Thanks! Hahahaha. I'm glad at least one person appreciated that. It pissed me off to no end, so I wanted others to know too =) Wish I had had more brands haha

Subscribed! This was very informative, thank you! Now I know not to lug around my pads when visiting. Can you do a video on medications we're allowed to bring to Japan? You mentioned ibuprofen but was wondering if any others are allowed in.

Question!! Are you actually allowed to travel back home for Christmas, as you mentioned in the video?
@ADreamInJapan
@ADreamInJapan 2 года назад
Hi! If you mean in the middle of corona, travel back to america is possible, but it will be subject to a few things until borders are normally open. Currently, your school or BOE MAY tell you you can't due to whatever corona-related concern. They may tell you, that if you catch corona and get stuck in your country you will burn through your paid leave and be unpaid until return. Some schools may not, and give you special leave. It will depend. But, VISA wise, you are solid. You are a resident, as long as you do the standard proceedures for leaving and reentering you can go home and return to Japan.

Yo, it's Melissa. Just wanted to add doctor's in Japan are very reluctant to give birth control for reasons other than your period is shit. Also, I remember getting 10 mg pain medication for a torn ligament in my ankle, and as someone who takes 400 mg for just headaches, it barely made a dent. Pain medication over the counter that is stronger is available, but it is definitely more expensive and come in far smaller quantities per pack compared to America.

Thank you Melissa! That's super good to note!! I forgot about that. I have heard that many people bring their American prescription as a way to show the doctor! So, it might be helpful to have that!

7:26 The japanese Deodorant isn't "Anti-Transpirant" which reduces sweating in the first place.. just as some Deodorants say "No Aluminium (salts)".. they are basically scented water with alcohol that is meant to kill some Bacteria on the surface (for the smell). That is why we feel it is not as 'effective'.. And yeah, it's unfair 😄 Asians having that Gene thingy where they don't produce that enzyme/protein(?) that the bacteria that produces the sweat smell love/need... 😊 This is actually very interesting to read up on.. and Koreans actually have it 'best' when it comes to this.

Cool to know. Yes, anti-perspirant and deodorant are very different things. I'm actually trying to find a zero waste company to replace the one I am using in this video, but so far I can't find any!

This is great! I'm preparing to leave soon and this has been incredibly helpful. Thank you! I haven't seen much mention but should school sandals be closed-toe? I have a pair of comfy open-toe wedges that would go with any outfit and still be professional in style.
@ADreamInJapan
@ADreamInJapan 3 года назад
Hi thanks for watching! Open toe is normally totally fine! Lots of female teachers wear (ugly-ass lemme tell you) wedge sandals and some male teachers even wear Birkenstocks or shitty sandals. Boys always wear socks with them, and girls always wear hose though. It’s probably smart to bring some knee highs or something to wear with the sandals- tho I doubt anyone will say anything if you don’t as long as your foot hygiene is good!! Good question!

What type of visa does it say on your passport? I've heard that Japan does not offer working visa to US Citizens.
@ADreamInJapan
@ADreamInJapan 3 года назад
Jet program participants are considered government employed “instructor” so that’s what our visa is. “Instructor “

when you stay for more than a year do you actually stay there or do you come back to the US and go back
@ADreamInJapan
@ADreamInJapan 2 года назад
You stay there, it’s not like you change apartments or anything. You have the option to go home over any break if you want to, but it comes out of your vacation time

Hey miss I am from India I have 3 year bachelor degree I want to know I am eligible or not for ALT
@ADreamInJapan

Please check the jet programme application rules for correct info, but usually you must have 12 years of education taught in english primarily and a 4 year university degree. I know some people who had English or linguistic backgrounds that go around the 12 year rule, but the 4 year university rule is pretty solid, If you graduated early from a 4 year university, you may be able to submit documents showing that. good luck!

I'm not saying it CAN'T work for you. I brought them too. But they were more annoying than helpful. However, I still use them for storage now! So, not a total waste~!
