Cars and Hobbies Haha trust me I know! Before getting it I was like is it really necessary but I love it now as it keeps you in powerband after each shift
Yeah grabber blue is definitely close second on my list. They only made them in 2017 for s550 mustangs love the color! I bet she sounds awesome with Borla exhaust!
i have a 6speed auto from 2016 premium, and i tend to use the shifters when i wanna feel a bit more engaged. i would love to get a newer gt in the future though.
Nice vids! Is it my imagination but shifting from 3rd to 4th gear seems to react consistently slower compared to any other besides 1st to 2nd gear which takes ages! Does it depend on how hard are you stepping on the gas? I. E., harder accelerations traduces into faster reaction of the paddles?
I have definitely noticed the 1-2 shift delay with paddle shifters, but 3-4 seems to be especially if you're giving it proper gas. I would have to check again, maybe you are correct that it's a bit slower! But driving it around it doesn't feel slow, whereas 1-2 shift you can easily tell and kind of takes away from the fun
@@Red5oh broooo i love your car 🔥🔥🔥 im currently saving up for mine atmmm, i want this exact color. How much is it to get the digital dash included? Cant wait for it!
@@angulo3047 Thanks man I really appreciate it! If you’re getting new mustang then the digital dash package will run you about $2k. Good luck in your search!
I really wish that there was a way to , like the C8 Corvette, briefly pull both shifters for a "tunnel rev". I tried briefly going into neutral, but the trans did not like that.
I grew up with manual transmissions....what happens if you accidentally try to downshift using the paddle shifter and you are at WAY too high revs? Will the car's computer prevent it?
Yeah the computer will protect. In the case of mustangs it will deny you the shift. I’ve accidentally done it once but computer denied the shift for me
Was just gonna ask this and I also noticed it.. just bought a 2016 mustang and I love using the paddle shifters.. just one question tho , what rpms typically is the safest to downshift in?
@@lukeshreds you can technically downshift at any rpm in 2015+ mustangs and be safe. Since if it would put rpm too high the computer will deny the shift so you don’t mess up the car. I’d try with 2-3k to downshift and go from there as you feel more comfortable
I tried using mine but i guess I stalled or I don't know.I was going fast and I was in 4 gear and when I tried downshifting when slowing down it remained stuck and was almost reving
Yeah you can drive in sport mode without using paddle shifters. It will hold the rpms high so you can have. Although paddle shifters will give you full control over rpms. I have a tutorial coming on Ecoboost paddle shifters so stay tuned!
If you downshift while giving it half/full throttle it'll downshift to the lowest gear for the speed your doing so you can do pulls in it while going at higher speeds. I've only done it in sport mode though (since it doesn't auto shift you after a few seconds in sport). "D" is for when I'm cruising/going to work.
Need your assistance how and from where can I order the exhaust system mood for the new mustang 2019 due i bought one but unfortunately the previous owner he changed the exhaust and now even on the manue of the car sitting not showing the option of the exhaust mood so if I bought one and after fixing it on the car will be showing the option or no ? Model is mustang california special 2019
Mohamed Almarzuqi Congrats on the purchase!! Active exhaust was an option on 2018+ mustang not a standard equipment. If you don’t see anything in the menu regarding exhaust mode then unfortunately your car isn’t equipped with it. Do you get a message that Active Exhaust isn’t available or you don’t see anything at all?
Hey just a question. When I drive my 2016 GT the paddle shifter mode keeps disabling itself and it’s really annoying when I’m trying to shift with paddles. Is there a way to stop this?
Yes to keep it in full manual mode you need to leave your shift selector in S mode. If you leave it in D it will revert back to automatic shifting after a while if you don’t use paddle shifters.
They have a slight delay in time when using the paddles at least when driving normal. When using the paddles and going Full throttle do you get the same delay?
You are correct that partial throttle has slight delay. Full throttle works just fine. I normally use it to just hold a gear but if I was racing or something I’d probably won’t use it due to delay
Nothing really. It will upshift or downshift depending on which on your picked first. For dct transmission like gt500 it goes into neutral to allow you to rev.
If the transmission is in D setting then it would turn off automatically after 5-6 sec of no use. If in S you have to shift it back to D to turn them off
Yeah that’s true. If you don’t touch the paddles it won’t impact anything. Even if you accidentally tap it they will revert back to normal after 5-6 seconds of no use
If you want to roll race while in "Sport Mode" and in "D" (not S) and you use the paddle shifters to downshift to the best gear with the right RPMS, do you have to upshift once you floor it or will it automatically upshift for you as a "safety" feature?
If you have it Sport + and as long as the shifter is in D not S. I believe you are correct you can drop to desired gear for racing but it can shift for you once redline hits. I’d recommend letting the car do shifting without touching paddle. But if you do use paddle the shift by yourself. Reason I say this is computer may take sec or so to see if you’d shift and that delay would neglect any time you saved by dropping the gear
@@Red5oh yeah, I see what you mean. The only reason I do it is to drop to the best gear to prevent a bad start. I just got my car, so I'm trying to get used to its features. I recently found out that if you give it a good floor on the gas pedal, then it'll drop to the lowest gear possible and hold it there for a second or two so you can take off on that gear
santosmauricio13 yeah that could work too. You can try what I tend to do. I’d leave the car in S or Sport + and will brake with decent push to allow it to engine brake. This drops to lowest gear depending on brake pressure applied. Then it will the gear for few secs instead of shifting right away so that can be your starting point
Is it normal to have a 1-2 second delay when you upshift? The gear number changes as soon as I press the paddle but the don't actually start shifting and dropping the rpm till 1-2 sec later...
It should turn off when you turn off the car. Also if you’re in D mode it should revert back to automatic shifting after you don’t use the paddle for a bit
@@Red5ohI took it to ford yesterday they said my 2022 is totally fine and it’s just the way the car is. The man who told me owns like 4 different stangs so I guess I’m not crazy. I found downshifting 3-2 below or at 3000 rpms makes it feel better !
When you shift into S the S550 will still shift for you, while in S mode hit the left paddle shifter which will fully engage the paddles and it will become fully manual.
Jariel Felton yeah you are correct! S will still have computer do the shifting but will hold gears much longer to give you sporty feeling. But touch any paddle once while in S and it becomes full manual mode until you shift back into D mode
@@Red5oh oh ok I see! Just traded my GT in!! Was able to get a black & yellow Hendricks Motorsports tuned Camaro SS! 480hp 305’s on the back makes a lot of crackles n pops! Got it just under $55,000 such a steal! 👌🏽🔥🥂🙇🏽♂️
@@PowerofPlacebo Ahh congrats!! It must be exciting owning the camaro! I am assuming it's the 6th gen. I have to say 6th gen Camaro are an amazing performers. Enjoy the American Muscle while you can before we go all EVs unfortunately.
@@Red5oh yes bro, it’s a black 2020 with yellow stripes! They built only #224 of them! Google Hendricks Motorsports Hertz Camaro SS & ZL1! & thanks for the compliments. 🥂🙇🏽♂️
Yes you can certainly do that! I do it all the time. Just a word of caution when going from S to D don’t try to slam it too hard and put it in N accidentally. Now that will be troublesome
Nope you can use it in normal mode too. Sport mode just gives you full manual control. With shifter in D you can use it and it will revert back to auto shifting after a while if you aren’t using paddles
Can you hold the downshift down for couple seconds for the transmission to select perfect rpm to launch on the go just like the mopars or no? In any mopar preferably in auto mode that way it shifts at perfect time. You hold the left pad( downshift) for 1-2 seconds while rolling it automatically finds the best gear and then you can gun it since you’re in Auto it shifts for you rest of the way
Nope I don’t think the mustang allows for that unfortunately. Although it would be really cool to be able to do that. There’s no launch control either on auto mustangs
I been driving for like a month now and I accelerated to like 110+ plus downshifting cus that’s how it went faster but I didn’t know what I was doing. I did it like maybe 10 times total and I got the v6 2016 mustang. Does this mess up the engine
It won’t mess up the engine. If you have a 2016 V6 mustang automatic you have 6 gears and a redline of 6500 rpm I want to say. So as long as rpms remain below 6500 when you downshift you are fine.
It depends if you’re in D it will deactivate after few seconds of no use. If you’re in “S” you’ll have to shift back to D to deactivate otherwise it will remain active
@@quixylll4368 yes you can certainly do it! I do it all the time by leaving car in S and still let the computer shift. The car feels much responsive in S than D
The gears are just spaced further apart on the 2015-2017s. I have a 2015 and I use the paddles 95% of the time. In stop and go traffic it's less hassles to just put the car in D and let the computer do the work.
@@Red5oh so if I accidentally tap it in d mode after 5 seconds, it will not engage no matter what?? I use S mode alot and have accidentally tapped it and is aggravating.
I have a 2019 mustang gt with the digita cluster but my gears aren’t displayed like yours. I even have gears checked in setting. Am I doing something wrong?
It’s weird because if I choose the RPM instead of the gear, it shows rpm. But if I choose gear, it’s just blank. So I literally have no idea what gear I’m in. Shifter isn’t illuminated and doesn’t show changes anyways so there is no indication of what gear I’m in anywhere in the car
Yes it should be perfectly ok. There’s just more wear and tear if you’re banging gears or revving out your engine between each shift. But if using normally with few spirited runs it should be fine
@@Red5oh 125cc + on shifties. When you pulled the paddle it disengaged the clutch for just a second and then up/down shifted .Clutch cable(s) went to both right and left paddles. On a kart u are shifting @ 14,000 rpm . You are 3/4" off the ground : your helmet top would go under an 18" limbo bar and u are traveling 120MPH . Then everything fades away and u are in another place in space. Adjusting brake bias rear/front while driving was also invented by karting . It used a "Y" and a screw with a cable. I raced at Riverside in 1989 ,the last year it was open and where we lost Ken Miles in 1966.
