Great Pak Mei dedication video. I recognized Sifu Riley in some of the pictures! He has one of my favorite RU-vid channels. Beast! I didn't realize you two shared Kung fu! Thanks for sharing
Hi both Riley and me are Southern Mantis Sifus and go back quite a long way,we are also 8th generation Pak Mei brothers under the same Sifu.Im glad you liked the video
Thanks for sharing, Yasser. I've watched many Bak Mei videos over the years, always regretted that I never had a chance to study this incredible style of kung fu.
Hi Yes, the master in Kill Bill is modeled after the priest nicknamed Pak Mei who is the founder of the style. His appearance was also copied as the look and get up of some villains in the old Hong Kong Shaw Brother movies. This was because according to some legends it was the priest Pak Mei who was responsible for the burning of the Shaolin Temple and allegedly while the temple was being burnt down he was fighting the head Abbot and killed him in single combat.
Hi Yes you are correct as Pak Mei, Southern Mantis and White Crane all share the same underlying power generation body mechanics (float/sink/swallow/spit) and I consider them as branches of the same river. The tiger aspect of Pak Mei is also similar to hung kuen, Fu Jow Pai and other southern Chinese similar systems. The main disseminator Cheung Lai Chun Sifu was the one who named the style “Pak Mei”after learning from his teacher the monk Juk Fat Won and he also added material from his previous three teachers into the system which he always publicly acknowledged.
@@seekingtruthnotfindingany7301 :As far as I know it´s mainly TIGER-DRAGON-SNAKE,notice the hands: claw(tiger, dragon)and finger-strikes(snake,biu-gee like in WING CHUN (which is crane and snake)!
@@MrRourk Hi There are two distinct lineages of Pak Mei One branch stemming from Cheung Lai Chun Sifu and practiced by the ethnic Hakka and the other is the Futsan branch stemming from Lao Siu Ling Sifu. Cheung Lai Chun learnt his Pak Mei from the monk Juk Fat Won and Lao Siu Ling learnt his Pak Mei from the classmate of Juk Fat Won called Fung Fo. Both lineages share the same names of the form sets but differ greatly in terms of execution and differ greatly in the end expression. I have friends who train Fatsan Pak Mei and from what I can assess it is a very formidable system. Thank you for your suggestion I will look into this.
Very good video, but really it just focuses on one lineage of Bak Mei, very different to for example the Fut San lineage. Nonetheless a very very very good videk on such an amazing and deadly system.
Thank you, my focus on a single lineage was deliberate as I wanted this to be a homage to my pai and also a way to spread awareness for my classes. I may make a separate video on Futsan Pak Mei at a later date.
I don't know I can afford to go to your schools or here in the United States I'm 68 I would just like to learn how to use it just for self-defense how to condition your hands my fingers and all that miracula for free that be great I live in New York City thank you very much
