About the artist:
Chandra Chakraborty have been groomed as an adopted daughter of maestro Pandit A Kanan, and Vidushi Malabika Kanan and later she also took taleem from Padmabibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi at ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata since the age of 10. Chandra holds a First Class first Masters degree in North Indian Classical and Semi Classical vocal and have a bachelor of dance degree in Kathak dance. Chandra received National Scholarship from Govt of India and received Gold Medal from All India Radio. Chandra moved to Johannesburg to take charge of Indian Consulate music department, she also joined Witwatersrand University as Lecturer of Music, Advanced studies. Being invited by reputed organisations, Chandra have performed all over the world in famous venues.
Chandra is the pioneer of live stage musicals and presents shows all over UK, based on her research about Courtesans of India and their contribution to Indian Classical Music. Chandra is the founder and CEO of a critically acclaimed organisation Kalakar Arts UK. Other than performing, teaching and managing Kalakar's activities,Chandra works full time as the Head Of Department for Student Experience at Croydon and Coulsdon College.
