Hi Andrew, great to see a group of artists painting a similar scene, everyone has a different eye which creates different moods in the paintings. I struggle to paint on a large canvas in the studio with plenty of time so it’s impressive to see a finished plein air painting so large. Still love those fly overs of the NZ scenery it’s breathtaking. And to anyone who aspires to be a better painter I can absolutely say 100% to grab a copy of Andrew’s Winter Landscape tutorial, you just can’t put a price on someone’s life long painting experience all rapped up in 7.5 hours of footage. The DVD has been my greatest and most treasured art purchase. Thanks again and look forward to the next episode.👍

Hi Andrew, here's Ariel, your former-scientist-turned-artist-from-Chile-friend again. I always learn so much from your videos. They are always such a pleasure to watch. I have very recently done a few alla prima paintings, and my first plein air, thanks to my friends at the ChilePinta art collective. I also attend a life drawing workshop every Saturday evening, and last week we changed the usual short poses routine and did one long pose instead, and I painted from the live model. I've ended up loving alla prima and plein air, something I didn't think possible previously. I have to say that much of what I've learnt over the past year has come from your RU-vid channel, especially the Virgil Elliott interview last year. So thank you for everything you've posted!

Hey, Andrew! You really nailed the first mountain painting; the values and colors are beautiful and creates that pleasing realistic feel to it. Not many people are capable of "connecting" to the atmospheric feel of the scenery, not to mention having the technical and artistic skills to put it on a canvas in such a short timespan. I always learn something new from you and your painting buddies. I remember I mentioned Richard Robinson to you in regards to making a podcast, and it would be cool if you made that happen. It looks as if Samuel Earp is struggling a little bit on the second mountain painting. Maybe he got a little bit discouraged after making a not-so-pleasing compositional choice? (just an observation). I have seen many of his paintings, and some of them are really good. Did he use the same approach as you? (working back to front/light to dark) Its interesting to see the different approaches. Mr Crump started early with putting in the darkest patches in his composition, and used that as a guideline for the values further back, while you did the opposite. Its important to seek what feels natural for you. Anyway, keep up the great work, Mr Tischler! Eleo Jay from Norway

@Vinicius Paolini I used to be really into weightlifting. I ate so much, constantly and tried to pack on muscle. I then got to a point where my kidneys started to hurt and strain from the excess meat, dairy and protein. I cut all of that out of my diet and went on a different direction realising that, for me, this life is about art and painting and sharing that with others, and not damaging my body continuously. So to address all of the concerns here in the comment section from folks who are worried about me: I am totally okay, I am not sick. I have just lost weight and now I feel so much better. Yes, I am continuing to get thinner, but I will stabilise shortly and may plateau in a few months, then I will continue with light exercise and running.

I find that when in my studio I get tighter and tighter, smaller and smaller brushes and THIS proves to me I need to get out and get the bigger brushes out, time constraints/observation/shifting light working bolder and faster with stretch and open those tight spots within me. What I find perhaps most inspiring is seeing a painter of Andrew's caliber acknowledging areas where he can improve. In my opinion the essence of plein air painting is exploring the dynamics of light and the use of broken color. At a certain point there's a trade-off between form and color, and I think you can see that with Andrew, who is a master of form, value, and detail. Instead of placing a time limit on his painting, he should consider, as an exercise, resisting from any blending of color on the canvas -- just putting down individual brush strokes. Someone with his talent could be a master of color as he is of form, even though there is a trade off with an individual painting.

Hi Andrew. This is a video I keep coming back to. A few years ago I bought some of Richard's videos, then I discovered yours and your youtube channel. I also found Sam's RU-vid offerings and I just love what he does. So to see my favourites working together, alongside the master, John Crump is a real buzz. Love your work. Keep it up. Must come down and visit the gallery before too long
