In this video I show you how I paint this classic Warhammer Citadel Ork Gretchin from the 90's, using modern Citadel paints. I use a tweaked version of the ork skin recipe from ‪@InfernalBrush‬ , check out his page if you want to see how a real 'eavy metal painter tackles this recipe!

5th layer of basecoat😮 me using a 50/50 mix of bronze and gold from valleyo , applied with a window painting brush followed by dunking in to a dip in a can of floor wood darkner and finished with a light silver dry brush , again with window brush being used.

Long time ago I gave up painting the white dot in the eyes with a paintbrush. I just take a sharp toothpick, needle or whatever pointy thing I think is the right size, dip it in a shallow bit of paint, do 1,2,3 test dots with it and then hop! Works 4 me!

@@khyronkravshera7774 good question, it does depend a bit on the paint to be honest to give a ratio, 1:1 is great for a new paint but maybe 2:1 if its a bit older and has started to get a bit thicker but then some paints are naturally thinner than others. I guess an easier way would be to say, all my base coats these days stay wet on the model for at least 20-30 seconds. So pretty thin. Then Ill just do a few layers like this so everything is nice and flat. Longer in the short term, quicker/cleaner/flatter/easier to paint on top of, in the long run.

@@GoblinGreen2021 Wet for 20-30 seconds? What part of the world are you in? I'm in the Pacific NW and even un-thinned my paint stays wet for several minutes. Then again our humidity level is usually over 75% with a moderate temperature.

It's great how you explain why you use certain colours and the theory behind how the paint works. Thank you for genuinely bringing something with real substance to the youtube sphere. Its hard to find that these days when sifting through low impact, anecdotal content thrown out because a sponsor has said so.

This style of painting has replaced my reliance on my air brush. I still use the airbrush some, but it's limited to maybe 5 minutes of minor fuzzing/blending out some of my highlights per space marine. Sometimes I don't use it at all. My minis are turning out so much better! I can't thank you enough for these tutorials! I think the comments crowd is unanimous; we're all crossing our fingers for another vid : ) Even just 1 vid per year would be monumental. Thanks again!
