You create little universes when you paint on furniture. Little worlds for people to visit. To feel the colors and enjoy the sensation of seeing the flowers laid over each other. I very much enjoy seeing your artwork. I am also an artist, and I am learning by watching your videos. Sometime I'm going to cut loose and start painting furniture. Gotta find that muse. Your art is going to be part of it. Thank you so much.

Debi, you are a beautiful soul and I love you. You have been my light in the darkness during the lowest moment of my life. I turned to youtube for a video on painting a piece of furniture, I found your video....Little did I know that video would lead me back to me. It also lead me to Dionne, Jami, Melanie, Lindsay and so many others, they all inspired me, challenged me and gave me direction. This video is so special because sometimes we forget that everyone struggles, everyone has doubts about themselves. Life isn't always easy and everyone has challenges, this video shows that, yet you made it through. You turned ugly into something beautiful. The key to life is keep the faith, listen to your little voice inside and keep moving forward. We never know who we touch with our actions, we never know who we are a light for, so we have to just believe in the goodness of the world and the people we are blessed to cross paths with.... Some day I will get to meet you in person, and I will hug you so tight, because my heart needs to thank you!

You inspired me a few years ago to start selling the things I make and I sell some, but over the last few months I have been so discouraged with the sales for the things I make and growth of the RU-vid channel I started to show other people how to do the same. I, of course, am not happy you were struggling but it is nice to know I wasn't alone. Thanks so much for the work you do and the vulnerability you shared here. Keep going. Keep doing the things you love. Keep making the old new. Keep listening to God's voice. He will get us through.

This piece looks amazing! But the story just precious! I ran a daycare center called I Think I Can Daycare. In a tiny town, popular 425. We once had 55 children enrolled at top enrollment. We sunk 7 years of our heart, blood, sweat & tears in it. Remodeling, painting, every sqaure inch. I painted the old brownie frownie kitchen cabinets, white & sponged a black trim on the raised frame. Then in large scale, the center I painted a stick man or a stick women in primary colors. With oil based painted. It dries like a very hard, scrubable surface. It's hard to paint with, kinda like painting with glue. But for cabinets & appliances. That need constant scrubbing. Especially in a daycare center its the best. You can scrub it with an abrasive scratcher & it will not budge. It's great 2 paint floors with as well. We added on a huge room to the center. Fire Marshall said we couldn't use the upstairs unless we raised the ceiling. That meant since they where allready up as far as they could go. We had to have an architectural professional draw a plan to restructer the framing in the roof. And all of that inspected at different phases. We also made all entrances handi cap excessable! We sunk every penny we had into the Daycare. I even took some college courses at the age of 48 to be my own director. My former skill I owned & operated a beauty salon out of my home. Separate room of course, state guide lines on that had to be closed off from the home. But at the end of the 7 year saga year 2008, economy took a major hit in our area. Hubby lost his job. He had been supporting us in the lean time. Then he got into a bad dirt bike wreak & broke the neck of his hip. He couldn't even walk for a year. So no work for him. We also had been running a photographery, on weekends, Studio out of an old church my dad had next to our home a few blocks from our daycare center. I Think I Can I called it. We put the center up for sale & I took a job at a small cassino near our town. The center didn't sale & for a couple of years I just barely made the interest payments. Hubby finally got well enough to walk. He took the same training as I had & learned to be a card dealer as well. He was still on crutches when he took the training & still on a cane when he became a card dealer & went out on the floor. He did that until his hip with pens still in it. At this point I suppose they will always be there. But he was able to go back to his balls to the walls welding job. Eventully the medical bills just keep running so high & during the recuperation period. We had no choice to file bankruptcy. It broke my heart when we had to close the center. 7 years & each & every child that came there & Hundreds went through those doors in the seven years, coming & going. But alot of them stayed & there firsts where celebrated within those doors. We didn't Separate the children in Separate rooms.. Except for the babies, they had a complete Separate room. And at nap time all the cots & blankets. Where land downstairs & in summer mths. When school was out. The older kids & I went upstairs. Of couse I had employees, great employees. But it had took as long of a time to build a great employee team as to remodle & build on to the center. When we where forced to file bankruptcy. The bank had tired our 30 years we spent in our home. We did extensive remodeling & built a room on to it as well. With a basement under that potion. We had tried everything we could to not close the daycare & forfeit our home. But nothing worked the bank gave us 45 days to get our belongings out. After 30 years at that home. Where we raised our 2 grown children & grandchildren learned to play. The bank even made us buy are piece of junk cars back. I truly know how hard it is to run a business & keep it going. The daycare paperwork was my weakest skill. For awhile I keep the Beauty Shop open I'm my home & hired a director. They have to have some college credit hrs. Why I went to college at 48. We also ran the photographery Studio on weekends while juggling it all, mostly weddings. Was the majority of our business on that. But seniors, families, glamor shots, new babies, children, engagements, anniversary parties, animals, graduation & sports. We even took old time photos. As time went on & the daycare became time consuming. We had cut back on that. At the end when we left our home town. It was horrible fir reasons I will never understand. The town committees gave us a hard time. About 2 horse's we temporarily with a temporary electric fence we had put on the lot next to our center. We had a separate lot besides the building. With hubbies broke hip. The grass was growing out of hand & I was trying to get the contents ready for all the items inside. Which was a major job. I spent more on the kids things than I ever made But the lady next door to the center had complaint after complaint. When she first moved there she called & wanted her boys to just come over in bad weather & wait with our kids for the bus. Just free, I told her no. All kids have to be enrolled her & paperwork to back that. State looks at the files everytime they randomly show up. She was always coming up with some complaint after that. And the town hand delieved us a letter on a no horse ordinance as we where packing our things to get out of town. Hubby had also worked as a mechanic in the garage in town, for 20 years. Before he went to the big city & started a new career as a welder working his way up to a supervisor. We finally made it 2 10 acres of the family farm of 40 years. And Hubby & I have worked hard trying to temodle mobile homes. 1 single wide we are living in. And 1 single wide & 1/2 of a double wide he put togather & added a new roof over both. Have gutted them & remodling them from top to bottom. We are 65 now, his back is shot. I had a boutched surgery in 2008 as well as all the other bad luck. And it had cause health problems ever since. Drs. aren't any help. This was caused by Dr. error nobody can fix that. GI drs. Absolutely are of no help or no hope. But I seriously do know how hard a small business is to run. The ppl. We employee become family. And when it fails you feel you just failed your family. In my case they where my family. Though these last horrible 12 years we left our home town, in 2010. And my family ran a Trucking business next door, my sister had took over everything in my Dad's life & treated us awful. When Dad passed it became even worse. But that's how it goes I suppose. My dad was the greatest man that ever lived & his faith & dedication to God can compare to no one else I know. Supposedly sister attends church & is a fine Christian woman. But it is all in perspective of who you are & what she can use you to do. I just have a super hard time figuring that one out. Except that I have seen through her for years & known what is inside of her & it ain't pretty! I seriously hope you have grand luck with this. But maybe you could just sell the whole kittencobootel! Before it exustes you & enjoy your life a little! We have goats on our 10 acres out in the middle of nowhere & its so peaceful. I called it Rebel Island fir awhile after we got voted off the island of Ewing! (Our former Home Town) I now call it Old Glory Land. Tribute to the farm being the family farm for 40 years. The 10 acres we bought didn't even have an entrance before we came here. The drove there tractors in through a ditch & by the creek, to get to the farm ground. Oh y, Hubby farmed for years on the side of all his other jobs & he worked on the Burlington Northern RR as well. He's an amazing man. We have been married 42 years. The farm we live on now. Is where we wanted to build a home & start are life. 30 years & around Robin Hoods barn to get here. I always say we have been through hell & back many times togather & still togather. All the mobile homes here, our daughter & her family live here as well. He has this super old M tractor. He welded & put hydraulic system on it & a truck blade. He welded to giant steel forks that hook over the truck blade. It by all rights in anyone else's hands would be sent to green pasture. But his remarkable mechanic skills he hss keep it alive. I asked him one day what is that thing that sticks out in the front on the left side. He says that's where they used to crank it to start. Wow huh. Bit the old M tractor is what & how he moved most of the mobile homes & building here. He hooked the forms on the truck blade. Then he put serval cement blocks & 2 100 lb tractor weights. Then he bungee straped them down to the tractor weights. Because the old M has a narrow front end. They are natouis for rolling over. This balances it & without the weight the front end wouldn't stay on the ground. Not good for moving a mobile home serval miles up the main highways. Mobile homes are super old. And all have or in the process stages of remodeling. The big back tires have chains on them. I call it the 4 wheel drive of this old tractor. It is quite the site moving a mobile home up the highway with that tractor. The mobile home there self. You have to put the axels & shackles on them jacking them up simultaneously on each side. While keeping them even & getting all that on & the tires. Taking put all the cement blocks they have been leveled with. Old school way. Some RR ties & even RR bridge ties. They weigh a ton. And you have to use RR tie tongs to move them, very slowly. Then when you get them to where you are setting them down at there new home. The process starts all over in the opposite way. Life is an adventure here on Old Glory Land & we are mutelling through! ❤ No business now, but still plenty of business to do! Lol

Hey Debi. . i am not on facebook but am starting to piece together snippets that indicate that you are feeling down and discouraged with this bigger store. You opened this store because it has always been your dream. A place to display and sell your craft, to teach others, to spread color and grace across the world. Once again, this current project shows off your amazing skills. You were meant to do this! You are an artist, an influencer and a kind person. Alot of people are behind you and support your vision and dreams. It might be time to let go of the little blue cottage in order to consolidate your expenses. Maybe showcase a piece of furniture each month on your website or facebook. Create a special elevated spot in the store that allows that piece to shine. i love what you've done with the backspace and am pulling for you that all this works out and that once again, your heart can feel lighter and encouraged.

Hi Debbie! Just recently in the last week I discovered your RU-vid videos. I have been obsessed! This particular one really got to me. I am so inspired by your life your work. I’ve been a artist want to be my whole life. And I’ve had a little success in what I have been able to do but never have I accomplished what in my mind was what I wanted to do. Your video reminded me of my mother. She was such an artist. She would have loved your store, your home, your work. We did so many things together and I learned a lot from her. Thank you for your videos for hanging in there and doing what you do. I really wish you would come to my area(Evansville Indiana)to do some workshops. also I’m blessed to learn of Dione through your videos. You are such an inspiration to me🌸

AMEN! Debi, I love that you share your walk with the Lord...it's AMAZING, AWESOME, truly precious that He cares about the littlest thing. You should be ( at times it's overwhelming, with everything going on in this world, right?!?) encouraged, I was with that wonderful story. He is there for you Debi, never forget that...even if you were the only person on earth, He would of died just for you!!! Keep looking up sweetie!!!❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Debi for always being an encourager. This is Priscilla from Edmore Michigan. I am the store manager at ART IN THE BAG a beautiful old Bag Factory. We opened a gallery gift shop On September 11 around a year and a half ago. It was very close to the same day you opened your new shop. I started watching you a few months before the situation began and then your daily live broadcasts with Danielle kept me going through the lock down. My goal was to sell your p

As well. Problem is I was the only person available to run the shop. I was diligent and faithful to go in everyday to man the ship. We all lack a certain ability to market and we are off the beaten path. After a few months I started to grow weary of being there mostly alone with only a small amount of customers. I stuck with it and kept it all going until after Christmas last year. Because we could keep our doors open during the situation we did fair. However, when things started to open up and people had other options our business dropped off. We now are searching for the way to carry on. We are planning to turn the space into a maker's space but am still feeling the struggle as there is not enough people or money to really make this work. All this to say your story has encouraged me from your video. I have many stories of my own just like this. I especially related to what you said. How can God take the time to reach out to us when there is that war going on? Bec

Debi I love your videos. The first one I saw was of you painting your sofa. Your journey through your stores and your honesty have made me laugh and sympathize. Your out look on life and art are so comforting. You just keep praying and going. I’ve enjoyed your determination to capture the art of the blending technique, and you’ve done an amazing job? If that’s the right word? I haven’t accomplished that yet I’m a semi new painter. But I’m gonna give it a go. Also your choice in music is soothing.

Hi Debi - thank you for sharing your journey with us, I hope you have found the time to open and explore the magic that's undoubtedly been packaged inside that art box for you! Your story triggered a memory for me and with that memory came some song lyrics that flooded back into my mind like tsunami. "You can dance in a Hurricane...But only if your standing in the eye" -Brandi Carlile. Good luck managing the shop, I've not been there but it sure does look beautiful and inviting from over here in NJ! Your intention to build a community of creatives and the like definitely comes through.
