@@douglasmcgraw1572 Thanks Douglas, I really like the sponge technique, makes the whole thing so simple and I like the way it looks. This has definitely been my most popular lure / pattern and I have caught some nice fish with it on my other channel @Buck Tales Outdoors.
Thanks Mike, not great video of the eye gluing process but trying to give people an idea of all of what's involved. Appreciate you watching and commenting !
Looking great Don... really cool to see the process from start to finish. It never occurred to me that you had to do all that work getting the trebles on. I hate replacing those things!
Don, these look absolutely fantastic (so does that large glide bait). I also finally sent you an e-mail update on the lure you sent me, sorry it was so late in coming.
@@AnglingSpiders Thanks Sean ! Got your email and responded in kind. I hope you win the end of the season giveaway from the original lure you won, if you do that big glide could be yours or I will paint one in a pattern of your choosing. At this point you are one of two would have sent me a pic of a fish caught on one of the six lures I gave away. Hoping a few others send me pics. I am gonna do that drawing on Sept 3rd ( day after Labor Day)
I think the sponge looks great on them. Man you have a better system for getting those split rings done then I do. I usually use my fingernail to open them to change out old hooks on my bait. I have to got get a pair of those split ring plyers. Great Job on there Don!!
subbed you here for support. Do you order the basic bodies somewhere? That is so cool. Great job on painting. I love to paint too, so very interesting. The sponge look is definitely great.
@@NicoleHikesalot Thanks Nicole ! I order most of my blanks from Amazon but also get some from another source. I have seen some of your art work and it is very nice ! If you were into fishing I would love to exchange pieces.
@@vaughnprecision Thanks for watching ! I currently use TrueCoat 2 part epoxy. It takes a bit of time with a 12 hour cure cycle and I use 2 coats so you’re basically looking at adding 2 days to the process but the smell is not an issue and since I am doing this in the utility room in my basement that is important, especially for my wife. I have talked to some other painters who use KBS Diamond Coat, which is a dip type clear coat but have been told it has a longer drying time and the odor is very strong so that would not fly in my house.
