You did such a great job bro, a black car is always out of my comfort zone because I know how hard to keep it nice and clean all the time, you inspired me a lot, I might pick black car and keep it looks good as yours. Love your content
My goodness!! This is exactly what I needed to watch!!! Got a 23 WRX in black and I'm starting to see swirls in a certain spot(black is hard to maintain but I find it fun washing it). Definitely will do this in the future. Thanks man. Always making bangers!
When you're using a clay bar, Continually fold it over to a clean area when it starts getting dirty /turning brown. I have a white FK8 and live in Florida. It's amazing how much iron comes off the car when I use an iron remover every 3 months. Car is very well maintained and is garage kept and it still bleeds purple everywhere. For some reason cars in the south need more Decon than others.
I’ve done this twice now on two different cars. My 2018 WRX I did a wash, clay bar, compound, polish and a hybrid paint coating. That took me twenty hours. My Stinger GT got the same treatment but didn’t need as much compounding so that only took me 15 hours. I used Meguiars products for everything. My take away for detailing is that the results are amazing, but a quality detail takes time and attention to details. Also-like you said, you can never have enough clean, quality Micro fiber towels.
Great video! My 2018 Si has never had a paint correction. I took it through a touch free wash today and it still doesn't look great. Watching this video I realized it has the same "haziness" your paint had (at a greater level lol). Time to get some products and do a paint correction this Sunday!
Do it man!! You don’t HAVE to follow up with a ceramic coating. They’re pretty tricky to apply correctly. You could just do a two-step polish and follow up with some wax
The previous ceramic coating was still very much there. The foam still beaded and rolled off really well. I think that california and Florida sun just made it look gross after 2 years. Crazy because you also kept it in a garage at your last apartment. I don’t think the hood needs repainted. Some touch up paint for the bad chips would be just fine.
I belong to Costco and I bought a big thing of microfiber towels, love them.I told you I had my Civic ceramic coated, and it’s weird because I’m so used to washing my car all the time, that I don’t do it now, like I used to do>
Use more soap in the foam cannon 100-150ml will get you better foam. If there adjustment for amount of soap you let out to water ratio wide open for foam.
Looks good Cam! Are you from Maine? I thought San Diego, I’m from Sanford/Springvale. LoL. Enjoy Tail of Dragon. It’s worth the drive. If you get a chance do a run at night during week. Also watch The Fugitive if you haven’t already. The Dam he jumps off is the start of the Dragon. Gets a little crazy during day on weekends. If you get a chance do a night run. You can just pull over on Dam and look over. Be careful of the Tennessee Cops and don’t cross yellow! It’s a beautiful place. Have good trip! I can’t believe your from Maine! What part?
Thanks! Yes I’m from Caribou. Lived in Bangor for a bit, then Portland for over a year before leaving in 2017. The Fugitive with Harrison Ford? Or is this another movie you’re talking about?
@@Camhill182 I left when I was 11. I get back from time to time. Yes. The Fugitive with Harrison Ford. That’s why it’s called Fugitive Dam. It’s a nice small town. There are many many nice roads around there other the Dragon also so cruise around. Don’t Cross the Yellow is biggest rule. Even more then speeding ! It’s hard to see on RU-vid videos but there’s a few banked corners that the speed you can carry is crazy for almost Hairpin’s. If your doing multiple runs don’t forget a Tire Pressure gauge and pump👍🏻
Damn, your Type R looks so clean and shines! You did a great job on your Type R, you should be proud of yourself instead of being professional and $$. 😁👍
Great job, i would say a quick improvement would be to just use a second bucket to rinse the mit when you wash, small particles can scratch paint when you use one bucket
Great work, kudos for attempting and successfully DIYing. There store bought clay is pretty heavy and I rarely use unless Im going after overspray, paint transfer, or sap removal. Synthetic clay mitts and towels are less aggressive and tend to induce less marring. Lastly (and you may have done this just edited out) clean pads equal better more consistent results, not sure how many pads you used or if you cleaned you pad between passes/panels. You were only polishing so for car that size maybe 4-5 polishing pads, if compounding I'd go 6-7 pads Great job!!.
Good job, also that left over ceramic on paint will not come off on the next wash lol. I had a bit left on my bumper and well 3 years later its still there lol ive since sold the car. There is a correct way to remove it but i was just too lazy after doing a two step paint correction and coating.
Looks fantastic and I applaud you for doing ceramic coating. I’ve never attempted that. I’m old school and I still polish my car twice a year and use a paint sealant like ammo skin and then I use ammo hydrate after a wash when drying my car… Can’t believe the difference you made to your car. We live in two fastly different climates I live in Michigan so I have to deal with winter and road salt and you have to deal with the extreme heat of the summer. Keep up the great videos and I’m looking forward to seeing the tail of the dragon. I went two years ago. It was amazing. You’ll have a great time. Just be very careful, the day that I went there was some kind of a bicycle race going on and bikes were crossing the road wherever there was a pull off for the scenic views, and there were two police cars that were clocking peoples speed. My radar detector went off a couple times and I saw them sitting just off the side of the road. Have a great time. Looking forward to more videos.
You didn't have any issues not masking the trim? I didn't do it my 1st time polishing and it was a big mistake seeing what got on the trim a few days later. It wasn't much of a problem getting it off just a PITA dealing with it after the fact. Car came out great btw!
Fyi on that Trinova foam cannon, it's known for not really producing much foam compared to the better cannons. If the amount of foam doesn't matter to you then no big deal, if it does you might want to try something like an MJJC foam cannon. I switched to that from the Trinova and it's a huge difference, of course it's much more expensive so up to you.
best foam cannon out there but also one of the most expensive, but thats the price you pay. I had the knockoff trinova with an active pressure washer and it produced tons of foam. Pressure washer makes a big difference too.
Alright so I just did this same process on my rs3, but my God.. I could not get some of the swirls out.. does audi have a heavy clear coat? Or should I upgrade from chemical guys junk?
Audi has a tougher clear coat, yes. At least better than Honda. You should absolutely upgrade from Chemical Guys. They have SOME decent products, but the majority of it does not work as well as some of the competition. These Meguiar’s pads are awesome. If you want super shiny paint, get the gray finishing disc. I’ll be using that one when I do the BRZ in a month or so
Don't know if someone else covered this, but don't water down your foam cannon, straight shampoo, the cannon will add water, that will give you that thick snow foam
I’ve had paint correction stuff ready to use when I had my fk8 and never got to around to using it yet lol. You have motivated me to do it soon. Good job man!
Turned out excellent. 20 hours is a lot of time. But you got the results. 👍 I did for the first time my front rotors and pads it took me 6 hours on my 07 Si. I took my time, no rush no problems. But I was pretty anal and used a wire brush on the calipers, bolts and pad calipers brackets. Nothing more satisfying than a good DIY...I used Centric Semi Coated rotors and Akebono pads, turned out excellent. No break in required with Akebono pads.
Lookin good. For rags. I highly recommend "the rag company" more specifically the towels on that site that are made in Korea. Absolute best towels I've used and now I own almost all of them. The Everest 1100 gsm is mind blowing.
My boy!! How's the family life going man!!?? I been out of the loop for alittle.. haven't been on RU-vid much watching stuff... hit a racoon with mine 10k in damage. Took 7 weeks to get back.. I need to get mine all redone by spring.. might try to get it repainted or wrap it in orange... I been having tons of health issues that is messing up me and my working real bad.. Tuesday I go for a cat scan so hopefully can get stuff figured out b4 it's too late... I had hepatitis c.. took 90 day pills ND after I finished them is when my body started shutting down... my eyes don't tear. My face constantly is stinging... stinging all over my body thruout the day ND night... alot more than that too. Found a cyst in my one nut too... my life's getting real bad man... hopefully i can get fixed up here soon! Hope all is well with you ND the family!
Holy shit dude. Im sorry to hear thats happening. Hopefully you get all taken care of and back to 100%. Thats also crazy that a raccoon did $10k in damage! Must have been a big raccoon!
You gotta use a pearl weave for leveling first then buff with plush microfiber ceramic coating buddy… and you also have lots of high spots all over the car bubby…
soyou recommend this ceramic coating? also nt sure if you tried avalon king ceramic coating. but its super user friendly but after a month the hydrophobic properties is gone. how user friendly is this coating you used?@@Camhill182
Need to change the orifice nozzle on your foam cannon, bro. You're not getting anything out of your current setup like that. A 1:1 should do the trick and give you rich, thick foam! You also need to start washing with 2 bucket method, or you'll be right back here very soon, ceramic coated or not....
