This speech reflects a world that has allowed an occupier to have successfully created a narrative that has hidden in plain sight the extent of its brutality on a people it has dehumanised and treated as lesser beings. He is pleading for the Palestinians to be recognised as equal value humans as we all should be considered. This speaks to the travesty of injustice to which the Palestinians have been and continue to be treated. This has occurred under the UN’s watch and is a stain and reflection of its ineffectiveness and US control.

Such a powerful speech, and it embodies all that many of us have been feeling over the past months. We appear to be at a critical point where the world can either choose the rule of law, or can continue down the slippery slope of US hegemony where might equals right. We have seen the US mercilessly vetoing the world's democratic call for a ceasefire in Gaza, shamelessly playing with words when children are being maimed and killed by the thousands. History teaches us that past civilisations have rotted from the inside, is this how the American Century will end? Is it not possible for the US to re-find it's moral compass? To hear the pain in his words brought tears to my eyes. Imagine having to beg for justice, for his people's suffering that has been going on for 75 years to actually be heard, from the same world organization that broke up his country in 1947 in the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine. The Palestinian people's perseverance and patience is beyond what the World should ask from any people. If the UN continues to deny statehood to the Palestinian people on their rightful land then certainly the UN has lost any relevance it may have once had. A brilliant, powerful and heartfelt speech! Thank you Sir for your eloquence. I am heartbroken that it is at all necessary. I am appalled at the actions of Israel. I am disgusted by the deliberate disregard the Israeli representative gave as you spoke preferring instead to glibly give his attention to his mobile phone and not even have the guts nor the humanity to look you in the eye. As a human being I ask that the UN fufil their designated role and take appropriate action to immediately bring a halt to the genocide that is being meted out to the People of Palestine and to hold Israel and its political representatives appropriately accountable.
