That is a prime example of a pout video because he is expecting to magically pull the $1,600 art lono card and dendra I pulled both cards out of 7 packs that were left in an open box at my local card shop except for the Raichu card which I will buy it as a single I am pretty much done with that set not saying it's bad at all but I am looking forward to obsidian flame

Hell ya! I remember opening an Unified Minds ETB and pulling a basic GX, that wasn’t even playable. This was also when prices weren’t insane so I could’ve just bought any card from the set but wanted to play spin the wheel 😂

I stopped watching him when he tried to claim he did not manipulate the values of Full Art Trainers when the link between his video and the sudden increase was undeniable. If he owned up to it and said it was not his intention... okay fine. However to just lie about it? Unacceptable.
I like the negative criticism. Some creators are better than others. But you gotta collect how you see fit. Don’t care what others have to say. Take everything with a pinch of salt. You are your own person. Don’t let others tell you what you can or can not do.
I think you have a really good point. I’m actually so glad that Pokémon seems to have been able to self-correct their own market and allows for children and older collectors alike to be able to have an easier financial time acquiring some of their favorite cards. Ever since 2020 and beyond, Pokémon really took off and I think Scarlet and Violet has finally brought the TCG market prices back down to earth. SV and its future sets will definitely weed out the true collectors vs. “investors”, “influencers”, etc. Great video as per usual Opossum!
Exactly, they’re trying to ensure the longevity of the hobby with plenty of product for kids and players, they keep the hobby alive when the investments leave 👍🏽
@@OpossumBud Love this mindset, it’s what drew me to Pokémon in the first place. The hobby was never about money when we collected cards on the playground as kids, we just wanted to collect what we liked. Same holds true now 👍
Though that is true and I applaud Pokemon for increasing supply, the thing is that main sets from here on out will be bigger. SV base only had two JP sets and a few promos, Paldea Evolved has Three sets and a few more promos. So what we saw with SV is more of the exception rather than the norm. TPCi had mitigated the size a bit by making some card promos and if they are playable even more promos which is cool for those alternate art collectors.
Thanks to you, danny, and jluv. You three reignited my passion for Pokemon as I stopped focusing on money and dreading over buyouts. In all honestly i think his problem for not liking the set has more to do with the investment aspect with it especially with the scarlet and violet series a booster box is almost certainly guaranteed a special art making the cards more available for everybody. For someone who is more of a collector of trying to complete sets this is a blessing open a couple of booster boxes and buy the rest as singles. I like this new change but i guess he doesnt.

🤷♂ For the people that actually play the game Paldea evolved has been a great set giving us so many tools and new archetypes to play with. The return of N (in Iono) , Scramble energy (in reversal), and super rod was also very much welcomed in my neck of the woods that benefits almost all decks. Loving this set so far. Almost every pack I crack has something useful in it to me!
I'm a machamp collector. Favorite pokemon next to vileplume. Yup I'm a odd one. Personally I absolutely love that pokemon has mass produced awesome cards in these newest sets for people to pull that they don't have to worry about the set being hard to find and prices being hyped into another umbreon oblivion. im loving my paldea evolved pulls! TwiceBakedJake must have been twice as baked. I opened my booster box earlier this afternoon. 2 Ultra Rares (Noivern & Iono) and 1 Special Illustration Rare (Dendra). Everything else was an Illustration Rare or lower. Edit: And yes, the right side had bigger hits 😂
He’s right though. He’s not making the video for the point of getting only the iono expensive cards ect. He’s talking about trying to collect it from the point of view of a master set collector. If you want to complete a master set of sword and shield darkness ablaze 12 secret rares you could get from 6 booster boxes and finish the whole set. Chilling reign had 35 secret rare cards which is double that. The pull rates between darkness ablaze and chilling reign were essentially the same but the increase in size of the set and number of secret rares means you need to open twice as many packs as you did the darkness ablaze set in order to complete the set and find the SPECIFIC CARDS that you’re after. He says that in his video. It’s an incredibly frustrating experience and every collector that I know, will agree with me that opening packs of chilling reign is less enjoyable than opening packs of darkness ablaze when trying to complete the set. Comparing this to scarlet and violet, 16 secret rares and Paldea evolved having 36 secret rares, and both sets having the same pull rates, it makes complete sense that someone would be frustrated opening the packs with the goal of completing the set in mind. This is the point he is trying to make in his video, and I completely agree with him. The easiest solution to this problem as a collector is to just avoid opening packs for the larger sets after opening so many and just buy the cards you’re missing. He is giving good advice to stop people from opening the packs of the larger sets when they can just buy all the cards they’re missing much cheaper, this is a very relevant money saving suggestion towards people who don’t otherwise know about the sets size, amount of secret rares and how to collect sets efficiently. I completely agree with Jake here and I think you’ve been misled into thinking he is complaining about not being able to pull multiple of the same $$$$$$ cards due to his greed and wanting to make money.

This video was incredible. Paldea Evolved was an incredible set. I opened about 220 booster packs, and hit the Iono twice, the Pokémon SIRs, and the Tyranitar… Can’t believe that man was crying about opening 50 packs, and saying he wasn’t having a good time just because he didn’t his his chase 😭😭😭😭
LOL I love Paldea evolved, so many hits, so many chases. Sure some cards are harder to pull than others but thats just Pokemon cards in general. I was able to pull 2 Iono SIR's from 7 Bb's and a tyranitar. Didn't pull magikarp but i gotta tell ya, its still fun to open XD
I got really lucky with my first 9 packs -- I'm still waiting for my ETB but I got the Iono which wasn't really on my list and then eiscue and one of the tinkatink cards. It feels the same as SV base tbh -- if I wanted guaranteed rarity pulls etc then I would just empty my bank account on 1 of the new Japanese Booster boxes, instead of buying significantly cheaper english products occasionally. also -- if the pull levels were Evolving cries or Chilling pain / Fusion strike level then people would be complaining as well. I think SV is changing that slightly which is great, I love getting the reverses and at least a holo -- it's a good improvement alongside the pull rate. Juat a last thing -- this is the only way we can still gamble in pokemon after they had to remove the game corners from the video games lmao so yeah not everyone is going to hit that jackpot everytime and I think we forget that sometimes, me included.
These new pull rates are really exposing the investors from the true pokemon fans. I personally don't care if the most expensive card in a set is 10 bucks, that just means every collector gets great cards at a great price.
Paldea Evolved is one of my favorite sets to open lately. My chases for the set are the Full Art Falkner, Illustrator Eiscue(second favorite Ice Type after Mamoswine), Secret Illustrator Rare Grusha (I just love the art of him being in a cabin in a snowstorm), Grocery Shopping Fuecoco, and any of the Ghetsis Boss’s Orders. But the investment channels pumping up random cards always makes me laugh cause imo opening and collecting cards should be about having fun not oh this card is worth x amount of money.
He was a hypebeast youtuber during the hype, honestly surprised hes still uploading. I use to watch him but stopped when he had a video where called a bunch of playable cards that had value above being just bulk junk and realized hes super disconnected
He does this constantly where if the odds are in his favor he’s like “wow the pull rates are crazy in this set!” But if the rates are bad after like 10 packs he’s like “wow I can’t believe they lowered the pull rates!” 😂

Just buy the singles you want if you are gonna bitch about it when you don’t pull the number 1 stonker 42069 card of the set. It’s cards, it is basically gambling don’t open the packs if you can’t deal with swings in your personal pull rates.
As a collector I just buy the singles that I want so I judge sets based off the CARDS in it and not pull rates. And if I ever open packs I go in with the expectations that it's all random and I'm doing it purely for the fun gambling aspect, not to get my "money's worth" because that's never been the case no matter which set you open. Hard to break even when you get the best hits already

This set is an Awesome set for the players! It has soo many good card playable cards and really helping the format being more Paldea based I wish the "investment" channels would learn to enjoy the game these basics exs that are like 1 dollar are great for playing with Especially Ting lu , Chien Pao , and the starters!
@DarDarBinks yeah man u can usually build a pokemon deck for less than 100 ! Especially if u have lots of bulk hell their is a new deck that uses like murkrow and wattriel and it's super cheap
I bought my son 3 ETB's and he pulled plenty of great cards. The last box had the Iono Alt Art, which is a beautiful card in person tbh. But he got his chase card, the Skeledirge Full Art, so he was stoked even before pulling Iono. Jake just needs to be happy to be opening packs, enjoy the experience, and be thankful for what he gets. Sometimes you get lots of hits, sometimes you don't. It is what it is 🤷🏽♂️
Jake has lost touch with reality. To say Silver Tempest is a better opening experience is a bit of a joke when all you want is one card, the artwork on these first two S&V sets have been fantastic with improved pull rates. My son would not be disappointed opening a box of these, he's not driven by greed.

I am working a full time job and I don't have time to go crazy buying cards all the time! I'm so glad that pokemon is catering to people like me who don't have a ton of money or time to spend, but still want to get some cool cards for the binder 🤲 I pretty much collect only art rares bc I genuinely love the art. That's what the hobby should be about, the genuine love for it
why does pokemon company care about keeping long term value of the cards lol. I mean the shouldn't print it to the literal ground to where they sit on shelves but their main purpose is to make it exciting to kids and sell regularly, not for some 30 somethings to speculate on years down the line.
@@Bionicleforever because kids are a small part of what makes the game as big as it is. They need to have their set have value so that people want to buy it. It maintains the hobby allowing others to gain interest in it too
They aren't doing it for long term value. They are doing it because the experience is interesting enough that it will grow interest in opening cards for people that don't. The potential for value is going to be there, but they just want them to be desirable to begin with.

He's mad because he can't be greedy. Hahahaha. Just some quick math too. He said opened over 50 packs (so I set 60 packs as a baseline). Regular EX cards are *usually* 1 in 4 chance (25%). In Paldea Evolved, there are 16 regular EX cards. Take that 60 packs divided by 4 (every 4 packs is an EX) and it's 15. Those 50 packs don't even cover ALL regular EX cards. Even then, it's all chance. Not guaranteed. Dude wants to be greedy and is mad because the set is too good? Just wow. BTW, I love the "420 360 no scope" drop. We need some 1v1 Rust with Intervention's to settle these debates. 😄 Great video bro!
I've been opening cases of products. On the grand scheme of thing, the pull rate goes to 3.17 pack for a hit, but if you check pull rate for single product, it is just rough. Also, the amount of diferent card for every rarity went up about 50%, so it's harder to get a specific single cards. But we already know that. W/E.

Man, as a collector and content creator I am LOVING the new sets. Beautiful artwork and great pull rates mean that I get a chance to add some nice looking cards to my son's binder, my wife's binder, and my personal binder! And during my streams, it's not like opening up a booster box from SWSH where you MIGHT get an alt art, with SV and PAL you're guaranteed at least one SAR. This type of batching is great for collectors who want to have a better chance at pulling nice looking art and the kids who this hobby was invented for.
Glad I quit watching Jake a while ago, it's a shame that he's like this because I genuinely enjoyed his content at times but you're right about him flip-flopping I'm glad both Dendra cards are cheap, way cooler character than Iono imho and I love the artwork

Those that weren't collecting in yr 4-6 in school back in the 90s or arent from that era, dont know the struggle of trying to finish a set. Sets these days are way easier to finish then back then and takes the excitement out of trying to get that one card only a hand full of people had.

I opened an embarrassing number of packs over the weekend because it was my birthday and I didn’t pull any of the Fuecoco line or Saguaro, which are the cards I want the most for my personal collection, but oh well. I pulled a ton of shit that I can trade/sell to get my fire crocs and my Burt Reynolds the trainer card. Doesn’t mean the set sucks. I get annoyed when people can’t appreciate cards if they aren’t high dollar cards. If your collection has to be expensive for you to enjoy it, I honestly don’t understand why you’re in the hobby. Like, do you like Pokémon, or do you just like flexing on people? Man, idk
Jake complaining about not pulling an SAR/SIR in fifty packs. I opened like five JPN bbs and two ENG PC ETBs and didn't pull an SAR/SIR. Until I opened a Paldea Evolved BB and got my first one which is Tinkaton ex and I was very excited to pull it because me and Tinkaton have good memories together beating the Elite Four. That's +172 of packs, it felt so damn good to pull it. It's was like finding your favorite Pokemon shiny for the first time and it's shiny was the most badass thing ever. It makes me want to pull more SAR/SIRs even if I got to open +172 packs again. But, I hope it's not a trainer card. I got no hate for them but I just prefer pokemon cards more.

Wow its almost like gambling when buying booster packs, youre not guarantee a a SAR/AR. Just stick to buying singles imo. But in all seriousness, I absolutely love the set, and the artwork is amazing, not to mention more playable cards.
We opened 3 ETBs, one booster box and 3 booster bundles. We pulled some amazing cards on the channel. I just made a short showing our pulls. We got the Tyranitar and that’s all we care about. This set is great but honestly we’re kinda focused forward on Obsidian 🔥 flames
It's funny because I wasn't going to do Paldea evolved, but seeing TwiceBamkedFlake's comments, it actually sounds like this set might be good. I liked the Scarlet and violet hit rate, but wasn't a big fan of the cards themselves. I thought, why don't they just throw more stuff in here to catch.. these crown zenith-like pull rates are fun, but I want to see more cards that aren't super boring to me. I just don't like the Paldea region Pokemon. Might grow on me.. but I do like that they kept the good pull rates, but expanded the amount of hits. That's the secret sauce Pokemon seems to finally have figured out. We like "chase cards," but we don't want to be able to pull an entire booster box and possibly end up with just a single full art (like early sword and shield). Just load a set... like Crown Zenith Gallery in evolving skies' traner gallery slot. Moonbreon could still be just as difficult to pull as it is now.. but at the end of a BB opening I wouldn't have one decent card and a ton of bulk. If the Galarian Gallery was a subset in evolving skies... that's the kind of sets that I want to see. Tons of hits, but still very hard chases. I honestly can't stand that whole "Jake here and welcome to the hobby." Like he's the hobby. I just can't stand him. He sounds like a whiney little nerd. Just my opinion. I wish I could make his stuff not show up on my feed. Sometimes I click his videos just to cringe. I'll just end my rant here.. but, yes, this video is correct.
So I’ve opened 2 base set and 2 Paldea booster boxes. I got 12 hits out of each one. Either 2 SIR’s or a SIR and a gold were the best hits for each box. It seems that booster boxes have seeded hits. 11-13 like Danny Phantump has said. 12 is what I got for everyone. Other than that, all the other products are completely random. I’ve opened up a decent amount of crown zenith and still haven’t pulled one of the top cards. It’s just luck. I honestly can’t stand how Jake talks. Especially when he says Pokémon cards 😆 Also, the quality control has been terrible for me. Lots of cards have had frayed top edges for me.

I made a similar comment on his original video as something felt really off on this one and glad I wasn’t alone on it. I would take opening PE over ES any day yet poketubers continue to pump the most overloaded set with the worst pull rate like it’s the best thing to hit the hobby in 25+ years. This stuff just stops making sense sometimes.
First ETB I bought had the magikarp, I've loved basically every art piece even got an Aya Kusube. The art these days is so amazing each new set to me looks better than the last. I watched that video too and I'm glad you're speakin on it because it made no sense to me lol.
Lmao. A friend of mine opened 11 booster boxes. *eleven* and he go roughly 1 trainer and 1 Alt per box. He got one error box that I helped with opening - and I pulled 2 golds and 2 Alts with the iono. The pulls have been consistent. He’s just not happy about what he’s pulling.
This is one of those things where wearing your heart on your sleeve would garner a LOT more respect. Also, first time I learned Tyranitar's being featured in this set (I get my first English product this week) and I'm still salty about Battle Styles. Praying. LOL
I love the pull rates honestly and am happy this set is beefier. One thing I didn't like about S&V base was pulling the same exact card over and over again (although I still LOVED that set). Great video PE is great. As someone thats favorite Pokemon happens to be Magikarp, I love the hunt so far and the SIR/IRs they are amazing in this set. (121 packs in) Evolving Skies was impossible because of the pull rates.
The only issue I have is the set getting fattened up hurts when the LESS valuable Secret Rares are my desired cards. Me and my wife pulled the Tyranitar and the Chien-Pao Special Art Rare, $50 and $35 on TCGplayer at the time of this comment, 2 of the current top 5 most expensive cards in the set. Our only problem is, our chase is the Chi-Yu which is $16. Sure we could buy it but part of the joy is the story behind pulling your chase. When you're only in it for the top 3 pulls, yeah you look like a money grabber, but logically I'm kinda bummed that an Art Rare Rabsca goes into the same Secret Rare designation as some of these other ones like our chase the Chi-Yu or the Marill/Heracross or Frigibax evolution line. I do think Paldea Evolved is full of outstanding cards and I'm a huge fan of showcasing the 4 new legendaries and the 3 evolution lines of the starters.
But you’re getting fantastic art all around from the cards, but at least I get what you’re saying a bit more. You at least aren’t ripping into the same pull rate for expensive cards you didn’t pull out of 8 booster packs 👍🏽

These guys that post their pack rips and as soon as they pull a hit the value of the hit goes screaming across the video like it’s a Las Vegas slot machine jackpot got all these followers hating the actual pull rates and talking trash about the sets. Me and my son ripped 3 booster boxes, 2 etb’s. 3 3pack blisters and a handful of sleeved Paldea this weekend. Were we disappointed by not pulling the SIR Iono, yes, but were we also extremely excited about what we did pull, absolutely. We pulled a ton of great artworks and the only real complaint we had was the twice pulled Chi-yu ex from the same booster box. Keep calling these guys out bro!
Got absolutely nothing from a few SV ETBs despite the supposed better pull rates. Opened every single Crown Zenith product got some sick pulls but not a single gold card. It just be like that at times.

My impopular opinion as a Pokémon card collector; Regular EXs are way worse than regular Vs, which were 'full art' by default, now we're restricted to the same size picture as a regular card and the overall design is simply messy. Holos look way cheaper and have less interest now, even with metallic borders (no pattern on the holo or anything...), and the cherry on the cake are the full art Pokémon cards, which looked WAY better when the outline was white and not the same color the Pokémon is. It helped a lot aesthetically, helped the figure stand out, and Pokémon poses were, for the most part, way more dinamyc in the past SWSH sets. Sorry for the rant lol PS: Reverse Holos and regular cards look better now though. Just MY opinion.
@@OpossumBud I don't know really about pull rates, it seems the TCG is changing and now we'll have more cards at a lower price overall, but I could be wrong. That's in fact a good thing. But as a collector, all I really care is how the cards look. And EXs don't look precisely good. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way but most people seem to be enjoying the sets anyways, so good for them. I might just buy singles from now on, I'm not sure, so I keep collecting SWSH sets. Excuse my english Opossum, I'm from Spain.
