Pagani Design PD-1676 Paul Newman Daytona - with terrible crystal - Unboxing 

I read on another site that the first Movie Paul Newman wore the Rolex Daytona in was "Winning" starring both Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward!

Sadly, I believe all of the box top crystals have been sold and the latest version (which is what is in this video) features only a domed crystal. But, who knows, maybe they switched back. The watch on my wrist is Pagani Design PD-1644 with meteorite dial.

Great question, because I wondered the same thing every time I watched other vids, before I received mine. The hands are a smoke/ gunmetal colour, but are also translucent and not painted. There is an ionic process, perhaps, that creates the colour allowing the steel to still be visible through the colour way. It's really a nice touch.

Idk, it felt like Pagani Outlets Store on AE just gaslighted me. AE agreed with me that I did not receive what was advertised, but the store itself was adamant that what I received possesses the same features (crystal) as every other and that it has not changed since it was first made and sold. The problem with this, is that the store denies that a new version of the watch exists. In the end, I received a pittance of a refund - more like a 20% discount. I was determined not to spend any money to return the watch. For the price, they could have just sent me a new one. When you consider the shipping fee and the 30% import tax that I paid - which I would have to repay, should an exchange be conducted - and the likelihood that the store would charge me an 20%+ restocking fee, I just decided to make peace with it and seek out a replacement crystal, instead. The advice I recommend anyone is to request, in the notes section of the payment page, for photos of your watch as it is being prepared for shipping. Follow that up with a message to the seller directly, from the messaging platform and ensure that you are getting that for which you've paid.

Well, I received the watch today and it does have the same slightly domed sapphire crystal on it that yours does, but like you, I’ve decided that it’s not that big if a deal and the watch still looks good, so I’m just going to let it go. I still think the watch is great, no matter the crystal situation. I’m going to put it on a good looking leather strap and be happy with it.

The thing that AE needs to take seriously is that bait and switch is an unacceptable sales tactic, particularly in light of how problematic it is to send products back to China for an exchange or refund. When you consider paying customs duty tax twice, plus shipping and restocking fees it's downright larceny.

Yes. It was purchased from the Pagani Design Outlets store. I am still very disappointed. Just this morning, AE refunded me a fraction of what I paid. I refused each of the solutions offered by the store and AE stepped in. I refused one or two of their options. In the end, AE just did whatever they wanted and threw me a small bone. I have thought about buying this watch from another store, but if I do, I shall request photos of the actual watch before they send it. I don't want to be the recipient of another watch like this. The most annoying thing is that the store was using pics to defend that they sent me the right watch. But in each picture, they were actually proving my point - that the crystal on my watch is not the same as the box top crystal on the watches in their pictures. I suppose I should be happy that I have a rare version which I have not seen anywhere else.

However, not all watches of these references can be regarded as a Paul Newman Daytona, and it is because a Paul Newman Daytona is defined by the configuration of the dial. Simply speaking, the dial combination required for any collectors to claim their watches as a Paul Newman Daytona must include the characteristic of a 3-coloured dial, an art deco-style font and the harsh marks with small squares to the subsidiary dial.'

Even the real Paul Newman Daytona has a steel Bezel,not a black ceramic one!

@@davidcrandall4958 I'm not sure where you ordered from, but on AE, each store has small thumbnail images of the colour way options. You have to select the colour there, before proceeding to the next step of checkout. But, by default, an option is already selected.
