How to fill in the rubber push buttons with paint on a remote control keypad, shown here on a Nokta Legend metal detector. This process is sometimes called drop filling and can really help you see the contrast from the black background. This is a super easy process shown here in detail including cleaning, prep, and touchup with a few lessons learned along the way.

I bought my Legend pro pack a couple of years ago. I did the same thing to the touchpad. Went to Walmart and bought a similar fine tip white paint pen and it worked great. Every once in a while, I’ll repaint them when they start to fade a little. I don’t know why they didn’t come painted already.

Agreed, it seems so obvious once it's done they should have done it originally, but glad you enjoyed the video and hope you're still into the hobby!

@@JoyofTreasureHunting Oh Yeah. Still going strong. Been at it for 15 years. I’ve been water hunting my local bay beaches, finding some really nice silver and gold rings and chains. When the weather’s right, I’m dirt fishin’ some old parks and vacant lots. Not giving up this great hobby. _/ 👍🏻

I love it, and think it should be done by Nokta on all of them. What other mods should we do?

Nice job dude! I'm going to try this. That fine tip marker seems like the right choice. Although I don't see any drips, I'll probably position my head unit so that the buttons are facing up... thus reducing the chance of drips.

Thanks, I always use a bottle of "white out", but I will try your paint pen idea also.

BTW, that link brings me to a fine tip marker. The marker you are using is an ultra fine tip marker.... and that is what is needed to do this job.

Nail polish with non acetone nail polish remover is more permanent. Those pens don’t last long. I did two Legends, still great after two years.

Why not use acetone?

It's actually an Amazon piece for the simplex I got accidentally, but with a slit up the back it works on the legend
