Beautiful polishes!! I was educated solely in French up until college (I live in Canada; my Mom was from Montréal). Being bilingual in both of Canada's official languages definitely opened up job opportunities that wouldn't have been available to me if I only spoke English.
😂😂😂😂 your little joke but mostly your excitement and finally getting to tell it towards the end of the video was so stinking adorable! I had to giggle at you! You were so adorable! I speak English, but as a child we lived in Germany on two separate occasions totaling almost 7 years. I'm Puerto Rican and I've heard Spanish throughout most of my life. Unfortunately, my parents never taught me even though I wanted them to. Presently, I am at a level A2 or a B1 in Spanish and I am at level A1 almost a level A2 in German, I am A1 in Indonesian, and I am presently learning how to read in Japanese.
@@KelliMarissa honestly it's easier than I thought it was going to be. Now I'm presently only learning the first two forms of Japanese. I haven't gotten to kanji yet. That's where it's kind of kicking my butt a little bit, but it's mostly because I haven't had time to dedicate to it. I started learning hiragana and Katakana on Duolingo and then I found a few other apps. I got blank workbooks and just started doing each letter of their alphabet and writing it repeatedly and it kind of cemented it. Slow and steady.... Lol. Oh, where can I find your p.o. box address? Is it on Instagram? I got that polish in the mail that I wanted to send you.
😂 I kept thinking “They look like they have Oreos crushed in them - 😐 great now I want an Oreo McFlurry or Blizzard something.”🤦🏻♀️ *Mint would be pretty!
REALLY impressed with the opacity of this collection! Yes We Cran gets my vote for fave color, but honestly the entire color story is just gorgeous. All About That Baste definitely wins in the best name category 😂 I'm currently learning ASL (American Sign Language) - if that counts 😊
CRIMINY!!! the rainbow chip series has gone straight to my heart! and caused much ado to make space for polishes on the shelves. I LOVE THESE. painted, you are killing me😻and kelli: pheonmenal as always💜
💚💛💙💜Beautiful as always!!!!! I really like them all!!!! English Portuguese and french!!!! Hope you are feeling much better!!!! You are so sweet , you deserve all the best in this world!!!!!
I’ve been watching you passively since 2017 and you are the person who influenced me to start painting my own nails! I love how satisfying all your swatches are ❤
I have loved all of the Rainbow Chip collections. I'm a speckled polish girl!! Thanks again for the wonderful swatches! Hope you are healing from your surgery and enjoying some downtime, Kelli!
I grew up speaking English, but I became interested in Spanish in 3rd grade when I had a crush on a Mexican-American boy in my class. I started taking Spanish classes in high school and majored in it in college. But I was always scared to speak it. Then I did a study abroad trip to Costa Rica (a GORGEOUS country, by the way), and I had to speak it there. That got me over my fear, and I still speak it. I also love listening to music in Spanish, which helps to keep it fresher in my mind. Have been to more Spanish-language concerts than English ones in recent years. I speak a tiny bit of French as I had to study another language for my major. Would like to learn more French.
Love Painted Polish sprinkles polishes! Every collection is prettier than the last. I studied French for 11 years and was able to read books in French. Unfortunately, that was 45 years ago and I've lost most of it. I remember enough to get Jeopardy questions right if it's French-based!
I love this collection for the names alone!! Much Ado About Stuffing and Zero Plucks Given are my favorite colors and names. I don't know if the name made me love the color or it was the other way around. But I laughed all the way through the video. This is great. I want these just for the names. Painted Polish always names their polishes so funny. I love it. 😂❤
I love these 😍🥰 I agree- these in a skittles mani are Awesome! One of my favorite summer mani’s was all the blues from Part I and II in a skittle- it was sooo beautiful! I only have Zero Plucks Given right meow but after this, I’m definitely wanting more of them (especially make a wish bone) I only speak English fluently but I can speak conversational Spanish. I married into a family where my mother-in-law and sister-in-law speak like six different languages, very intimidating. My husband grew up partly in Amsterdam, so I’m learning a little bit of Dutch. It’s a hilarious language. Sounds like silly English 😂 I always wanted to learn French and Japanese 🤷🏻♀️ but they are both incredibly difficult. Lol Thanks for another great video! 💕
I really like the black speckles in these. I like extra things in my polish like flakies, different shaped glitters, everything really. I don’t have any like this currently but I am very much into the skittle idea with this collection.
Loved the joke! I like this collection better than I’ve liked collections 1 & 2, oddly enough. 🤷🏼♀️ The black flakes work better for winter, fall to me than other seasons. 😁
Love. Speckles. It's such a signature look for indie polishes. I have the orange and green, but should have gotten the yellow too! Thanks for the code!
I love the colors of this whole collection and how excited you are about them! Speckled polish isn’t my style, but these are certainly beautiful speckled polishes!
It's funny, because I was doing a Duolingo lesson while watching your video! 😂 I am learning German. I took it in highschool, but didn't apply myself back then, so I am learning it now. I love black speckle nail polishes. These are pretty!
OMG! Another darker collection of this would be amazing!!! This collection was a must. I think this part was my favorite so far. Thank you for the swatches, I saw these on painted polish and I panicked that I missed the swatch and review! They are already on the way 😊
@@KelliMarissa Same! And take all the time you need, I know you are recovering and everyone deserves that time. ❤️ I have been enjoying your older videos. I love seeing the nail art and sort of seeing how you formed the way you do videos now. It's so cool!
This is a nice collection and I like the names as well as the feast mode pun lol. As soon as I saw the last one’s name I knew you would be happy about it and its placement in the rainbow order lol
These shades are amazing! Gorgeous. I love all of them but that bottom row is chef’s kiss! 🤌🏻♥️I also have fallen in love with speckled polishes. I really didn’t like them at all two years ago. Painted Polishes are so good, too. They apply so well. Thank you for swatching them, Kelli! Happy New Year! I wish for you a wonderful year full of more creative endeavors! ♥️
I LOVE speckled polishes! I also hope Painted Polish comes out with even more shades in this finish. Other than English, I used to speak Spanish and was even one class away from having a minor in it in college. I haven’t had many opportunities to use it in the last 10 years, so I feel like I’ve lost a lot of it.
@@KelliMarissaone day at a time will get you there! I have lupus, and covid really hit me hard the day after Christmas, today I went out for my first walk since the 26th, and was short of breath and lightheaded. Be kind to yourself and get lots of rest! 🤗 Also, I'm bilingual, French and English (Canadian), and I've also casually been trying to learn Spanish over the years. French does help quite a bit in understanding Spanish, but not so much for Italian.
English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. The first two were what I learned as a child (family is Dominican) and the last one I started learning almost 6 years ago. I get tripped up in each one at times 😂 but I’m trying! Spanish is the easiest to learn tbh- compared to English it has fewer grammar exceptions. Go for it! 😊❤🎉
I got two from their original collection during their Black Friday sale and can’t wait to wear them!! I don’t usually wear pastels but the black flakes added in really make them special. I would buy all the chip collections if I could 😍
I'm not much into speckles, but this collection makes me want to get more of them! I'm a bilingual baby and living trilingual, now almost 4-lingual life, and speak about 8 languages conversationally + understand but not speak in some more. Wouldn't call myself a language nerd, just picked up bits of different languages while moving from country to country.
Can you do a comparison of the 3 speckled collections?! Now that theres three my minds like 😵💫. I love them but im not ready to buy 3 entire collections 😅. Id like to see all the blues together ect.
My husband and his family speak Spanish so I’ve picked some of it up 😅 Enough that I can sort of follow a conversation or translate a few sentences. My dad’s side of the family is from Italy so I’ve been trying to learn Italian as well. I probably knew it pretty well at some point as a baby/toddler because I spent alot of time with my grandparents and that was their first language 😄
They really are beautiful! Maybe worth joining some FB groups where you can swap polishes with people so you can try new brands without dropping much $$!
I really love this collection and snagged it immediately on thanksgiving when it came out. You got me into crelly and speckle polishes, from watching your videos, and i thank you for it. They're so gorgeous, especially for a skittles mani.
I’m loving these speckled polishes. I need to just go ahead and get myself some but it’s so hard to choose!! I speak English and what I like to call “drunken French”. 😊
What I usually do for textured polishes is use a glitter eating topcoat then a thikk glossy topcoat…that does the trick! I’d love to see a comparison of each of the colors next to their corresponding lighter versions, so I can see if I need all of these. I did buy two of them but held back on the entire collection since I have the other two full collections. I know it’s a tall order but if you’re so inclined…! 😉😄 What I’d love to see rather than an even darker black speckled collection is to start all over but instead of black add shards/glitters of the same color, but darker for contrast. So, the light pink would have a darker pink glitter, the peach a darker peach glitter, etc. I just adore that look! Maybe throw in a little shimmer or micro holo…Painted Polish, are you listening?? 😄😄😄🤞
@KelliMarissa oh my gosh, I can't believe you replied!! Having a huge fan girl moment 🥰 I love all your posts and I do pray (or send good vibes) for not only your mental health (I have big anxiety and depression problems) but your physical health and healing. Your videos bring me so much joy! Ahh!! Trying to contain myself 🫠
Sooooo... I'm French, so I speak french, english fluently, and I'm married to a Greek so I kinda understand greek. Thanks for that nice review. I will say, I follow you on a lot of things, but I'm not a fan of the black specks, so I'll leave them to you ^^ I still watch your videos though, just because you put love into them and I would miss you 😂
These are pretty, and I'm not normally crazy about speckled polishes. I especially like Yes We Cran and the last four polishes! I speak English natively and am conversational in French - I minored in French and did a study abroad. I'd love to learn something really out there, like Esperanto or Klingon. Or maybe Dutch.
You can always buy a glitter grabber top coat if you're not into textured polishes 😊 I am a bit of a language nerd, so I speak Danish (native language), Norwegian, German, Spanish and a little Greek. I have been trying to learn Polish (duolingo), for an embarrassing number of years, as my husband comes from Poland, but I have no willpower, like at all...
Love the purple the most. All great though. Love the speckles. I have a topper with black speckles. Should use it more. Hope things are looking up for you. Spanish would be nice to know. Took in high school, but only learned a few sentences. The teacher was awful truthfully. None of us learned much. It wasn't just me lol.
OMG now I want those and the previous set 😅 I speak french, I learned English all by myself with a little base in school but I did the most by myself 😅 I want to learn Spanish and ASL next. A RU-vidr I follow said it was easier, from him, to learn Spanish since he was already speaking french as second languages. I guess it's true since they're both from the same base language 😊
i don't have any of these (yet) but the blue/teal and the purples do look perfect for the winter season. i lost almost all my knowledge of spanish after high school (got through the equivalent of an intermediate college level of the language). i think ASL would be the most useful language to learn (the college where i teach actually has an amazing ASL and Interpreter program). and i once tried to learn german but couldn't get up the motivation to stick with it.
@KelliMarissa -- Love the idea of the black speckles, but I'm one of those people who is bothered by too much texture! Surprisingly, even though I'm a green and purple fan, my favorites in this collection are Make A Wish Bone and Much Ado About Stuffing. These just showed up the best to my eye. :) I loved that they included so many different shades of purple and blue. I LOVE gel formulas for glitters, because they are able to "lay down" any type of glitter sooo flat and so beautifully! But right now, I'm sadly wearing NOTHING since I suddenly developed allergies to my beloved gels and other products, and am coping with where to go from here & working with my allergist. Two weeks ago, I was going to get rid of all my regular polish; now, I'm probably going to have to let go of all my gels. I know there are far worse medical things people are coping with, but on a personal level it's very depressing. I feel naked without my extensions and polish. Re: foreign languages, any town where hospitality is a major industry will likely include many Spanish speakers, so IMO that will serve you really well; since you're near New Mexico, Arizona, and California, you'll find many other speakers there. I used to travel to Virginia for work, and I would have loved to have been more fluent in Spanish, since I encountered so many Spanish speakers working in hospitality and travel. My 2nd language in high school was French, which I originally wanted to learn for different cooking and sewing terminology, but has come in handy for much more. I then taught myself basic Italian before going on a trip there, and really loved it -- I have been obsessed with Italy forever, and it was great to finally know a bit of the language. But unfortunately, it's truly rare that I encounter a native French or Italian speaker where I live. Spanish speakers, however, are everywhere, and I feel I really need to work on my fluency with it. Some say that it's similar to Italian, but my own experience is that while a word here or there may be similar, there is plenty that is VERY different. For learning programs, I wasn't really thrilled with Duolingo... I prefer a more structured way of learning a language than diving straight into conversation, but it seems that's the way languages are being taught now. It's frustrating, because I feel I need more of a foundation first. Another RU-vidr recommended the Babbel app, but I may look to other online resources first.
oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about the gel situation :( Don't feel bad about being sad over it, that IS stressful and frustrating! I've heard of gel allergies starting out of nowhere and it's definitely a scary situation. Maybe in the meantime you can get back into regular polish and gel-like top coats to try to emulate that feeling - KBShimmer's top coat imo is really close to a gel like feel!
@@KelliMarissa It's actually been a journey over many years of jumping from acrylics to polygel to glue-on softgel tips, and trying to outrun allergies, but I think this is the end of the road. My thumbnails are misshapen from damage, so I may be trying adhesive tabs to attach tips since I cannot use superglue. I'm sure this is not going to hold up very well, though. :(
I looove speckled polishes and they hit it out of the park again! I think my favorite is also Make A Wish-Bone! Also I speak Polish and English but I would love to know how to speak a tonal language like Mandarin Chinese or Japanese. it's so interesting to me, I like how they sound. One of my professors in college was Chinese who would have a word up on the board whenever we had class and for the first 15-20min, he would teach us that word in Mandarin, the tone to say it in, example of how to use it and what it means if we say it in another tone etc. Best part: it was a business management class so it was totally unrelated, but that always started class off on a great note because everyone was having a good time with it and it was interesting!!
Hi Kelli! I've been learning Spanish with Duolingo. I've been working at it for about a year now, and I'm starting to practice with some of the Spanish speakers at work. I would love to learn Italian and maybe Greek. I'm also a nerd, and I would love to learn Sindarin and Andunaic (Lord of the Rings languages).
Wow that's so impressive!! How early did you start? Sometimes I feel like I missed my chance because I didn't start learning young but it seems like a lot of people have grasped new languages as adults!
@KelliMarissa not that early, Latin in high school and started German in college. The Korean I started about 10 years ago. It's definitely true that you need to use it or you will lose it. I find I learn better in a classroom setting.
I really wish I knew sign language. My neighbors are deaf, so I've learned some very basic greetings to at least be able to say hi, good night, etc. However, I wish I could have a conversation with them the way I would all my other neighbors.
Nice collection! I only speak English, but would love to learn Japanese. I know a few words from Anime and also my stepmom is actually Japanese. When she talks to my little sister sometimes I get the gist of what she says, but don’t know anything more than a few words.
I'm a french canadian who learned english after moving to Florida, then back to Canada after 😅. As someone who's first language is french, I always found it odd when people think it would be easier to learn french after spanish; I've been trying to learn spanish for years now and nope, not happening 😂
these are such interesting shades i gotta check out painted polish! i'm a blurple person so make a wishbone is my favourite out of these shades i'm fluent in both english and mandarin! it was mandatory education where i'm from and i may not have appreciated it when i was a kid but i do now 😂i'd love to learn japanese and italian but i always drop off of duolingo (the owl is not happy with me i'm sure)
These remind me of a drugstore brand called "Essence" that some years ago, made a small collection of 3-5 nailpolishes they called "The porcelains". They were very light pastel cremes with a texture and look of, well, porcelain. They had teeny tiny black specks in then (way smaller than here) and I think something else to achieve the mentioned finish. I ended up getting rid of them bc they were too close to white for my taste and I never used them 😢
I majored in French (guess how useful that's been while living in Texas! 😂) and also speak some Italian and a tiny bit of Russian. I'd love to learn Spanish, I come back to it every once in a while on DuoLingo but still haven't gotten too far.
I'm an American who took Spanish in high school and college and I only remember bits and pieces of it. However my boyfriend of 2+ years is Taiwanese and Mandarin Chinese is his first language, so I've been learning Chinese. It's fun having a partner to help with lessons but also teach me more casual, less textbook Chinese as well. Also Chinese is nuts because they don't really have verb tenses like in English, French, Spanish... so the grammer is easier but learning the characters is harder lol
Curious to know if you've ever tried to engineer your own versions of these 'chip' polishes using unrelated, but similar items such as Cirque's Spotted??? As for the languages thing: I'd like to learn ASL; alas, I too am an American who was "a fool in school" and missed that opportunity.
I haven't but I looooove a jelly sandwich with Spotted haha! I almost exclusively use it for sandwiches over using it as a topper but I probably should use it as a topper too 😅
I wish I could speak German. My first language is swedish and I can understand Norwegian, and Danish (if they speak really slowly😂) because all those languages are really similar. And then I know English from school, and just because it's the universal lingua franca. But what I really wish I could speak is German, which also KIND OF has similarities to swedish and as a Swede I think it's really helpful, and you have a lot of use for it. So German is what I'm focusing on when I use duolingo like...once every six months😂
