Cozumel is an Island and National Park located off the eastern coast of Mexico in the Caribbean Sea. The diverse ecosystem of coral reefs that is home to more than 1,000 marine species, is one of the best in the world. The reefs are primarily found on underwater cliffs, such as the world renowned Santa Rosa Wall. The reefs in Cozumel are protected under UNESCO, and are part of the much larger Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System which is the second largest reef in the world, stretching over 1,000 kilometers (620 mi) south.
Palancar Gardens is one of the many sites in the southern part of the island. Divers will enjoy hundreds of different colorful hard and soft corals, coral caverns and passages, a diverse variety of tropical fish, sea turtles, barracudas, sharks, etc. This video captures a glimpse of what to expect during the dive.
