Soldiers came down from the heights during winter, except this time, the Pak Army, led by Musharraf, planned to occupy the heights in the absence of the Indian Army. Pakistani soldiers did not fight to win those heights, they merely crawled there in the winter of 1998-99. To add to their ignominy, they were kicked out of there (nearly 140 posts), and even refused to accept their dead to avoid the responsibility of being part of the war.
