Paddling Athabasca River. 

On September 2, 2023, 5 friends went for a paddle on the Athabasca River. From Whitecourt, AB to Blue Ridge, Alberta.
It was the perfect day for kayaking and canoeing. I was in the river canoe for the first time with my son Grayson. It wasn't terrifying and I learned a lot about route-finding in a bigger faster river...in a canoe. Kayaking felt easier.
The adventure included one of our teammates sinking and losing his watch due to a missing drain plug. We had to paddle upstream for a few meters to avoid a significant portage.
