I left a hand unfinished to share the process of color application. Watch me set the palette, pre-mix some skin tones and apply brush strokes to build a naturalistic skin color for the hand. And of course...you will hear all thoughts! lol!

I don't think there is another artist I follow that inspires me more than you Cesar. Can there be such a thing as tempered passion? Gentle intensity? Quiet thunder? I find your work to be poetry in paint - not just because it is just so beautiful, but because of who you are which shines through. I feel you share your knowledge with little to no ego. That is a beautiful and rare thing. When I watch your videos, these thoughts are what I am always left with. You are in love with art, feel blessed that you have this life in which you create it and that you feel a burning desire to share it with others. It is never, "Look what I can do!". It is always, "Look what has and can be done! And what you can do too!"

Cesar, I want to take a moment to thank you. I started painting two years ago and have been watching your videos and tutorials and I so very much appreciate your approach to art. For me, you have such a wonderful balance of the hands on, technical approach, as well as the very important philosophical side of the form. All this to say thank you and I pray every blessing for you and your family.

Cesar, thanks so much for this great video. The combination of colors and how to make them work is amazing. I love the way you talk about art, I call it true creative, honest passion! Your process is so inspiring. Question: could the colors be substituted with something similar? I have most of the colors, but for practice, is it ok to use a substitute color? Best wishes and much success in everything you do. Blessings, take care and be safe. Thanks for all you do.

Dear Cesar, I would like to see the full version of this painting from beginning right to the end, no matter how long it took the painting process. You see I am starting my first portrait painting and I am having trouble with the skin tones - getting the right color combinations to do a baby, my son. I hope you can let me see your whole skin tone mixing, please. Love watching your RU-vid videos and learning more. Love & Many Blessings, from Annie Queensland AUSTRALIA.

Be careful, because, from what I read, the lead based colours, combined with cadmiums, will make the mixture get dark with time (darker than normal anyway). Is a kind of bed chemical reaction between them.

Your demonstration is priceless. Thanks so very much for it. You are so an amazing artist that I hesitate to mention one minor point in your beautiful painting. My eyes cannot stop going to the left hand of the sitter. It looks to me, and with all respect, that there is something not quite right with it. That it doesn't look natural. Y don't know if it is its overall size, its width, the spread of the fingers, particularly the little one. But of course, that can be my ignorance. My deepest apologies.
@moutserge
@moutserge 9 месяцев назад

Did you plan for the tornado to come out of her ear? And the background step-down occurring behind her head and the change from yellow to green? You have perfected skin but your composition is confusing and distracting.

Unfortunately, even from your underpainting stage it looks as if the tornado is coming out of her right ear. Bad composition in that regard. The rest of the creative process is wonderful.

Please don't misunderstand, but what bothers me so much about this kind of art in general, apart from the kitschy themes, is the clichéd depiction. It is not a special hand of this special woman. (Well, the hand that belongs to this woman.) It's not the face of a specific woman! It could well be the face of an AI-generated woman that he is painting. It's just the superficial look of a hand, a face. Almost cartoonishly reduced to an everyday hand, as you see them everywhere. The way you imagine a hand. It's neither fish nor fowl, as they say in Germany! I know it's a bit difficult to understand what I mean. But maybe one or two of you will question it!

Salu2.

The side-long glance really nails it, with the eyes closed it was like an 8.5 but with the with the side-long glance it's a definite 10; something I would pay money for if I had it. Maybe it's because it adds an element of mystery? It let's the viewer inject their own imagination into it. What is she looking at that could possibly be more interesting than a tornado or a wolf?? P.s. As always Great content! Very helpful as I'm struggling with a hand in one of my paintings lol
