Thank you, I’m trying to balance making these instructional and somewhat entertaining without stretching out the content. Our 12 full scale Titan video will still just be 1 video. No stretching 1 model into 20 videos here :)
every time i see u in my dreams, i make sure to give u as many hugs as i can. i'm happy u at least got to accomplish what u always wanted... to paint for a living. u can finally rest without worry now. we'll meet again one day.
Yup. I would highlight the armor from black up to a blueish black like IDF Blue from Vallejo Game Air. That would work well with the Panzer Grey Streaking Grime.
While I really love this video and the tutorial that you've made here, I personally don't care for painting with airbrush (I have had one too many issues with the airbrush, from compressor failing all the time to needles getting bent, Me and airbrush not the bestest of friends). Seeing you large force of retributors makes me want to get the minis that I have laying about and get a painting. My issue comes from the painters block where I'm not 100percent sure on what the final scheme for the marines that I want to paint will be. Was thinking of using Charcoal grey (dark grey black) color on all the tanks in my army so that in a way they could be used in multiple of my armies... Marines - Charcoal on weapons and shoulders Heresy - Iron Hands Sisters - Teal armor with charcoal grey robes... kinda like the retributors color scheme as well. Thanks again for the awesome videos that you put out.
I used to paint Gundam all the time back in the early 90s. I always painted the panels first then clipped, never had issues after because you just exacto blade toward the piece at a slight angle, no touch up dab need and clean lines when assembled. Maybe this model plastic is different? Literally every channel clips first then paints. At least the ones I’ve seen.
are you saying you painted the models with all the parts still on the sprue? then cut them out and assembled them afterwards? sounds like way more work and worse result, since you can't reach all of the mold lines when cleaning the model, harder to reach with a brush, and generally just harder to handle the model while painting. and you still have to paint all of the parts that were connected to the sprue once you cut them out. also, if you use plastic glue you'd need to scrape off paint before gluing. i dunno, maybe i misunderstood you, but it sounds like a nightmare to paint like that :D
Yea we painted first then sealed and decal all on the frame; then just angled the exacto knife and it was a clean seam. Maybe the connections back then were thinner? There was no sanding or anything. Everything met evenly as long as you angled the knife. This was pre interwebz so it was harder to know others techniques; but that’s how we all did it for Gundam back in the day.
I’ve done some Gundam it’s a little different than Warhammer. Warhammer models have smaller details and less parts to assemble so there are always mold lines that need to be cleaned. On the gundam kits they’re usually engineered to where you don’t really see the lines (if there are any) after assembly.
Warhammer minis also have much chunkier sprue gates in much more prominent places, and the minis themselves are less suited design-wise to shapes that help hiding mould lines. Bandai is, frankly, better at this than GW is. Having built both gunpla and Warhammer minis, they’re not really comparable. (Not hating on GW mini design here, mind; they just obviously use much less sophisticated mould designs. Bandai is using 3-piece moulds with moving parts to do things like hollow tube shapes that run parallel to the sprue, while GW is sticking consistently with two-piece clamshell moulds.)
Is the White Balance on your Camera fixed? It seems as if auto white balance is changing the colours. Sorry for being picky but I thought it might help. Awesome paint job!
Nice First off my wife and i have a running joke that we swear there is always a asian that does it better. Then you had everything i love airbrushing shooting painting. Awesome job
It’s just streaking grime. The paint is enamel based. Ammo MiG and AK Interactive make a few different shades but I order Ammo MiG since the color is consistent. I have 4 bottles of AK’s stuff that are supposedly the same color but definitely aren’t.
