I have seen you do many landscapes and I very much admire your skills. This is the first portrait I've seen you do. Amazing. As an artist, breaking down your painting is a skill that is essential. Starting with the blocking stage gives you a roadmap as to where to go next. Color choice is critical as well. Then refinement. Bottom line, You make a very difficult task seem easy. Thank you very much Michael for sharing your skills. You can be the new Leonardo da Vinci of out era. Keep up the amazing work.

Yes! True! This is the first time I saw him doing a portrait ! Till now, I have seen only his landscape paintings. But he proves that he is equally good at portraits also. One thing makes me his fan is his ability to do extremely realistic and detailed paintings! I am yet to see some else who does it like him! Yes, he makes a very difficult task seem easy. But that is the problem ! ;-) If I try it, nothing will work out the way he does! In fact, the mixing of colours in such a way they seem very natural and creating the fine details can be achieved only through constant and long experimentation and practice!

As someone who has spent countless hours drawing/painting super fine lines, when you began detailing his dermis, and adding the multitude of hair strands, i found it so satisfying, and soothing. Thank you for that.

Only in the past two years have I said the words “I’m an artist” and felt comfortable saying it. I paint paintings. Landscapes mainly. But after watching you Michael, paint this, each pore, hair and wrinkle, starting with medium tones then making it completely baby butt smooth then adding all of those things that cause it to come alive, I don’t think I qualify to say ‘I’m an artist’, when referring to myself anymore. You really make it fun to learn and to genuinely believe that you could possibly do this one day. Very beautiful and amazing. Even more a fan today than I was yesterday. 👍🏼🤍

I've followed your landscapes , with such incredible detail , then you hit us with this , OMG , you see the world in a different way to everyone else , such attention to detail , you can paint anything , with such a small brush , down a pixel level , I'm blown away . The lessons for this work together last approximately 21 hours. he can probably do it faster if he does not have to give all the explanations while painting. It's a really long lesson :)

Michael, which do you find more challenging to paint- landscapes or portraits? I have watched you paint dozens of landscapes, and this portrait seems to me to be even more detailed and nuanced in its colors and shading than even your most detailed landscape. You handle both subjects with great skill, but I am just wondering if the portraiture takes more effort to produce your characteristic outstanding results than your landscapes. I will keep watching you, no matter WHAT you paint, however. Everything you paint is exceptional.

この細かい表現をほぼ１手で描き進めていく技に感動すら覚えます。きっと、職業画家としてのキャリアを進める中で、なるべく速く満足のいくクオリティーにするのに磨いてきたテクニックなんだと感じました。たくさんの絵を仕上げて、たくさん売らなければならない画家という仕事をするには、描くスピード、手数も重要な要素ですよね。昔のフレスコを描いていた画家なんかもかなりの少ない手数で仕上げてしまうテクニックを持っていたんだろうな…

Hello it's me again the guy from future rants back to an earlier video to do that again ?? You are absolutely amazing! in future comments I mentioned you should take past works of art (my first thought was Bob Ross).. and now I'm thinking you could make any classical painting people know, into a new piece of art (not necessarily better..) but to the extreme of realism it could have been! I'm sure it's blaspheming!!! but I would love to see it ! It's something nobody else has ever been brave enough to do.. and I think if you do it as well as I think you can it won't be disrespectful!!!l it's just another point of view, like remaking a classic song into something that hits the tops..!!

That's not what you would call an 'elderly' man, but a man in his late 60's, or 70's, who appears to be in possession of his faculties. An elderly person is one who is visibly losing their abilities: gait, stature, hearing, vision, etc, someone in their 80's or 90's and showing it. (Although I've seen one man 102 years old who stopped riding a horse at 90 and looked much better than some 80 year olds.) But do you see my point?

I rarely comment about ones skills on youtube but your skill with a brush are up there with the master's. I wouldn't be surprised if your paintings become sought after years down the road. Your actually right there with Michelangelo if you want my opinion. Do you have any abstract paintings? That should be your next video. A painting from thought and vision.

I haven't seen him using anything other than oils! So without any indication, you can safely assume he is using oil paints.
