Just to clarify - „Focus” is not about being focused. Fokus is a nickname of one of the guys from Paktofonika. And Rah is a shorter version of Rahim - the other guy from Paktofonika.
In the lyrics of Polish rap songs there are many words that are expressions that only us Poles can understand. The translator you are using does not translate correctly. So these texts may seem a bit strange to you
Because English is a global language with a lots of words with many use cases. There are many more difficult and complex languages. Polish isn't the most one but it is more difficult than English. I didn't wrote that to offend anyone.
From linguistics point of view "the most difficult language" doesn't exist. This is a myth repeated especially by Polish people xD Some languages have more complex gramma, other more phonemes, more cases, more tenses, but the "difficulty" depends mainly on the mother tongue of the student. For English speaking person Polish will be more difficult than German, but for Slovakians Polish is like a very strange dialect. And the translator is not correct because Polish is not a popular language and online dictionaries are not perfect.
It's even more powerful when you realise the song was recorded in traditionally religious Poland, when the title itself was enough to get the song rejected as too controversial. But the controversy (only superficial if one allows deeper interpretation) was something that we wanted to manifest - Paktofonika and K44 were the "bards" of my youth. You may know that Magic took his life - supposedly suffering from depression and anxiety. Back then military service was obligatory if you were not a student, so imagine a young, supersensitive artist and father facing the prospect of 1 year stolen from him. Anyway, in most cases genius comes at a cost. I recommend "Chwile ulotne" by Paktofonika and the most intelligent rap in Poland: Łona & Webber e.g. "Gdyby". The rapper is actually a lawyer :)
Actually, the image you are showing for all the time is Kaliber 44, not Paktofonika! The guy in front is Magik, who used to rap there and left them after 3 records to start new project - Paktofonika (with Fokus and Rahim). Guys in the back are Joka and Abradab, they are brothers, still writing songs as Kaliber 44. Magik commited suicide right after recording first and the only album of Paktofonika - Kinematografia. Fokus and Rahim still play, but as Pokahontaz.
This track, for many "thirty something" year olds in my neighbourhood is like highschool flashback. There was no internet, no money. Some cheap alcohol and illegally copied paktofonika cds. We were all poor, but much closer in friendship. That was something, what young homies today haven't got an oportunity to expierience. No matter if memories of these times are good or bad for particular individuals, they are ours.
I really like the way u making those reactions videos. Everyone can make a video where someone's listening the songs in different language, but translating them and trying to understand them is a bigger level. Thanks to you, people around the world can hear and understand the most polular songs form my country! :D Great work! :D As a next, u can do a video for Trzeci Wymiar - Murmurando
" Ha I Pe Ha O Pe, Bez reszty oddany " It means he is Completely devoted to hip hop. He says hip hop like that becouse now there is 11 syllbles, so there is rhyme.
Story time: Paktofonika was a Polish hip hop group from Katowice and Mikołów, which debuted with the album Kinematografia(Cinematography) in 2000. The name Paktofonika comes from the words pakt (pact) and fonika (phonics), from which derives the idea of "A pact made alongside sounds from a speaker" [Pakt przy dźwiękach z głośnika] Magik(eng. Magic) one of the 3, considered to be main dude among the trio, had schizophrenia and killed himself, jumped window from 9th floor, on Christmas 2000 (26.12.00) From that 2 remaining guys Rah and Fokus(eng. Focus) created Pokahontaz group which remain active to this day, still being dope as f :) P.S. There is movie made based on Paktofonika story "Jesteś Bogiem" 2012 , not sure if there are any eng subtitles but if there are I do recomand watching it :)
The full movie is still on RU-vid with english subtitles, uploaded as "Jesteś Bogiem (2012) - with subtitles" - that's how my non-polish speaking GF watched it with me back then. @PSHOW, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. It's a treat for hip-hop fans and it shows a clear picture of one of the most important hip-hop groups in Polish history.
Paktofonika is a band that was one of the first hip hop bands. It was the most popular team in Poland, one of them finally fell apart and the biggest star named "Magik" committed suicide (he jumped from the 9th floor)
Yes, there is a lot more from this group you should check! Btw. “Ha I Pe Ha O Pe” means HIP HOP. He says he is fully devoted to Hip-Hop. ( Ha I Pe Ha O Pe Bez reszty oddany).
Since you liked this song, I recommend watching the movie with a slight change of title, it reads "Jesteś Bogiem" from 2012 and it is a biography of the boys from Paktofonika. You can definitely find this movie somewhere on the internet or on a streaming platform with English subtitles :) Regards
Love You checked the lyrics before listening, this song is truely a legend in Poland, hope you mind checking the history of the artist as well, keep doin' what you do, high 5 ;p
Great choice Dude, Paktofonika definied as one of many squads high level of rap, this is timeless song - one of best classics ever was made in late 90' and early 20'
Next: Kaliber 44- plus i minus.
Check it out. Thx for Paktofonika. Kaliber44, PFK, and Peja also - its our deep roots of hip-hop in Poland. Big up! ŚP. Piotr "MAGIK" Łuszcz [*] Rest in Peace...
I've heard it (bc of you) for the first time after about a 10 years ago from now. Paktofonika was better than any rap we got here now - that's why i listen to punk rock. It's sincere. Maybe try once Siekiera - Ludzie Wschodu or something.
You asked what does it mean at 5:19 - "Cel, S-M-O-K na kartki biel" The goal, Dragon white as a sheet of paper(Dragon is one of his nicknames) "A-N-B-L-O-K E-J-B-L" Unblockable "L-l-lekko jak hel napełniam trwogą" With ease (lightly), like helium, I fill you with fear "I zapewniam jak wrogom kontakt z podłogą" And knock you down to the ground, like I do to my enemies
Ayyy man , respect for choose the song that trow me in to hip hop and this music ;) but one thing , this foto that you have is 'Kaliber 44' - yeah, Magik was one of three persons of Paktofonika. Back to 'kaliber 44' he was with them on first album "ksiega tajemnicza:prolog" - check the song "+ i -" alter name "plus i minus" . It was psychorap and it was something that never happend in Polish music in past years back in 90's ;p Im gonna watch you out Man , sorry for my english, Im from Poland but I like your attidude good luck and check it - maybe just for yourself ;) thanks for respect to my childhood music ;) good luck
one of the most important tracks of Polish hip hop culture, if not the most (sense: you can do everything what do you want to, how you want to, whatever who you are, how strong would be changing, be good as God, bless ya!), the nostalgic one is Paktofonika - Chwile Ulotne, about memories and unchangeable past. The tape/cd is about everything, you will find every answer in this masterpiece - Kinematografia, about future, possibilities, past, memories, layers, betrayers, fun, homies, girls which are like tv, changeable, collaborations, smoking pot, "ifs", and more and more. 20 years ago Kinematografia had helped went out troubles not just one man, and it is overtime. "Write lyrics as like you sign your name under every one verse", poetry, a masterpiece.
The Leader of the Paktofonika "Magic"=Piotr Łuszcz...unfortunately he commited suicide=jump from the 9th floor/upstairs...:( R.I.P. for Piotr...Greetings from Poland , Thanks
It's fucking awesome that you're trying to understand the meaning of the song as well! Try to hear this! : Nizioł ft. Popek, Kaczy, Murzyn ZDR - Jak nie my to kto Syndykat - Pan to nie ja God Bless!
Fokus and Rah are his people! It is not easy to translate polish rhymes. I am Polish and I grew up on this music, had been listening to Polish rap for almost 10 years day by day
