I'd love love love to see this done again. This is one of my favorite kinds of art, revitalizing thrift store art. I love the deer god practice painting just a bit more than colossus. He looks like he just emerged from a algae filled lake. So cool.
It’s a hard choice I love the shadow of the colossus idea and execution so much! but the ethereal vibe from the first piece looks so cool as well. Where the second showed your skill level of size the first showed off your style and I applaud both great job!
Next time you might wanna grab a sealer of some sort, to make it blend more so it feels like they weren't added later :) the originals were quite shiny in comparison to the creatures. Loved them both though! I think I'd have a blast doing this
Warm up painting: Did the forest spirit from Princess Mononoke and his Nightwalker form fuse into one form? Big piece: SIMBA! The paintings are great! both remind me of something I did not too long ago.
Such a cool idea! I would suggest using softer colours so that the creatures appear to be off in the distance, in the haze... I'm not much of an artist so I don't know how to explain it but they do look added on, lacking that sense of scale. I love monster & creature design, definitely subscribing! :D
Yeah I touch on that a bit in the video. I for sure want to try this again and if something is in the distance, I will try using those softer colors. Thanks for the sub and welcome to the community!
As a someone who has yet to play Shadow of the Colossus. I must say that it looks amazing. But as as a far at heart I have to say that the forest spirit is my favorite!
pict 2 scream got dragon imho. awesome concept! next vid, dragons, nvm thank you. might have been fun to have one of the legs about to crush the homes, add more dynamism and perhaps a bit of horror. or go funny, and the creature is about to sit on the houses, etc. anyway, subbed and going thru history. recommending to friends that paint via text. (oh look im a f'n influencer, nah, its actually you)
Ooo yeah those are some fun ideas! I will need to hunt down a thrift painting with some buildings in them! haha Thank you so much for the sub and welcome to the community! I really appreciate you sharing my work as well!
When you see this video an jazzas small artist competition and you just dead ass forgot that katelyn dosen't even have 50k suscribers. The content just has such professional presentation, it's honestly criminal that she has such a small following compared to the quality.
I love the idea- id love to do this too some day- loved your video. Been a long time subscriber - love your content! They turned out great- I want one on my wall :D
I've wanted to have go at doing this for a long time, there's always pictures you see and think wow that needs a dragon/monster adding in... I might be inspired, by this video, to have a go. Awesome. Think I like the Big second picture the most it's just a feast for the eye's. :D
Hey Katelyn i wanted to ask, if you would paint, sell and send some of the thrift store art, i would love to hang a such big Picture with your art in my appartment! :) Its such a great idea and work! Love it!
I would totally be down to make another and sell one :) Shoot me a message on Twitter or Instagram if you are interested. Shipping might be a bit expensive depending on the size but I would be down to try it!
I really loved both, I like this kind of stuff(drawing over painting). Maybe you should've tried matching the color saturation with the background a bit more? Idk
Yeah I really like how the forest spirit really pops against the painting but I wish I matched the colors and saturation a but more on the other one. It will just take practice for sure!
The first one reminds me of a dream I had where I found cute water colours that had like a beautiful forest setting and then in the middle of it was like a Nomu type creature and some had flower crowns on. Wish I could recreate it but I'm no good at art
I love the idea behind these. I do feel that the final result didn't feel like it fit with the original... I'd have liked an attempt at a more watercoloury technique on the first one, as opposed to the thick daubs of paint... also would have liked to see the legs vanish into mist behind the foreground. The last one was better, but still didn't feel like a part of the original painting. It may have come off better as a shadow in the mists, with maybe glowy eyes? Just my 2c. Again great concept and I love your creatures.
I feel like the Forrest creature could have a time where it sleeps and the townsfolk bring the vines and drape them over him every year during this sleep 🥺
Maddy Groffenberg yes for sure on the list to save up for. I have a nice rode mix for my camera and a good compression mic for my desk but I know I need a lav mic for when I’m recording I’m my larger echoey dining room
hmm i think i prefer the practice one, the creature fits in better :) i dont know why people get mad at artists when they do this, its not like its painting over a Picasso and it makes for a nice challenge to see if you can paint something that doesnt look really out of place on the original :)
Right! I agree. These pieces were potentially going to rot or be thrown away after being at a thrift store too long. I think this is a great way to give old pieces a fresh new life.
Welcome! Thanks for stopping by from Jazza's channel! Really appreciate it! And feel free to take the idea haha it isn't an original idea of mine and it is just so fun to do!
@@KatelynMcCaigue I wonder if I accidentally deleted it....or you only get it if you made the cut or the honorable mentions maybe? You are super very welcome!
@@KatelynMcCaigue awesome. I want to try a similar thing for myself but I need to practice some more acrylic. I use watercolor primarily, which totally wouldn't work lol
