Have to laugh at all the "Why is Destiny even there" comments and "imagine Norm having to debate a youtuber on his lifes work" Yet they don't have examples of him being wrong and even Norm was reduced to name calling because he couldn't disprove anything he was saying. Benny, the actual historian agreed with all of Destinys points. The cope is unreal, that's not even mentining Norms own neighbor situation ... lol!

Norman Finkelstei and Mouin Rabbani are so disingenuous HAMAS broke a ceasefire and surprised people at a music festival: killed 250 unarmed civilians at the NOVA music festival and less than 20 additional people who were security or army at the site. That makes a civilian to soldier ratio of 10:1 IN GAZA - there is a war, so civilians were warned out of 30,000 death, 15,000 are HAMAS militant (Although Hamas refuses to say its casualty numbers to manipulate the number) so that's 15,000 civilians to 15,000 militants That makes a civilian to soldier ratio of 1:1 HAMAS kills 10 civilians for 1 soldier vs. IDF Kills 1 civilian for 1 militant and Hamas commits daily war crimes (Militants don't wear a uniform and hide under or amongst civilians) ITS OBVIOUS HAMAS has a greater genocidal intent whereas IDF has a military goal the only difference is the scale of the operation.

What people don’t understand, and I think Norman should’ve made this clear, is he was pressing Benny because he believes, as do others, that Benny is distancing himself from his prior words because of the views he espouses in recent years. I think Norman should’ve made that clear so Lex understood where he was coming from. I personally think it was obvious why Norman was holding a historian to his words, but I feel Lex is a bit too naive to get that.
@Ahmadj03
@Ahmadj03 6 месяцев назад
Spot on! You could tell how adamant Prof. Norman was to hold Benny Morris to account, but Lex seemingly wanted his buddy Destiny to get some airtime here, so he let him completely reduce what would otherwise be an intellectual conversation to a bickering back and forth on disjointed minutiae that Destiny would spew out haphazardly.

The actual reason is that Finkelstein quoted parts of Morris' books out of context. Morris then proceeded to correct him, to give full context. Neither Finkeldick nor his fans seem to comprehend the full context.

I love how everyone who says Norm took Benny out of context literally have never read a SINGLE word of Benny's books. “We didn't take a foreign land and we didn’t exist on the spoils of other nations, but on the lands of our fathers that through the years was illegally seized by our enemies. We, when we had the opportunity, restored our birthright.” _- Simon Maccabeus (135 AD)_ Simon Maccabeus led a Jewish army to defeat of the Seleucid Empire (Greek). This was prior to the migration of Arabs into Israel from Egypt, Jordan and Syria in the 7th century AD. Jews have lived on the West Bank since ancient times. The Judea and Samaria Area of the West Bank covers a portion of the territory designated by the biblical names of Judea and Samaria. Both names are tied to the ancient Israelite kingdoms: the former corresponds to part of the Kingdom of Judah, also known as the Southern Kingdom; and the latter corresponds to part of the Kingdom of Samaria, also known as the Northern Kingdom. After the War of 1948 17,000 Jews were expelled or ethnically cleansed from Jerusalem and an estimated 40,000 from Gaza and the West Bank. Jews were prohibited from living in those territories during Egypt's and Jordan’s occupation from 1948 to 1967. Jews were not allowed to worship at the western wall when Jordan occupied Jerusalem. Jews began to settle in the area again after it was captured by Israeli forces in the defensive war fought in 1967. Judea - Samaria - Jerusalem - Hebron - Nazareth - Galilee all names from the Christian Bible which came after Judaism but before Islam.

The question is whether the Israeli state is an apartheid state or not. The Nazis had many supporters in the world and even in the US and west in general right? The Koch and Bush families for example - to name a couple powerful families who supported the Nazis. And the royal family wore Swastikas as a joke. And then after the war Nazi scientists were given sanctuary and immunity in the US in our centers of industry, military, and intelligence. The underlying dissonance is the idea that a state can be a religious ethnic state but also be at the same time a liberal secular democratic republic.

The destruction of Gazan infrastructure could also be classed as an attempt to chase palestinians from Gaza as well as high civilian deaths. Add to this the popularity of a " greater israel" arising. If you look at other occupied land, beyond the boundaries of the 1948 border, those lands also have Israeli settlers. @FromTheAshes0762
@FromTheAshes0762 6 месяцев назад
It wasn't dishonest. It was the facts of the situation. If you look into the story, it was a drone strike, so the IDF did not see kids. They essentially saw 4 blips coming out of a shed in a fenced off area that the idf had previously known to be used by hamas. It wasn't the intention targeting of children like Mr. finklestein said, it was an accidental killing of children that the idf thought were hamas fighters coming out of a known hamas area. It does not make the killing OK it just makes it clear it was an accident, it was unintentional. Not the intentional murder of 4 kids accepted up the entire chain of IDF command.

On the common ideology of Zionism and Nazism, Rabbini and Finklestein should have quoted the following: On June 22, 1933, the leaders of the Zionist Organization for Germany sent a memorandum to Hitler, which declared: Zionism believes that the rebirth of the national life of a people, which is now occurring in Germany through the emphasis on its Christian and national character, must also come about among the Jewish people. For the Jewish people, too, national origin, religion, common destiny and a sense of uniqueness must be of decisive importance to its existence. This demands the elimination of the egotistical individualism of the liberal era, and its replacement with a sense of community and collective responsibility. No, Zionists did not collaborate with Nazis to kill Jewish people. The Arabs sought a partnership with Hitler to murder the Jews in Israel. Nazi war criminals FLED to Arab countries. Zionists hunted down Nazis.

It was mentioned that the West owes a lot to the Jews for giving social values but dont forget if it hadn't been for the Muslims, the West would be raveling in the dark ages. Then there would be any Belfore agreement. The West owes a lot to Muslims for sciences, astronomy, medicine, banking, and much more. So the West owes much more to Muslims.

Lex moderated this horribly. Finkelstein spent more time trashtalking destiny and Morris than debating. He was also screaming half the podcast. I don't care the reasons why Lex didn't want to intervene, it was a bad call. Finkelstein acts as a child, and should be moderated. At least Rabbani behaved like an adult.

Finkelstein’s apartment analogy is wrong. There were already Jews living in the region. It would be more accurate to say there are 2 roommates. And after a fire and remodeling the landlord (the British) decides to rearrange the living arrangements of both tenants. 1 of the roommates gets angry (the Palestinians) because they don’t agree with their apartment being shared with the second roommate.

THE POINT IS IT WAS THE "ZIONISTS" WHO INVADED AND OCCUPIED. Palestine was already the land of ARABS, JEWS AND CHRISTIANS.... ZIONISTS ARE NOT JEWS.

Question is who owns the apartment ? It is Palestinian land, and they country by law, you can see M. Rabbani pointed it and no one argued, it was in 5 hours verse.

@@a_yusuf the winner of the war owns the land. So after the Ottoman Empire collapsed after World War 2 the Palestinians didn’t really “own” the land.

No your metaphor is off. Because your implying 50-50%. The Jewish population was very small in the beginning of the century.

I realize Morris is defo a few notches above and far more literate and prolific as an author than Dershowitz, but sadly, he seems to share much in common w/ Dershowitz, like the double-speak and super Zionist spin on everything. The constant deflecting, etc. So sad. Really nice to see Finkelstein and Rabbani get some chance to enlighten during the discussion. "Destiny" is just annoying, mostly, but sometimes it's entertaining to see such a mismatch of wits.
