I'm so glad that you're obsessed with birds. With your tutorials I've learned how to draw and paint birds and to my surprise have found that I'm not too bad at it. Love the cactuses in pots. Thank you!!
😊my 363 th. Sitting outdoors having a glass of wine of wine with my wife i surched the sky for swallows. Usually they stay for three months in the Netherlands. The summermonths may June and Juli. Yesterday they still where doing there acrobatic flying but now they sadly left our country to fly 7000 km. To sout Africa. It marks already the end of summer although we get some tropical week next week. 😊and then the notification of a new video came up at nine o clock in the evening. Seeing your proces of painting tropical cacti. I reccon you had a good time creating with all those materials. Let's have a few more summery days ( but please not the +30 degrees Celsius days) 😊wim
I enjoyed watching your tutorial Diane. It was interesting to observe how you used Inga's book to spark your own original ideas. Your cacti are fun... Thank you so much for mentioning my little book channel and for your encouragement and advice. I really appreciate it... ♥ Can you believe I have exactly the same Horticultural Reference book as you? Maybe it was a mandatory purchase back in the day? My goodness, that's an oldie! It pre dates the internet... brought back memories of trudging in the rain to the local library to seek out information. Now all we need to do is tap on a keyboard, 24/7, in the comfort of our own home...🤣
Thank you Diane, once again, for a happy relaxing video. The painting is lovely! I am definitely inspired to paint some cacti today....experimenting with all those lovely greens...might even add a bit of gold 😊
Love your cacti! I live in Northern New Mexico, on the high desert. I am over 6,000’, and surrounded by cactus. We actually consider Prickly Pear cactus to be a weed. We love our barrel and Cholla cactus! Just FYI, the prickly pear cactus turns a lovely shade of purple when it gets snowed on!
Oh yes! We regularly eat Nopalitos (cactus). It tastes kind of like a tart green bean. Plus the fruit is very good. But the cactus we have is small and difficult to clean, and the fruit is typically stolen by wildlife before we can get to it! So we buy our nopalitos at the grocery store. You use a vegetable peeler to clean the spines (thorns) off, chop it up and sauté it with onions and garlic, or add it to burritos or stews.
I love all of your bird drawings and paintings and can never get enough. This tutorial on potted cacti is fantastic! I always appreciate when artists show you the process from how to sketch to mixing the paint. As always, your color selection is brilliant. Thank you for another lovely video.
Hey, Diane, Arizona Jane here (only saying that based on today's painting-haha). A few little things: the cacti "leaves" are called pads which I guess it's because they are filled with H2O which I here is good needed hydration when in the desert without a paddle--oop-I mean without your water. The first one on the left does throw out gorgeous flowers first in fuchsia. Then when those are done they fall off and the fruit, a purple ovoid shape called prickly pears. In fact the whole plant is called Prickly Pear. The next left plant could be called Organ Pipe or many other names in that shape. The "needles" are called something, but I don't know how to spell it. I think the last 2 are both types of barrel cacti like you said. Cacti come in a large variety and I find them nice and easy to paint, but I'd prefer NOT to be in AZ, but for now I'm stuck. To me though oddly rose bushes grow beautifully here and we chose a Non GMO'ed plant and the peach and yellow roses almost make us dizzy while we smell them so deeply. I love your new birds. They look wonderful and fun. I love drawing birds and then painting them and have loved them as my subject. Sometimes, especially at the end, I say Bye, Diane, Thank you, and it feels like you can hear me cuz we gals of a certain age must stick together! And I think it's so sweet that you are reaching out to help others new to RU-vid. XOXOJANE
I just love your videos. It is like you are a friend. You did a lot in 24 hours. It looks great! I like that you drew your dog and i love the florals especially. Thanks for your videos. I look forward to the next one!
Completely off topic but I was watching a video of yours where you were saying AI was ruining creativity and you were looking through old books for inspo. I was watching 'Celtic Heart' this morning- one of those long play You Tube videos just showing nature. Thought you may enjoy :) On topic- your colours are alway so harmonious, love your channel
Bonjour Diane a part tes beaux livres tes jolis dessins , je veux savoir si tu as froid ?

I have a set of your limited edition watercolor brushes with craftamo that have never been opened. Looking to sell to raise some money for my 5 year old to get some beginner friendly arts and crafts stuff 😅. If anyone is interested at all, they’re a stunning collection I must say but a bit too good for my child right now so please no offence 🙏
I lived in Arizona for a couple years. Not my favorite place, except I had my daughter there. It used to be beautiful during monsoon season otherwise no think you ! 😅
