I don’t know why but whenever this guy talks everything just makes sense, it’s not like he’s talking down to the viewer like some other art channels I watch do He’s remarkable
Eric, by far this video is the biggest revelation I have encountered while watching hundreds of watercolor demos online. The way you completely demystified the quick figure sketch is perfect. 7 1/2 heads!! And GPS!! I've been drawing off and on for 40 years but never got serious about it until now. And learning watercolors has made me indulge in your channel and the books of Joseph Zbukvic. I'm a big believer in having evidence of humanity in every painting to make it worthwhile. Even if it's just a coffee cup. But adding figures like these is such a joy now that I better understand the simplicity of your method. It is now my method too. Truly, this is a huge step forward for me. Thank you so very much. One more note.... Would you consider doing another video on this kind of figure sketching but for figures in seated positions, crouching, bending over, running, or from overhead? It would be so helpful to see how you tackle such subjects. Again, thank you.
Karel here I just found you Eric . So helpful. I've been painting a while but you made it so understandable. Now I understand neutral tint also. I have to learn to darken those shadows more for the pop an use as little strokes as possible. Thanks
Eric, you are a lifesaver. I only discovered you yesterday...binge-watching your channel now!!! You are taking the fear-element out of so many aspects.....thank you, thank you.
Eric, I follow your videos because of the clear and plain way that you explain how to develop a watercolor. Landscapes, buildings, figures and all the other subjects that you show us are so well presented and easy to understand. Thank You again and again!
I've seen many figure artist's on youtube but you are the BEST ! Your easy to follow and you explain everything so well . "perfect"! I learned so much with just one of your videos. THANK YOU!!
This video lesson is very helpful. Thank you! I always struggle with figures, but after watching your video several more times I’ll try again. Thank you so much.
I've been so grateful for your high quality art lessons even before creating my new born channel. Now I can log in and comment. You are such a gifted artist and I like your family values.
Best tutorial for figures I have watched so far! Thank you thank you! Been struggling with sketching and drawing and what to keep in mind as you do them. This really helped a lot! I think with more practice I can get used to this process! Again, thank you for sharing this! 😊
This was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you so much!!! New to watercolor (1 yr in) and I get so discouraged with my perfectionism 😅 this is a great way for me to practice letting go!
Fantastic video. I want to go run and try it! I love how you broke it all down and emphasized the shape not the details and then how the shadows gave it form. The GPS is now in my head. Thank you!
Great have been trying figures for ages in my paintings but they always looked wooden, will now practice your approach, Thankyou for another great lesson.
Hi Eric, yes, nice comparison with charlie's head. I had to laugh spontaneously. The head of charlie is really easy to paint, yes. But such big frontal people don't occur so often in pictures like landscapes or city shots. I find it much more difficult to paint them when the people are further away, especially the G of GPS. Because even the small people are in motion or have an attitude that should be recognizable, I think.
