The Japanese should not have won with 2 huge mistakes for them in the long program. Shame on them and shame on the Japanese for holding them up with their score in Japan.

That fall should have knocked them out of first place. But it was held in Japan and the judges just went with them because it was their home country. Anyone else would have lost at least a couple of points.

100% And at World Team Trophy later the Americans were scored far higher even for same number of errors, but here they each have 1 fall in each program and they are marked far behind, since Japan as you said.

I agree that a fall should definitely not earn a higher score but (and I hate to say this) American pairs skating just doesn't rise to the same level of excitement, innovation and difficulty as some other countries. It's such a shame. I keep hoping that a team will step up each year but it doesn't happen.

I thought the same I didn’t think they would make it to 1st place because of the fall but regardless it was a beautiful show they definitely desereved to be within the top 3

I think because the fall was still graceful and it didn't hinder their performance, plus they did have a very complex performance ❤although I agree that if it were another country they would've lost points

I personally would've given positive GOE for the very first two 3Ts because they both landed UNBALANCED BUT SYNCHRO the second 3T, that's some unique thing😂

Lol. Just because the Russians score 150+ in the free doesn't mean they deserve it. 10 points is a bonus for being russian. Nothing in their programs are even comparatively difficult compared to the rest of the world.

Its the year after the Olympics...often an 'off' year for lots of sports....next Olympics 3 years away.

It's in recovery after the pandemic. Pairs couldn't train or even do tryouts for a long time. To have that many teams in a Worlds after that.. it looks very positive indeed. This is one of the most interesting seasons for Pairs in a long time. And if so easy, why don't you do it?

@@quintupleaxel La pandemia termino el 2021....estamos 2023 y el nivel del patinaje artístico principalmente damas y parejas (danza ya está muerto) es muy mediocre. 2 años sin los Rusos y no han mejorado nada, parece que estoy viendo patinaje del año 2005. Nota: La única categoría que si tiene nivel el varones, aunque está en crisis por el retiro de Shoma Uno.

Still don't understand how you fall, a unison jump is not so and get such good marks and this has nothing to do with any particular country either

They were miles ahead after the short--and their program was full of difficulty--I felt the scoring was fair

I like the Japanes pair but they didn't skate for a Gold here, even the audience knew. This gold metal was for the time they did for the year or sympathy.

They did finish 2nd in the LP but had enough of a lead form the SP to win overall. Their gold medal was fair.

@James Yu minor error? Frazier fell on the jump combo in the SP and there were major errors on both side by side jump passes in the FS.

Judges don't award gold medals because of sympathy. I really don't get why some fans have to invent these stories. It's odd.

It was average, your 100% Correct but this is the politics of skating that scares people away from our sport. It needs to stop. I agree that the US pair deserves the gold. Many going to look back on this and hate watching this sport.

I hope we will see the Russian skaters at the next World Championship and Olympics. Without them, it wouldn't be a true World Championship or competition. I find it catastrophic how the "West" is behaving in this matter. Russia is being branded as a pariah state. What sanctions were imposed for the countless wars of the USA and UK? Where are the WMDs of Saddam from 2003? Countries like Poland were also involved in that. Here, the rights of athletes are being trampled upon, which, in my opinion, is unacceptable and something that will not be forgotten in 20-30 years.

Russians dope so all their wins are questionable. It feels so nice Russians are not included anymore. No one misses them. Russia is already forgotten and I'm so glad and happy about it. Let Russia be a pariah state as long as the government is the same.

En mi opinión no van a permitir que los Rusos regresen....las federaciones que hoy se reparten las medallas de manera mediocre no van permitir que los Rusos regresen a las competencias de la ISU. Tampoco van a permitir que los Rusos participen en las Olimpiadas 2026....a como de lugar quieren tener la medalla de oro no solo en damas, también en Parejas y Danza. La Competencia de alto nivel en el patinaje artístico se acabó después de las Olimpiadas 2022...
