That's fricken' amazing! I find it kind of funny that there's a lovely stream behind you, yet you're painting the drug store, which is something most people would find objectively less appealing. But you proved that something as conventional as a store front can be absolutely beautiful!

The painting is much nicer than he real scene. The warmer times and the more busy street and tighter crop make the painting far more inviting for me.

A true master can create a picture with SO MUCH detail from only a few short brush strokes. I think his ability to pick the colour with such accuracy is the reason for the heightened sense of realism in this. That is a seriously great eye for colour. The accuracy of line is just superb, I cannot understand that because I cannot do that! XD

"Shinhan" is a very popular brand in Korea!(since it's made here:)). the paint set you are using in this video, Mr. Gurney is a "student" version set. They do make "professional" grade of the paint you're usuing.

I'm glad that it isn't photo-real, actually. Photo-realism is, in my humble opinion, on the boring side of illustration. I say use a camera if you want photo-realism.
@nopedynopenope107
@nopedynopenope107 5 лет назад
photorealism can have it's function and artistic merit, but the way people like to use it is very boring, indeed. There's nothing interesting about Morgan Freeman's wrinkles and skin dots, cmon, use all of that insane skill you've worked hard to get for something meaningful, creative and artistic. There's nothing you can't do once you get to that point with painting.
@aceris5874
@aceris5874 5 лет назад
@@nopedynopenope107 I mean, whenever I attempt photorealistic paintings/drawings, I find it fascinating to replicate all the intricate textures and explore how our eyes see the world and create different shapes/recognizable objects. So Morgan Freeman's replicated face may not seem all that interesting, but perhaps the artist had a good time learning from techniques to create near-identical skin patterns & dots & curls in his hair. I always come out of a realistic drawing having learned so much more about our sight & how to replicate that sight on paper & how to accurately represent the world, which is useful in more abstract pieces.
@nopedynopenope107

@@aceris5874 That's actually pretty interesting. Didn't consider that kind of perspective, tbh.
@hieu4763
