@@BLESSEDTOBEABLESSING I posted this on my Facebook so you may see views from people who won't say anything n non shy viewers declare their hood PH lol.❤️
Abbot avenue is where i grew up in the 90s...this used to be a lovely well kept, sleepy suburb with spans of goffels, indians and even a few whites! who remembers Mrs Brown down on abbot ave? she was retired and either an ex convent or evelyn high teacher during the rhodesian days with a great reputation for giving "extra lessons" after school?? my bali drove a ford anglia and on early sunday mornings whilst still laying in bed i would hear him down shifting the gears whilst driving over the two speed humps just before passing the shopping center on his way to town...such nostalgia brings a tear to my eye. The shopping center still looks the same, those old buildings have held up well although not so sure what the interior looks like nowadays? i think the names of the shops have changed...in my days we had the likes of Mr Hung that owned the little green grocers and his family were rumoured to be the oldest chinese family to have settled in the country many moons ago! also a few hundred metres away, Mr Patel who owned the bigger supermarket that used to have table football outside. Ohhh what id do to go back to those days
@@BLESSEDTOBEABLESSING thank you that would be great! I'll be sure to subscribe & keep checking for the video 😊. I used to stay at number 17 abbot Ave, which was on the right hand side & about a quater of the way down. That was one of the many houses in Bulawayo owned by Bill Hamanel who is better known as the owner of Doves Funerals. We had the highest Jira wall on the street & it was 8 feet high but like all the other houses this still did not stop burglaries! The end of the street used to lead to the Paddonhurst Bush as we used to call it and if you stuck to paths vearing left toward the main road & bridge of the matshemhlope river there used to be remnants of an old car that some how managed to end up abandoned in the actual river🤔 so as you can imagine this was fascinating to us youngsters and we would always pester my bali for reasoning with questions he couldn't answer😂...you would then end up at an olive tree Grove that was planted by early Indian and Chinese settlers to the suburb long before my time. My gosh, how I wish I could travel back in time.. all the memories have flooded my mind on a beautiful Sunday here in the UK. Iv even been narrating stories to my wife and kids whom are all born here but by the looks on their faces it clearly doesn't justify the real thing 😅. Hopefully one day soon I can bring them for a visit! P.S. I noticed you done a short video on Suburbs which was for the ultra rich people in the city when I was growing up and so I'm wondering if you got the chance to see Bill Hamanel's estate/mansion near BASS and Milton high schools? It featured the likes of its own golf course, tennis and squash courts, in and out door swimming pools... You name it! If not then I highly recommend you take a peep next time you are in Suburbs, you won't regret it! It won't surprise me if it's still one of the top 3, if not the number properties in BYO to this day! God bless and thank you again 🤗
