92? My gawd, you inspire me. I am an artist who chose to have a family, raising kids and making art professionally limits you but no regrets. Now I am almost 60 and wondering if its just to late to finally go for it and just do what I have been called to do my whole life. I think you may have answered that question for me. Thank you Jean.
I'm 70, and starting over after a house fire destroyed my entire portfolio of 65 years' artwork last summer. Please take a leap of faith in yourself... Time is Art🎨💫
One of the aspects of your abstract paintings which is so appealing and soothing to me is how you have large areas for the eyes to rest. This is the mark of a successful abstract in my opinion. Plenty of action with places for the eyes to take a break.
Wow! Your art is fabulous…so bold and powerful! And YOU…such an inspiration. I’m 83 and feel energized seeing this video and hearing your story. You motivate me to keep at it. Wishing you many more years of painting enjoyment!
What an inspiration! I hope to be one of those grey-haired old ladies of Gloria Steinem's quote who take over the world. But first let's inspire it with our art, like Jean! This is so expressive and full of life!
I know what you mean, Jean...sometimes I start out with a definite idea of what the painting will be, but the painting tells me otherwise...you have to be a creative person to understand that process. I Love your beautiful work!! ❤
wow, I love her "Precious (film)" painting, which talks to my soul. she's amazing! Also only 5 minutes she takes to get her focus back from a distraction! when I take 1 day sometimes,....
Gorgeous paintings and so inspriring!!!! Thank you Jean Banas for your lovely work and sharing your studio with us :) As an abstract expressioinist WOMAN painter, it is ridiculous to think that ART is only a man's domain (still). Classic infuriating sexism. Thank you for being you JEAN and doing your dymanic paintings. You deserve all the attention! Xo
I am no where near your age Jean, but oftentimes get despondent when I see submissions requesting only people up to 35! At that age my art was nowhere as good as it is now. I feel one matures artistically with the years - like an old cheese. I will try to remember you when I feel bad about my age. You art is fantastic. So strong and vibrant. May I say happy? Even the dark ones. Go well. M
I'm deeply impressed by your art and your energy, Jean! Your paintings in this video make me want to see more of your work immediately. Thanks and all my best wishes to you! ❤
I like her work. I use acrylic so easy to paint abstract but oil is hard because it does not dry fast. I understand her and I too tackle with my paintings. Glad she has a friend husband.
Good for her. I'm not trying to be mean or disrespectful, but why are her paintings exceptional? It's definitely not my cup of tea, but I've always been curious as to what people see in this type of abstract art that makes them think these are beautiful paintings.
You are right: all art is exceptional. All art is creation. Her art, just like anyone else's is "exceptional" because it captures the heartbeat of creative energy. Abstract painting is less about form and more about energy and movement.
God bless her that she still has the vigor and mobility and creativity to create her art. ! I just am not a fan of contemporary or abstract art...that's just my take. Maybe I have seen too much of it over the years. ...Just being honest.
I absolutely disagree, but it makes sense to me that people think this way. It’s pretty obvious really. I encourage anyone who thinks like this, to try and do it themselves. I think you’ll find, that it takes much longer than you’d think, and that your first results will come off as just tacky and uninteresting. You can most often see in a painting, whether or not the creator actually gave a shit.
Abstract is okay. Messing around just looks like she did destroy the painting. Not my thing to enjoy, especially describing what the heck is it supposed to be. Just saying
WOW, Jean, WOW. I really understand that we artists do keep evolving with our work with each passing day. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and incredible artistic outputs. Raymond is also amazing with making your frames!!! 😊
My God, how absolutely absurd! She needs a visit to the Rijks to see what the real deal is. I am an artist almost her age, but I believe that art should be a positive gift to others. It , definitely should not be about the artist and their pity party. That is the false ego speaking. Art is the spiritual emotion that comes from realms unknown. It is the poetry from “the Cloud of Unknowing,” Abstraction is nothing but a chaotic grievance that happens to be in paint. Watch that type paint.. they go from table to canvas just doing anything.. inanity
