Pak Mei Kung Fu| 10 principles Form | 十字拳 

As a video game geek, the video game Sifu by Sloclap lead me here. I’ve only heard about Pak Mei only a couple of times when I was studying Wing Chun and also recently Choy Lee Fut. I definitely want to study this art in the future! 😁

though i am not a pak mei practitioner, i can clearly see some of the strategies that you have demonstrated in your previous videos, very sharp and explosive kung fu. this channel is such a hidden gem of traditional kung fu. greetings from a wing chun practitioner

Nice form! In my Choy Lee Fut school we also have a form called 十字拳 and as the name implies it follows a cross pattern (like the character for ten).

One thing I’ve realized when comparing these traditional martial art styles to modern styles used for sport, is that you would use these traditional styles on unstable ground that you can trip on like a moving subway or any kind of ground with tripping hazards and modern styles for clear, undisturbed grounds like boxing rings and wrestling mats

What happened? You have your cross set and we have our cross set and all the basic movements are basically the same. You show me a technique and I could quote an identical one from one of the sets I learned. But after only a few generations how come the two branches of Pakmei are so different? Didn't you guys wander? One thought, generations of students thought that they were better so when the old man died they changed things to the way they liked it and passed on the newer versions? Or, they did not learn the whole thing so they invented some to patch up. Before I learned (CLC) Pakmei from my dad's WW2 trench buddy my dad taught me Putin Southern Shaolin that he learned from a starving old monk in the 1930's. I changed things the way I liked it and I told my dad newer is better. He rolled his eyeballs.

In my opinion this is how Bruce lee want jeet kune do meant to be which wing chun is more stay still which is more defend but this is more offense which quite fit for Bruce lee jeet kune do style. But this just opinion it can be anything.

Do you guys do any sparring? Because one of the major flaws in most styles of Kung Fu are the lack of practical applications in fighting due to lack of sparring, also I hope you have some your students compete in professional combat sports such as Boxing, Kickboxing or even MMA to prove how impressive your martial arts truly are.

It's so sad that martial arts aren't very popular in the world( I really wanted to learn something out of these: WIng Chun, Muay Thai/Boran, Pak Mei and few MA's that I can't remember, but there's only a single Kung-Fu school in my country that don't even allow their students to spar. I think it's just like a yoga, but with fighting elements to make you feel more confident in yourself

Although it's a southern Chinese system, it's very distinct if comparising with the three main southern styles (Wing Chun, Hung Gar and Choy Li Fut). Very singular style. Simple, fast, direct and mainly with very compact forms. Also I realized that there's something hidden in these moves (it seems like the "Uraden" concept in Japanese martial arts) that makes this style really good for the streets.

As cool as this looks and how much u do love this form in SIFU or SHIFU how it would be correctly pronounced I hate to say this is useless in a street fight along with wing chun , I’d say learn Muay Thai or kickboxing then incorporate this form into it . And a tad of BJJ

With all due respect, Your performance needs work- Heres what I see, looks like your over trying to impress, your speed is not fluid, the power that you are adding, is making your speed rigid, cubist, and wooden blocky looking. Your speed is good, but not in calibration with power. Also, Almost looks as if your having a controlled physical epileptic fit,, And once again, these comments are respectful constructive criticism, the upper form looks Chinese kung fu the bottom leg form looks Japanese karate.
