when I painted my 12w I taped off the logo the same way and had the same reaction when I took the tape off, lol. I should have done it square also! I ended up painting over it in the end, it bothered me! check out mine in some of my videos for ideas if you'd like.

nope. it wont wash off. It my chip some if you bang into something, but we duck hunt with it and have no issues. Use a self etching primer first if your doing an unpainted boat
James Jennings it's not. We didn't prime at all. The boat was already Painted so we just cleaned it real good. If your boat is unpainted or in rough shape you should use self etching primer as a base coat so it will stick to the aluminum.
