The original version is by Paco de Lucia, and called "Rio Ancho". The track first featured on Paco de Lucia's 1976 album Almoraima. In 1980, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola collaborated and produced an ensemble track composed of Di Meola's "Mediterranean Sundance" taken from his 1977 album Elegant Gypsy with "Río Ancho". It was performed live in San Francisco on December 5, 1980 and the set was released by Columbia Records as simply Friday Night in San Francisco. Wikipedia "Rio Ancho".
@jcstatto "People who think that this is representative of paco de lucia are the same people who think that that hideous dance mix of barber´s adagio for strings is classical music." +1
Is there a recording titled 'Mediterranean Sundance' by 'AC'? I found an album named Guitarra Chillout Vol. 4 (MXCD 1878 / 10 June, 2009) with the same art work on album cover. It has 26 songs but none from Paco de Lucía. #23 is Mediterranean Sundance performed by AC. Sure sounds similar. // Thanks!
