As soon as the trumpets came out everyone knew the Mets were toast. The announcer said they might as well be playing taps. 😂

On a positive note, the Mets made history tonight. This was the first 1-hitter in a winner-take-all post season game in MLB history.

Musgrove is a savage for gesturing at the Mets dugout after throwing that strikeout. Lol but he was more than clinical all night. Dominant.

Playing the trumpets when down 4-0 was the epitome of the last month of the Mets season. Totally oblivious to the situation and having your competition take advantage. First the Braves now the Padres

As a Padres fan I gotta say this postseason run has really light up San Diego, everyone’s wearing their padres gear wherever you go in San Diego

This postseason has barely gotten started, and there've already been so many surprises and insane games.

That 7-8-9 line up was firing up. Kim-Grisham-Nola! On-base 9 times in total out of 12 at-bats! Kim with 3BBs and 3Rs, Grisham just crazy mode, and Nola with an important hit to start the game.

Grisham/Kim were amazing That catch by Grisham was huge. Padres never were in trouble tonight and that was a big reason why.

The freaking trumpets 🎺 😂 are you kidding me! That and Buck Showalter with that embarrassing stunt that even the ESPN guys were shaking their heads. Try getting some guys on base New York. That’s how you score runs 😂

The check was just to delay the enevitable. It was meant to slow musgrove down, yet it motivated joe more and he was insane

To be fair, Dodgers/Padres is the series everyone wants to see anyway.

One word: DOMINATION The pitching, the impossible catch making, the constant getting on base... were it not for Alonso's hit and that one walk, this would've been a Perfect Game in more ways than one.

As a Cleveland fan, even though he's been largely forgotten about here, it does bring a little smirk to my face knowing Lindor is going home and Cleveland is still playing.

I like how Soto was 0-2 and he puts a sacrifice bunt down.

Swinging early in the 1st against Bassit seemed to give him false confidence. Knocked them down in seven pitches I think. Then in the 2nd the Padres showed a lot more patience which made Bassit unexpectedly work hard. Think he thought he was gonna breeze through to a quick victory. Then that move getting the officials to feel Musgroves ears only served to fire him & the Padres up. Totally backfired on the Mets. Machado was totally loving it!

I feel bad for Mets fans to barley lose the division and getting eliminated in the wild card but congratulations to the Padres, they were clearly the better team in this series

As a Dodgers fan, here is my perspective on the Mets: since breaking out Timmy Trumpet in person in early September vs. the Dodgers, the Mets proceeded to get swept by the Reds, Cubs, and Braves. Then they bowed out of the postseason with nary a whimper. I had San Diego winning the series as I felt they were on an upward trend and the Mets on a downward trend. This series exposed the Mets' shortcomings. Even though the Padres finished 20-something games behind the Dodgers, they're going to be a tough out. They're playing their best ball of the season, and that's when you want to play your best ball. Musgrove was dealing tonight. Asking the umpires to check him was bush league. Savage move by him glaring at the Mets' dugout after that subsequent strikeout. Mets, take your L like a man and admit you WEREN'T the better team.

Pads looking strong, confident and synchronized. Onwards gentlemen!

Up 10.5 games on June 1st with the highest payroll in the MLB, to then going home in the Wild Card round on a one-hitter in your own park. Yup, this was one of the most epic collapses in my lifetime...and I'm eating it up

Was watching this game and the commentator acted like this was Joe Musgrove's biggest postseason pitching performance, as if he didn't pitch in two contentious World Series games in 2017, winning Game 5 😂

The Padres FINALLY got serious and focused. In the very beginning in the dugout they were huddling up and encouraging each other and I said, "Hey, this is a team that wants to win!" Something in their heads was very different this game. Then they just systematically went about their business (without all the celebrations) and did their jobs!!! IF they'll keep this kind of attitude, they CAN beat L.A.

Big discussion on the NY area sports talk was should Showalter pitch DeGrom in game 2 of the wild card or wait until game 3 so if they swept the Padres DeGrom can start against the Dodgers. The team thought 101 wins was going to intimidate Manny Machado, Juan Soto, Josh Bell and Yu Darvish.

After all the talks about Mets throughout the pre-season and all season long, this loss is so embarassing. The Mets had a week to learn from the humiliation the Braves had handed they, and the did not.

Congraturation,San Diego Padres. The reason you guys are so strong is that the low ranking batting line has players who are strong in the game.
