There are lots of mistakes a painter can make, but there is one in particular that is easy to avoid. Dutch painter Janhendrik Dolsma lets you in on a practice that can profoundly change your approach to painting.
Dolsma (1950) is an expert painter of clouds, beaches, dunes and of course the ocean. On his RU-vid channel he shares a lifetime of painting experience in short tutorial videos with an emphasis on painting clouds. Thank you for such an informative video.. I love using my old ragged bristle brushes too.. in fact, i use scisscore to snip out the edges to make them more ragged.. but compared to you, I'm just a novice.. I'm so glad to have discovered your channel..

Nice idea removing underlying paint, you can use shop towels they work wonderfully....and great for cleaning brushes while painting.. And when painting on canvas or MDF...

May I ask what is the purpose of the white frame your place around the photo?

The frame isolates the image from it's surroundings. It allows you to see it without outside stuff interfering.

can you indicate how long in real time you painted on this painting , and are there drying fase in between ? or is it fully wet in wet ?

Hard to say, Jef, I was filming the process at the same time. But based on previous experience, I'd say between 4 and 6 hrs.
