+BIMMOM this is beyond concussions, people willing to give their lives to peoples with million dollar legal teams is absurd, before their concussions. If it was afterwards well, then we need to give them every effort from us to free them from their strive. Maybe...
Why the fuck would they? For every injured player there's two thousand guys willing to take his place. Has no one here heard of economics - supply and demand. The supply is high bruh.
Cant believe people are stupid enough to say this is Marcellus' fault. He acknowledges that he did take them and he is a grown man, but the DOCTOR prescribed them, checked his medical records every year, and never mentioned any of the side effects, knowing that Wiley also had asthma. Some people are so stupid to claim that he should have know. Nobody has the time to be an expert every field of life. Are we all supposed to check our support beams by ourselves to make sure the construction workers did a sufficient job building our house? Should I take apart my oven to make sure everything is working right and it doesn't explode the next time I turn it on?
soap bubbles i agree with what you general point is but I think maybe what the case is and what he was saying was their negligence in the sense that they actually did not check for cross indicators, as opposed to seeing them and choosing to ignore them. Obviously, both can be harmful/deadly so it may not matter much in terms of the ultimate consequences, but I do think it paints a different picture in terms of the culture
And yet millions of deplorables along with President P-Grabby believe themselves qualified to deny climate science despite never having cracked open a climate science textbook.
@@danielmocsny5066 Honestly thats really it. I've read about it. I understand some but the fact of the matter is 99 percent of the top people in the field say hey it's happening and it's an issue. But big oil and people backed by it deny it.
I got a shot of Toradol last month for a major back injury that I didnt want opiates for. I went from calling my mother to help me out of bed at 9am, to manually changing a tire on my car 20min after I got the shot 3 hours later. It was a miracle, and I can totally understand why the players loved it. Its not euphoric and addictive like opiates, but its an insane anti-inflammatory. If you have a job to do that requires huge physical prowess and you are already in pain, its the PERFECT drug.
I miss SportsNation, Marcel was arguably the biggest reason I watched the show, but finding this out... man I'm lost for words, I'm glad Marcellus is doing better since that day and I hope all NFL players can receive the proper medical care they deserve for the time they put into the League.
@Cool Breeze lol. 20 years ago I might agree. But today with inflation it wouldn't last you 5 years. 1600 a month in rent is almost 20,000 a year. Add electricity, internet, kids wife(no money no honey) beer. I could go on forever.
Sounds like the VA, to me. I had 4 accidental overdoses taking pain meds, AS PRESCRIBED. It was the other meds I was taking, mixed with the opioids, I guess. After I would get out of the civilian hospital, I'd go to the VA Clinic, tell them what happened they'd just put me on a different med, to "see how this one works out". I finally quit most everything(except B/P and insulin), on my own. Nasty withdrawals, "redecorated" the house a couple of times. Sorry I got off track, but I've always looked at NFL players as heroes. Looks like I've found a new one. Thank you for your effort in what you do.🏈🤜🤛
I love football and a big fan of watching NFL games, but know this goes on and can't stand it. The NFLPA needs to work harder and stand together to advocate for so many changes in the league and stand up to the owners and commissioner that don't give a damn about the players
Toradol is an anti inflammatory med (nsaid) same category as advil just stronger. All prolonged use of nsaid's have a risk of kidney damage (why you shouldn't take advil daily).
Toradol is a NSAID not an opiate. It is in the same classification as TYLENOL and ADVIL. It is an anti inflammatory medication and as such, not addictive nor does the drug result in euphoria. I was prescribed this medication for migraine headaches.
Amen brother. I see that this was filmed a few years ago. Hopefully something has been done to address some of this. I've had chronic pain for nearly half of my life now, seen dozens of doctors, been on every drug under the sun. Nothing has helped, so I've been on pain meds for the past few years because I have no other route to take and no funds to pursue further treatment options. As a result, I've become anti-social, reclusive, lost my friends, feel desperately alone, and broke financially. And worse of all, still in chronic pain. The medical system has failed professional athletes, but also everyday folks like myself. It's a shame how people are treated and left out to dry, especially in the wealthiest country in the world.
You u can take Toradol with Asthma - not an absolute contraindication, higher risk of triggering an attack and DONT give it in active asthma, and don't inject it everyday - BTW any NSAID has a long term SE of renal failure. Agree, informed consent is a must!
This is what happens when we live in a cut throat world. We throw away our morale values all for the sake of producing. NFL will does not have time to wait for a player, they will move on from you in an instance. Because producing equals money.
@@preposterousvitriolic1145 He probably means that the NFL is all about money. And could give two fucks about the players unless they can perform enough to bring in revenue. They basically groom, raise and treat these players like cattle when it comes down to it. Of course players get million dollars checks, endorsements, etc. but at what cost. When it's all said and done...half of these players are so bruised up and suffering with brain and body injuries, it's hard for them to even enjoy the money. The NFL could change some rules in the game to prevent some injuries but....they're not because people get a kick out of seeing people get fucked up. That's part of what he meant I'm assuming.
i got drunk for 3 days straight once and my body locked up like he said ( basically kidney failure) , my back basically gave out too....its pretty scary I cant imagine have it happen while driving.
I think the saddest part of all this is that it was so unnecessary that these guys got addicted the way they did. There have been several clinical studies that show that combining Tylenol and ibuprofen is just as effective if not more effective at dulling pain when comparing it to opiates, except in extreme cases obviously. I have had several surgeries for ACL reconstruction and others, and the opiates were no more effective than the Tylenol/motrin combination. obviously this is anecdotal but I'm just using it to illustrate the point. so basically all this guy needed to take care of his pain was a little bit of Motrin and Tylenol. both over the counter medications.
Methadone helps people like myself. The stigma of it keeps people from getting on it to get clean. Daily methadone maintenance keeps me from using any drugs for 5 years. Because I have many back problems instead of pills I take methadone and it keeps me from being in pain as well
I'm a welder and I make 20 bucks an hour...my boss doesn't give a fuck if my back hurts or I have a broken rib... but he also doesn't send me to a company doctor to keep me on the job. Personal responsibility extends into every thing we say and so in this world.
I'm sorry that happened to you Marcellus. You're right about the situation in the NFL 🏈🏈🏈🏈. I hope they look at their errors that they made when DRUGGING you guys up to mask the pain, and correct them.
Thank you for sharing Marcellus. It's unbelievable than an MD would recklessly prescribe medication without cross checking the individual's medical history. Doesn't the Hippocratic Oath not say "First, do no harm."? Anyways, thank you Marcellus and God Bless you!
Soldier sprains an ankle and is told to rest (put on a 'profile') for months and/or almost med boarded (kicked out) of the service. Athlete (the stars at least as it seems) BREAKS ankle and is damn near back on the field the next game. I always wondered we couldn't have that 'world class' service. Now I see.
I ended up having a tbi in a car acident having a frature skull and I don't even take meds or pills just weed so I can feel bloody normal not some person standing in the shadow hiding away from the pain
Well spoken and eloquent! The NFL is a money making machine, its a business. Taking advantage of all these young elite athletes with stars in their eyes.
Thomas, Hollywood, Henderson said that he was sitting on the bench in so much pain that he could hardly move, and then a team doctor came over and gave him two little blue pills. Henderson said he asked the doctor what they were, and he said that they were mood pills. He said that he took them, went back into the game , intercepted a pass, and ran it back for a touchdown.
still beats breaking your back in nepotism advancement only production jobs that keeps those without the hook up at low wages and body damaging jobs for entire work life. if I was in nfl I'd do one term contract, take those millions to Uruguay or somewhere and start a biz there or just chill rest of my days on what would be equivalent to being a billionaire here
My grandpa played football in the 50s. His newspaper pics are funny, because they didn't wear helmets. He said if they want to get rid of the concussions, get rid of the helmets.
Same thing happens to Olympic athletes. Children too. So who says when it stops? The players. Time to stop accepting this! There is rarely a job out there that really cares about it's employees. Sports or not. Know that you are a commodity. As long as you hold up. So sorry to read all this. Not surprising. When I was in the hospital, they switched my painkiller with Toradol with no warning and I had a serious allergic reaction
Remember this scene from Any Given Sunday ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uDgeI3qHfgU.html Not a big football guy but Marcellus is so articulate and vivid with his story and message to those who have never seen how the game works.
Football isn't a game you should play for several seasons. Originally it was an amateur game played by college students. Some of them were bigger than average but they weren't the monsters you see playing the pro game today. I remember watching NFL teams play in the late 1950's on TV. There were no 350 lb linemen.
plantar fasciitis really sucks, feels like a sharp rock stuck in the middle of the sole of your foot. Average person cannot stand on it without pain-meds
