Wow!! Amazing what a fresh coat (well, 8 coats I guess) of paint can do. It's looking awesome.

It is amazing that you are allow to do all this heavy work on the campus. Your barrier coat job is probably overkill, these old boat are not prone to osmosis, but it is all done now. It is too late now, but it would have been a good idea to protect the exposed epoxy on the deck from UV damage until finishing paint is apply. I am curious to see if the biocide free paint will do the job. I use VC-17 on my sailboat ( a low copper content vs ablative paint ) and it is OK for the 'cold' water of Saint-Laurence river. Keep posting.

Looks amazing! Just wondering if the paint you used was an epoxy based paint, also redoing my bottom, but the previous owner says it has no barrier coat under the ablative… Ive never seen this so curious if you guy are using a barrier coat. Good you guys waited on painting the bottom ablative, you are better to wait and do it just before you put your boat back in the water, this will help it maintain a longer life for the bottom paint with less growth!

We used an epoxy primer and will be using a non-ablative and biocide-free alternative for bottom paint when the weather gets warmer. The product we are looking at is called VC Performance epoxy from Interlux. It is essentially a hard slick surface that sea life will have trouble clinging to. We will likely have more scrubbing to do but we are going to give it a shot!
