Everything that man has written is gold. Differently Morphus is lovecraftain humor, and Will Save the Galaxy for Food is a fantastic, satirical take on space cowboy stories. Jam is the gray goo scenario but with strawberry jam.
Love how even if unintentional, the rust spots make it look like the titan is bleeding Also some missiles should definitely be missing with some weathering around the ports to make it look like the missile exhaust had an effect of the paint and metal
Hey ^^ Doubt you'll spot this but I bought Space Marine 4 off you a while back :) So awesome seeing the project coming together since it started as I was getting into the Hobby at that time I had like 12 space marines, now it's grown to a full 2K point army and a growing 1k point Knight army! Cannot wait to see this finished! It looks amazing, I wish I could describe how stunning it is, I am so jealous!
@@MidwinterMinis The chzo mythos is so cool. Odd how that series contains both examples of his very best writing, and his very worst though… but Trillby’s Notes more than makes up for any shortfalls he might have made with the ending to his sci-fi episode.
I love that your mom helped you paint this. My mom often helps me pick the colors for my art. Some of my favorite drawings and paintings are the ones where my mom chose the colors
This titan doesn't look fresh off the parade ground, it looks like it's walking on the end of a long campaign with a demi-legio's worth of engine kills under its belt. Also, power claw and plasma annihilator has always been the pair of guns I've found the most cool looking.
Oooooh exciting! As someone who does snow bases I 100% would recommend snow on this beast, it's got to be Midwinter after all! Also some missing missiles I think would also be really cool, but not randomly missing as real launchers would fire off in a systematic pattern.
Was just about to comment about firing patterns as well, however there is always the chance for a hung rocket that wouldn’t leave the tube. Not an ideal situation to have happen, and probably a giant pain in the ass to resolve when your launcher is that high off the ground. RIP to the low ranking ad mech loader that has to safe that munition.
"Hear me heretics, you beleive you have come here for war. You are wrong, I am war, through ice and snow I march, I bear the names of those before me on this ancient machine, hear the plasma roar, watch my missiles crush thee. You cannot win agasint the oncoming tide of winter." Anyways, amazing work as always guy it reminds me of the old knight you painted up which was my first video on your channel I ended up viewing, I hope you are enjoying your day and enjoy Christmas eve
As I found to my cost, I think you can pretty much consider the GW rattle cans as primers. They contain about 33% acetone, which melts the paint into the plastic!! Also the Titan is looking amazing, loving it so far.
Snow would be amazing on the base and titan, with some melted snow effects on the warmer parts (plasma annihilator, vents, etc.) if possible. Would also be cool to see some birds/similar flying creatures flying around the top to add to the effect of just how massive it is (similar to the birds flying around the Tripods in War of the Worlds). Always amazing to see your work Guy, I hope you and your family have an amazing Christmas and New Year. Cheers from Canada!
Lol that little bit of sharpie will almost certainly come through eventually. I've done this on purpose with a painting I made with acrylic, where a hidden drawing came up through the layers of paint a couple years later. Permanent marker is brutal.
We can see the finish line! The warlord looks incredible guy and I’m 100% in on having some snow. Have a great Christmas and I’m looking forward to the first video of 2023!
If the base is gonna be snow, I’d really love to see a plasma-esque-firey-red glow coming out of the vents at the back to contrast it. Even though (hopefully) the titan doesn’t run on coal, it might help it feel more alien, and therefore powerful in the landscape! Wonderful content as always - hope you have a lovely Christmas!
regarding spray primer. you want to keep the rattle-can warm to help the paint flow out while spraying. As you spray the pressure inside the can will decrease making it colder. Throw it under your armpit for a few mins before starting and as you are rotating models, just keep it under there to help it stay warm. And thin sprays.
You should leave some missiles out, but you should also consider getting some smoke effects, like you can find on Deadly Print Studios, to make it look like some are blasting out. If you are going for the Winter theme with snow, you could make a few icicles hanging from the armor plating.
i would actually say that cold temperatures may be better for some priming-purposes because the pressure in the can gets lower. A s an old graffitiwriter i actually sometimes used to put my cans in the freezer for a while for better control and if u want the pressure back the other way you can heat it up (NOT IN FIRE) but maybe in your armpit or perhaps warm water!
Chaos Black primer really needs to be warmed up to around 30 - 36 degrees to get the best adhesion, the first couple of layers need to be a dusting then the subsequent layers to fill in the gaps, the initial dusting coats help bring texture to large panels, washing large panels in some soapy water also helps with primer adhesion, being the impatient person I am I want to get stuck into painting ASAP, leaving the primer dry for 12 hours or so really helps with the primer rubbing off this goes double for airbrush primer. That stuff will come away if you breath at it the wrong way if it hasn't had substantial time to cure. Love this series. Excellent work.
Just a note on the spraying when cold - it's just the pressure would be slightly less, like you said, probably no real issue and just keep shaking the can to warm it up but you'll notice a pressure loss if you don't do this - I think that's the problem most people have. Most people probably already know this and I sound patronising as heck, but it's something worthwhile knowing, and knowing the reasons why :)
It looks amazing!!! As far as the missiles go, I think they need to mostly be in the chambers, a few gone and already shot, a few that are being fired. Smoke trails coming from them and maybe even magnetized in place so they can be removed for easy transport.
As someone living in the nordics with "fun" winters. Just be sure to shake the can well and warm the can under a tap with hot water. Always works for me.
For the missiles, I actually think having some of them in the process of firing would look awesome. Some empty tubes, some yet to be fired, the rest *being* fired.
I'd love to see sow on every non engine part and specifically the ground and only a few missiles missing. Love the project and alle the best to you and your family!
THIS IS AMAZING! You need to do a battle report of a small force of marines plus the warlord vs a small force of orks plus the mega gargant! Also I am thirsting for the next start collecting battle!
I don't have a a temperature controlled space to use spray paints, so I have to use them outdoors. I have found that spray paints are *very* sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. This affects the distance you have to spray at, the dispersion of the paint (it's 'width' of spray). The overall coating, and how consistent the paint looks.
Looks amazing, some snow all over the model and base would be perfect! You might wanna consider where snow would collect the most overtime and add rust streaks running down from there as the heat of various parts of the titan melt the snow. Icicles would look so amazing too! Maybe you could use the rest of you Death Korp of Krieg minis to decorate the base with too. That would really add to showing off the massive scale of the model. Could be an opportunity to really tell a story of how this beast of a machine impacts the lives of the soldiers fighting below it too. Awesome work with this project as ways. Can’t wait to see where it goes next.
I love seeing this thing all together and nearly completed! AS for t he missile launcher, I say paint all of them but dry fit a handful and remove them after your first game or something along those lines.
The main colour scheme is looking great - once the wee accents are on, the whole thing is gonna look fantastic. Kinda hilarious how many new patreons signed up to get their names on banner.
My suggestion is to have the battery looking things on the plasma cannon glowing a little would look amazing! That being said it looks amazing and I'm excited to see more of this model!
Looks amazing! Using an inkjet printer onto blank transfer paper may be the most efficient way to do tiny neat script! (Looking at the stuff that the mini historical gaming community has been able to come up with for even 15mm tanks was a huge boost for me!)
I’d add snow to the top of the model, as way it could be fighting on any world you like to imagine but it’s just that massive, like a mountain, that it gathers snow and ice on its highest parts
Hi Guy. Just wanted to let you know that I've started painting some Stormcrest Eternal Sequitors after watching and LOVING your work. Well done! Keep it up! Looking forward to the next video xxxx
Yay for snow! That could also show a heat map of the titan's carapace, circles around the field emitters, free behind the launchers, some fun could be had with that.
Alright, this is really cool. But on the missiles: Making a few of them look fired with some cotton or some 3d printed smoke trails would be really cool.🤩
I love how it’s turning out! And I think snow on both would look awesome with only a few of the missiles fired. Thank you for a great video and happy holidays!
If you are going to add snow to the model itself, don't forget that some places should be pretty hot so no snow should stick there. I.e. The plasma gun, some cables, the vents etc. I'm unsure how it would look, but considering it's a Titan as big as a house it should be similar to a house in that regard. Cheers, have a wonderful holiday!
@MidwinterMinis for spraying advice including primers your best port of call is graffiti vloggers, i personally find an artist named doke does some good introductory stuff. spraypainters have the bet info on spraying in the cold as often especially if not legal its done at night due to less people. therefore in the cold. as a novice spray artist myself id say the overall bet way to get paint ready is, 1. warm up your tins, just body temp, stick it under your armpit until warm enough or if at home use a bowl of warm water. then shake up and down for 30 seconds you need to hear the rattle from the agitator generally 15 seconds once you hear the agitator is good. then your ready to spray, but when very cold spray slightly closer if you can, cold air will cool the paint down again fast.
Wow! That looks magnificent. I reckon some hot glowing effect on the engine exhaust vents would look great. But definitely some OSL on the lights and the Plasma cannon too will look awesome.
It's so great to see this project coming along! For your snow suggestion, maybe you could make icicles hang from the bottom edges of the Titan's armor? That might really sell the effect of a winter theme and make it look way more ancient!
No clue if it'd be too much a pain to pull off, but having some of the missiles mid launch with a smoke effect connecting them back to the launcher would look incredible on here (and a good coating of snow is a MUST, would fit the theme beautifully and really make the model look as huge and imposing as it is)
Guy - an awesome project comes close to completion, this has been epic :) have the greatest of festive breaks, what ever that means to you and what you need, look forward to a smashing 2023 :)
I love the idea of some snow on the bases and some frost on the armour plates, save for around the plasma Canon, them things get a bit hot Have a good Christmas Guy!
Amazing model! it's so vibrant, I love it! also.. for the missiles, a couple missing from the top-end may be better, just a few to look like they've been fired in sequence~
When working on items like armor panels I suggest using basic pencil to show the direction. It’s how I marked the direction for my wooden coffins of my jiangshi orks
For the Missiles, if you can get your hands on a 3D printer or someone with the skills for it, model it so that some of the Missiles are currently being launched.
Emperor's beard, she's glorious! Additions: I personally would love to see some heat bloom effects on exhausts etc, believe it would look very nice with the colour scheme aswell. Gotta get those Lens Glows too for sure!
