Pipe smoking is all about relaxation. Many like to sip on a alcoholic beverage of some kind while smoking their favourite blend. Some like to pair a suitable beverage to a particular leaf type or genre. I was asked for my opinion to what beverage do I pair up with different pipe tobacco blend types. So, in today’s video I will share my thoughts on this interesting topic & show you my preferences. Bear in mind that taste is very subjective & personal. We all have our likes & dislike, so the following is very much my own preference.
My 4 basic rules for 4 genres of pipe tobacco.
Virginia & VaPer blends pair well with smoky/ peated whisky (sweet tobacco paired with smoky /peaty beverages)
English blends pair up well with fruity whisky / Bourbon / port wine / cherry liqueur (smoky tobacco paired with fruity & sweet beverages)
Burley driven blends pair up well with red dry wines like Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot ( earthy & chocolatey pairs with wine tannins & fruity)
Aromatic blends pair up well with spicy Rum & Tequila or a natural based like Vodka (sweet, fruity, nourish tobacco pairs with sweet & spicy and naturally based beverages)
Coffee pairs up well to all tobacco genres except aromatics.
Yorkshire tea with milk / cream pairs up well with aromatics as well.
