to my stress so there are loads of reasons to keep things simple! Fewer choices, for me, helps me be less stressed. Not sure that makes sense?
I hear you but I am plus size also and fear that my luggage will get lost and I can't walk into a store and buy new clothes so I always pack with only carry-on. It's possible and i bring laundry strips just in case.
After my last cruise, I had wished I did carryon/carry off only. Luckily it was close enough that we drove but getting off in the port, they misplaced out luggage. It was such a stressful fiasco that I vowed carryon only next trip.
This is the exact scenario that goes through my mind when I think really is it such a big deal? YES it absolutely CAN BE. A few less things in exchange for peace of mind!
I can certainly relate to the happy/giddy feelings of pre-packing. I have a river cruise in October and I’m already putting stuff together. Makes me happy. Have a great trip!
Absolutely.Love how you have those dividers for clothing. When you hang them Upday one through day.7, absolutely amazing.Great idea never seen that before.Love it
Love this! We are going on a first time ever cruise this year, to the Mediterranean. Definitely doing carry on only. Would LOVE to see the video on cruise specific tips you mentioned you are going to make. Will watch for it! And I’m the same way. Packing is all about part of the fun anticipation of travel!!
I pack carryon only - either my rollaboard and my purse or a tote and my purse, depending on the climate. Hot weather just the tote. Since hot weather clothes pack small.
I recently went on a cruise with a carry on only and I still didn’t even wear all of the outfits I brought! 😂 and for disembarking, I let them take my suitcase for ease in the morning!
Thank you so much Jen! Have a great trip! This is so helpful for me. First, since magical express stopped sending bags, I have started travelling only carry on (with my Away carry on, packing cubes and everywhere bag).. I have also noticed packing carry on only has really eased my own travel anxiety (thank you for putting words to that---- I never knew other people suffer from this. I have no fear of flying-- its the entire process that makes me anxious). .Watching your method of packing is so helpful. Second, this video is helpful since my husband and I have decided we need a break from the parks and are getting ready to book our first Disney cruise. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!
Carryon only just works especially in cruise ship cabins. I wear my running shoes, pack thin flip flops and dressy sandals. Everything works off black and white neutrals. Evening wear is the sandals, clutch and dressy earrings with black dress or black pants and a dressy twinset that is black and lurex trimmed. Powder foundation over SPF saves liquid allowance space and works well in the tropics.
Totally agree! Evening wear is always black + white and I stick to the Rule of 3 for shoes, slacks, cashmere turtlenecks and V-necks, teeshirts , Bras, colorful scarves - I only take extra panties . My only problem is resisting the Girl Scout Be Prepared motto when it comes to makeup + medicines. Carry-on Only is very liberating!
We've sailed on about a dozen cruises. It's difficult to take what you need for a 7+ day cruise as carry-on only, particularly if the ship doesn't have self-serve laundry. We always add a hotel night before embarkation. Men - forget about bringing that sports jacket or suit for a formal night. Instead, substitute a shirt and tie plus a v-neck sweater. Coordinate outfits so that everything goes with everything. Limit packed footwear to 2 pairs. Also, limit your tech. And consider using packing cubes.
Yes, that cabin bag is seriously a game changer! Mark Alan even used one like that for our road trip when he switched from our car to the UHaul and it worked great! Have an awesome trip!
Oh, I'm excited! I'm taking the same or similar cruise in a few months with Disney. 5 nights and a night in Miami. Carry on only is exactly what I want to do. Thanks for the inspiration and looking forward to the outfits vlog when you get back!
Love this so much and so excited for you for your trip 😃🥰 can’t wait for the travel vlogs 😃 we are in Florida (from the UK) in Aug and I have been trying to convince my husband that we need to do a Disney cruise while we are there but I think it’s just going to be a little over our budget on top of the cost of our holiday😕 but I get to experience it all through your vlogs 😃🥰🥰 thank you for sharing xxx
Not sure if you previously talked about what you carry in your liquids bag. I’m trying to minimize what I liquids I carry - so much “just in case” items that’s never use. Thanks for any info you can give or if you could lmk what video if you’ve discussed previously. Have great trip!!
Man, I’m starting to feel like a traveling loser! I have a 29 day cruise in Northern Europe in Sept and I’m planning on one checked bag and one Wheeled carryon. I thought I was doing pretty good until I started watching some packing videos. 😂🤣. I still love your videos and have been binge watching your priors
So excited!! This was a great video! So excited to see your Lily in action 😍 also excited for the cruise videos…just cuz I don’t cruise doesn’t mean I don’t like watching you cruise 😂
I'm going to order the passport travel holder for gifts and looked it up on amazon. It has you put the vaccination card on the left where you put the passport and the passport back cover in the slit on the right so the passport can be opened without having to take it out of the holder. Just thought you may want to know that (but you're gone already and I hope you have a fabulous time on your cruise!) Thanks for the great video, as always.
I am five months out to my vacation and I am already mentally thinking of what I needed and what I am wearing? Its Alabama in June so a Hot climate so shorts, no sleeve tops etc. Maybe some new tops since they get funky because it being summer.
Hello Jen I’m a new sub. I found your channel from the should I start a RU-vid channel over 40. Loved that video it encouraged me to keep going with my channel. Alright let me get into this video.
I went to North Caroline In December and managed to pack for a whole week in a carry-on. Now, I am short, so I realize that I have an advantage but I even managed to pack my wool coat! Jen Lefforge getting more people to join the “Carry-On Only” club!
Hi, love all the information as a virgin cruiser. I’ve watched many vlogs where people have arranged to have bottled water in their cabin but I can’t find out how to do this, can you help? ❤
Hi Jen. Love how you detailed being able to fit so much into a carry on. I am thinking about purchasing the Away Bigger Carry On for myself (in addition to the Everywhere Bag). Which of the colors (Navy or Coast) do you think shows scratches less? Also, do you think it's worth getting the "flex" version just in case (for car travel, etc)? I tend to pack in bigger suitcases, but I want to try to scale down for shorter trips.
I know a lot of people really love the Flex version so if you plan to frequently check the bag (like on the way back from a trip if you've shopped, etc) it could be the perfect solution.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Thanks for your response. Good to know people like that extra space. I'd probably try NOT to check it, but might feel good to have that option if needed.
You are not the biggest packing nerd, because I have something similar to the white plastic dividers in your closet but mine have the days of the week and I use them to set out my outfits for the week on Sundays. :)
I leave next Thursday for a day in WDW and then a cruise on Disney’s Wish. Super excited. I am also a carry on gal (unless checking golf clubs), but I have a question: Do you check a bag at the cruise port or carry both your roller and personal item around the ship until your cabin is ready?
Great question and YES. As long as the bag can fit in the xray machine at the port (so anything that you would carry-on an airplane) you can absolutely just take it on with you. I've done this my last two cruises and it was great not having to wait for my bag.
Hi Jen, I know you have said before you travel with delta a lot. Are you a medallion member? if you are how often do you actually get complimentary upgrades?
I think weight of the carry-on is only one of the things I’d need to worry about, lol!!!!!!!!! If I’m traveling alone that is….!!! I’m only 5’0”!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD Über tiny and petite!!!!!!! So I more than likely wouldn’t be able to reach to put it up in the over head compartment lol!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully I’ve never travel alone, and will never travel alone!!!!!!!! Always either with my parents or my life partners!!!!!!!!!! Who all 4 of them are all well over 6’ in height!!!!!!!! Lol!!!!!!!!!! I’m 33 (tomorrow is my birthday and I’ll be 34!!!! Lol!!! Yay!!!!), and I’m still 5’0”!!!!!!!!! Lol!!!!!!!!!!! Also new subscriber here!!!!!!!!! Found you from The Neverland Family!!!!!!!!!! Subscribed to your 3 channels!!!!!!!!!!! Love the content!!!!!!!!!! Have an awesome day and week!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD ^,..,^\m/)0(
It's definitely not impossible. You have to plan things out accordingly so you only bring the essentials. Clothes can always be mixed and matched. Pack one or two pairs of shoes you don't mind wearing multiple times and you should be good to go!
Love that little crossover from target! I’ve done 11 cruises all on Disney. I’m a local so I travel with a backpack and small luggage bag for 3,4,5.,7day cruises. Looking at other cruises for 2023. Any suggestions- I’m a solo traveler.
I know a few lines do "single supplements" but I haven't tried any of them. My only other cruise was on Viking Sea (they're known for river cruises but also do ocean voyages) and it's pricey but AMAZING.
This is quite an old video so I'm not sure why I either didn't show them or you didn't see them, but I always take the same things - tennis shoes that I wear for travel, one pair of dress sandals and a pair of flipflops. Thanks for watching!
