I can't believe how fragile and subtle your masterpiece is. I admire all the passion you've put into it. More than words can describe. You are one of the purest artists I've ever seen.
Hi mate,I'am from India. You did a great job,You are an artist man,you did a great job. This is a masterpiece. The attention to detail is great, with Indian VT Registration marking to markings in Hindi and marking on each window and the typical lines of Air India livery. Well done pal.
The dislikes are from those people who can't even make 1 fold properly By the way I love the fact you choose Air India Livery above all others knowing that it (probably?) can't be undone! I am Indian and a fan of your work! Subscribed and liked right away!
I agree not using color paint. Maintaining the evident manila folder origin is part of the beauty of this well done work. Admire the tedious attention to detail.
If I could be that dedicated in just one thing in my life it'll be a huge achievement. This video deserves way more views! Thanks a lot for sharing, can't wait to see the next one.
Hats off to your creativity and perseverance, man! . How many hours of hard and concentrated elaborate work done here. Thanks for choosing Air India. You just beat the real commercial plastic airline models with your skills. Salute!
really not sure why there is a sudden surge of negative comments, although a lot of them are word for word copies of each other. I'm guessing some sort of bot or just trolls. regardless, I watched this video over a year ago, and again today, still do not consider it a waste of time, and am completely inspired and amazed at the craftsmanship. only thing is i cringe when you pull back the tape and it grabs some of the manila folder with it.
+VideoAndMore the work that went into scratch-building a large scale super detailed model. Is it not obvious. I have scratch-built many a wooden ship model in the past and not one of them, not a single one, had a lick of paint on it beyond clear coats. It's almost a crime to hide the work involved.
And this is how you keep people whatching the whole video by making them wait for the magic moment when you reveal all that actual paint you promissed in the title. Please understand that my critique is not directed towards your work or the model, which are both amazing. It is just a shame that you used such a misleading title and description.
+Christian Lang (MasterTRL) I have problem with more than a title. Seriously, the model is superb, why not paint it? Or at least the parts that are "different". What is the point of those "shiny" spots, they are barely visible even in darkness with light on big angle. I'm sure there is reason the actual paint can't be used but there has to be SOMETHING.
Naxster I disagree with you there. Of course the guy can totally decide how to paint or not paint his own creation. It's not like he has to follow any rules if he does this just for himself. He let's us take part in what he himself loves and I appreciate that. Only the fact that I,because of the misleading description, actually expected some colour bothers me.
Christian Lang I'm not saying he CAN'T do that. I'm saying "dude, why?" Maybe there is actually good reason, I just can't see it and I weep over unused opportunity.
I am from India and I can tell that the work is just mind boggling.! u really did it the best possible manner. I am glad that u didn't paint it, otherwise the essence that it is made up of Paper would have gone away. ! Amazing detail. Unique work! :)
I'm sure the lines show up more in person that what I can see in this video. VERY impressive work you've done here. one question, how do you make such tiny strips of tape?
Can't speak for the poster, but I use a metal ruler & a scalpel over graph paper (helps keep the widths consistent)... The result is the same, thin strips of tape.
Stephen Troyer Stick the tape down onto something flat, but don't press it down so that you have to peel & tear to get it off. You need to select an appropriate tape for this to work so that it doesn't lose its stickiness. Use the metal ruler to guide the scalpel blade as you cut the tape into strips. It gives crisp, clean strips of any thickness you desire.
+Stephen Troyer Probably not the easier, more high tech answer you were looking for lol... Though it takes patience, the result works for me. But I speak only for myself, there may well be better ways to do it
I don't get it..... WTF... it never got painted... All that suspense and no satisfaction of painting... You have given me an itch that I cant scratch....
***** Honestly it think it's perfect. The main focus is that it's made out of manilla folder! thats what makes it so special! (aside from the meticulous detailing that went into it) Painting over it would of limited it to just being "some model" to the average viewer.
OH MY GOD OMG THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS AMAZING PASSION MAN. As a model maker, I have never thought that there other people that are crazier detail than me, my gosh. I am so inspired by your passion. That is a really cool man. Neat, awesome, sick looking tiny details and so f*****k pleasing to my eyes.
I just loved it 👌👌... And your hard work and patience ...OMG , and I m happy to see that you made the plane from my country India. I like it..Love from India🇮🇳 ..God bless you👍👍
Love from India what a wonderful guy so much passionate and I guess he has ∞ amount of patience I would have given up just by thinking the video building up such a model
ALL YOU HATE COMMENTS THIS IS HIS HOBBY AND I RESPECT THAT ALSO ITS HIS CHOICE OF COLOR WHAT YOU CALL PERFECT MAY NOT BE WHAT HE CALLS PERFECT HE MAKES THIS OUT OF FILE PAPERS I BET THAT IF YOU SAW THIS IN A MUSEM YOU WOULD RESPECT THAT. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T LIKE HIS HOBBY DOESN’TMEAN IT’S STUPID 😤✈️🛩📁
You have to use a bunch of smaller pieces of paper to achieve smooth compound curves like that. It's a technique that I've gotten better at over the years. The early versions were pretty crude.
Luca Iaconi-Stewart do u have a blueprint on those? I am failing to visualize how it is done.😂 actually, i made folder planes before, 10 years ago, but not as good as yours. Seeing your work ignited the “architect” and “engineer” ego of mine. Hahaha.
Was doing the cockpit hard, because I saw a picture of it and it blew me away at how much detail you had put into it from the throttle levers go everything else. I still can't believe that this is out of Manila folders and paper. Amazing job! Are you going to do this with other aircraft as well?
Planelover4life Yea, it was pretty hard, partly cause of the detail but also because it was just really hard to access the space to install stuff. Glad it's over with! But I'm still working on this model... don't have any other planned atm as this has taken me years (on and off).
I respect the work you're doing on the plane all together....but no the "paint job" looks rubbish...I get understating stuff but if you need a dark room and a light to barely see it....
when you see this video and just wanted to make something like that paper plane too but then you ask your mom *mom can i have manila folder?* mom: why you: because i want to make a paper plane model mom: what kind of person would make a paper plane model and also no im not buying you manila folder you:i like planes and why? mom:because it will make a mess around the house edit:sucks to be a child when you cant get what you want even its cheap *in my opinion*
Unreal. Your patience is staggering. Also, what an unprecedented amount of complaining in here. People had time to type a negative comment but didn't bother to read the description. No one forced you to watch the whole thing and you could have skipped to the end. Great video, lovely choice in music. I only wish some could appreciate this level of skill and craftsmanship. Well done.
I understand your reasons for the faint liveries, but I just don't get it. To build something so grand but can't tell it's painted?? Oh, you can? But only if the light points that way. In the dark. Don't get me wrong, over the last hour I've discovered all the pics and vids of this model and it is absolutely awesome. But if I'm to be an honest critic, I think you let your project down with the livery idea. But, its just one man's opinion. Let the masses speak!
I don't blame you for thinking that. It was a lot of work for almost nothing. I still am convinced I would have ruined it if I'd tried to paint it in full color. Trust me, I would have loved to, but I also like seeing the manila folder look.
***** I was thinking if you were to make another, it would be a lot less work because you've already solved all the problems. I'm sure you saved the CAD drawings. On the next one, maybe paint one side of it, or half of it in a "half colored in" type of thing. Maybe a different material for the next one... Anyhow, it was so good to see the entire project. This article here www.viralnova.com/manila-folder-model/ was shared by someone through Facebook and I went from there. I hope you get a lot more interest in it in the future and it turns out to be more than worth your while!
It is those slight additions that make it look more complete. I do professional photography and sometimes just moving something in a scene a small bit or in the post-production you change the white balance a notch, may seem futile. But the tiny bits here and there, build up to perfection.
