Hi Jonni, Thank you for this video. It is the best one I have found for painting dogs eyes. My dog has been without eyes for a while now. I have everything I need but I am stuck. I am painting my dog In honor of Ginger,my dog of many years ago. Ginger had one brown and one blue eye. Could you please suggest the colors I could use for blue eyes as you did with brown eyes please. Thank You in advance. Alicia
Alicia Z That's a tough question. I think a mixture of cobalt blue, cerulean blue, and white would do the trick. A lot blue eyes look almost white in photos, but are probably darker in real life. I did a search for Australian Shepherd Eyes on Google image search, and found some really good resource images to use. That always helps when you're trying to find the right color.
Hi Jonni. This is another great video. I have seen a couple of your videos where you paint the eyes of your sculpture. Am I correct in noticing you seem to paint your "little white spot" where the light is actually seen on the eye? If I noticed correctly, it seems you paint just where the light is reflecting, like it is showing you the spot for the paint. I do try to pay attention and glean information where I can. Thank you so much for all the knowledge and skill you give us. Also, thank you for all the lovely (and inexpensive) patterns you provide. I'm looking forward to more!
Hi Lila - yes, I do sometimes hold up the eye to the light to see how it's reflected on the curved surface. It doesn't always work, but it's a great way to see how the light interacts with the eye.
Hi I would like to buy your book on masks. Also you mention you made a dog for your Dad and I am interested in making a small standing dog too. Is there any instructions on how to make the pattern for a larger dog. Julie Australia 🇦🇺
I do have a video that shows how to make a pattern for any size animal you want: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ywViyxgbPUg.html And you can find my mask book here: amzn.to/2obUDmq 😊
I hate to sound like an ignoramus, but when you say "transparent color," what exactly are you referring to? Is it a tempera or oil? Or something else entirely?
majyk2 I use acrylic paint, either thinned with water to make it transparent, or mixed with glazing liquid or gel medium. The gel medium works well for eyes, because the paint doesn't get runny like it does when you add water.
Hi Sylvia. I don't know which owl you're looking for, but you can find part 2 of the Snowy Owl series here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bRHxDrpwEUU.html And the owl mask #2 is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kp1Ham39l1Q.html I hope that helps. :)
