Isiliye Hinduism mein dhyaan aur pooja aankh band kar ke kari jaati hai. Doesn't matter who comes or goes around. You just have to connect with your God. That's the beauty of Sanatan Dharma. No compulsion regarding anything. Religion should be liberating, not constricting. Religion is MEANS not END through which one can attain salvation , thus END of a human being is to attain spirituality so that one can achieve salvation. It is very difficult to attain spirituality, only pure spirit can attain the same. As such visit to temple or masjid is MEANS NOT an END. One has to concentrate one's energy on END not on MEANS. END can be achieved by one to worship name of GOD (as instructed by spiritual Guru )at one's home also.

The idea of hand positions and other nuances when praying to Allah is not to make it complicated (as you say) but a way to control you! Once they control you then you are willing to do anything for them because of the group psyche and camaraderie. The idea that they do not care for anything but Allah and leaving the interpretation of what Allah said on Mullahs is dangerous for peace in this world and will always remain so even today when we all are trying to move toward, make progress, be more accepting of others, provide equal human rights, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, etc. People have to earn love and respect by their action and for their religion from others regardless of the times by their good deeds and not use force/fear/intimidation on others to make them accept it!
