I would add a few toothpicks for use as a cable neenldle and picking up dropped stitches. Would also have nail clippers. Put these on a split ring and add mini crochet hooks to use for dropped switches.( Bit of a luxury). Nail clippers are essential to me for easily broken nails!

Thanks so much for your travel and knitting tips … we knitters can’t be without our knitting while away, including tools and notions! My go-tos are the metal light bulb stitch markers you featured. Got a large supply from Amazon in several different colours as you’re right, they do tend to disappear. I haven’t dove into buying the Barber cords as I use a 50” Chiaogoo interchangeable circular cord and magic loop when knitting sweaters so it is easy to try on as I go with no changes required. I also love the convenience of my Clover Stitch Holders in 2 different sizes (9-16” Short and 24-36” Long) for holding stitches. It has a small needle on one end and the cord length is adjustable. And lastly not a fan of playing yarn chicken so I usually buy an extra ball of yarn for swatching and to hopefully ensure I don’t run short of yarn but yarn chicken happens to all of us from time to time, I think. Going through your episodes since I recently discovered your videos. Thanks for another enjoyable session!

Thank you for sharing your travel knitting tips. These are awesome and definitely allow for us, as knitters, to enjoy the experience of knitting while travelling to the max! Nobody needs to worry about not having the tools they need to do the thing they love. Happy knitting!

Great ideas especially with the safety pins. In a pinch with stitch markers use hair bobbi pins! I do love and use colorful markers. Agree with the barber chords. So much safer too in not losing stitches. Thank you for the informative video since I will be traveling this month,

Just found your podcast! Love it! A tip for cutting yarn is to throw in your knitting bag a small tooth flossing container. It has a tiny little cutting edge. I have one in all my project bags. Heading to France in 2 weeks and planning my travel knitting. Thanks for all your tips.

Ha! I have brought my scale on a road trip before😂. I always take certain types of knitting-small and simply for standing in line at the airport, something with skinny yarn and a chart for the plane (how do people work endless garter while stuck in an airplane seat??), and possibly larger and simple for hanging with family and friends. Thanks for sharing your tools

I completely agree with your sock secret -- I don't knit fingering weight socks, either. I knit socks mostly for my husband, who wears boots all the time, so I make worsted weight socks.(I actually gave up knitting socks for me because he kept stealing them!) I like to include a reinforcement thread in the toes and heels to help guard against holes since I can't find worsted with nylon. Really enjoyed your video!

@pairswellwithknitting Год назад
Thank you very much! Do you use a nylon thread to pair with your worsted weight socks?
@maryannraley
@maryannraley Год назад
@@pairswellwithknitting In the past I've used wool reinforcement thread, but I'm considering trying a nylon beading thread instead.

Great tips. I must say I discovered the David Tea containers by mistake which was a good thing. My son gave me a great selection of herbal teas. I always try to recycle everything the best way I can before actual putting into the recyclable bin. I just bought round markers from knit picks and I've divided them into other containers for each project bag. I must say these stitch markers are not expensive and if you happen to knit them into the garment like I have. The stitch markers can be forced open. I use my light bulb markers as row counter and that creates a chain. Enjoy your adventure on the road.

This was a wonderful and helpful episode! I love little mini tape measures - I keep one in my notions bag as well as my project bags; I tend to make up little notions tins for each project bag. There was a Christmas/holiday tea that would include a free tin with the tea and since it was a favorite, I had several of the tins to use. Your Sorrel is such a beautiful color - an excellent color/pattern combination and it looks great on you!

Hi, Jennifer. I’m a beginning knitter, coming from Crochet. I’m learning on dishcloths and the Yarn Harlot scarf.😊 I appreciate the travel tips… A bit intimidated by your gorgeous sweaters! I doubt I’ll ever be that skilled. Best wishes from Morro Bay! 🧶 🐳 💦

Hope you are enjoying NS Jennifer. I live just down the road from Terrence Bay. Dont forget to check out LK yarns in the North End of Halifax...Louise is great😊. Also if you are planning on going to PEI, Kim at Fleece and Harmony is wonderful. She also has a youtube podcast. Gaspereau Fibres is a great place to stop in Annopolis valley plus lots of wonderful Wineries. Enjoy your travels...and knitting. 🥰Sharon.

I stumbled across your podcast and have enjoyed your first episodes. I learned some great tips from this video. I'm curious, how do you block on vacation? I usually use pins and mats, not super travel friendly. Also, how long have you been travel knitting? What are you on sabbatical from? Looking forward to watching more episodes! Wendy from Comox, BC
@pairswellwithknitting
@pairswellwithknitting Год назад
Thank you very much, Wendy! I use a towel instead of a blocking mat and no pins, even at home, unless it's a shawl (e.g., flat knitting that would perhaps curl). We were away for a month on our road trip with our next adventure coming-up. I'm a teacher and am taking a self-paid leave this year. What a lovely corner of Canada you live in! Vancouver Island has my heart.
