Very thought-provoking. The only part I’d like to challenge him on is his final point, that seeking Jewish allies in particular can detract from the long-term goal. I think that Jews speaking out is critical and more are needed. Yes “not in my name” with respect to genocide, and maybe just that, does not go far enough I agree. But if Jewish people start with that, they are partway to where he believes they need to get. They are already saying “the so-called Jewish state, that purports to represent me, doesn’t represent me, and in fact I oppose it” is very important. To start, to refute the ridiculous accusations of anti-semitism, and those accusations and the smears that come with them are real - but losing their power. By calling everything anti-semitic, the spuriousness of the charge (when its about opposing the genocide of Palestinians) is exposed.

At least one man with the name Shapiro has some sense in the matter.

I needed to see this after the latest massacre and all the comments "explaining" why it happened. I need to see there are normal, human, Israelis. What a breath of fresh air.

Isn’t idol worship why God caused the Israelites to be banished from the land of Judea twice over in the Bible? Doesn’t sound the modern Israelis learned the lesson. I believe it’s called the breaking of the covenant. And, what about “Thpu Shalt Not Kill” and “Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s House, Wife or Any Of His Belongings” and “Thou Shalt Not Steal” and “Keep The Sabbath Holy”?

This Rabbi is a very truthful person and a true Spiritual Being, May god bestow on humanity more people like him.

Many Americans do consider America to be a Christian nation, possibly a judeo-christian nation, which puts it in the same world as Israel being a Jewish nation. And, ostensibly, an American does not necessarily support America. Wish I could ask Rabbi Shapiro to clarify my confusion. Aside from these and some other questions, I think this is such an important conversation.

He said state of the israelis not the jews, but there are arab-Israelis / muslim-Israelis who denounce hamas and even fight in the IDF. I feel everything he's saying already makes it clear that Israel isn't the state of the jews because it's so secular. Jews have to be observant in Torah, it seems like many secular "Jews" are waking up to this, including those in Israel. But if you have Jewish genetics you can be activated from secular mode, to jew mode and become more torah observant.

So israel is the state of a religion, which sort of undermines what Judaism means.. for me personally I start not to understand this religion, I've read the torah and some of the talmud, through curiosity. These ideologys are more than a thousand years old and does not reflect the current day/days way of life, but how to deal with episodes that were presented in that era when the words were written. You can tell a bird is a bird by its behaviour, taking into account behaviour also has sub groups attached to it, The same is true for humans. I agree with traditions but when a persons or group of peoples traditions negatively impacts another group of people through behaviour, It's time to think how different are we from all other animal species, Some say they are great thinkers , but I wonder what you think about...

I know some Muslims and Palestinians will have a step back when hearing his advice for that Muslim speaker and Palestinians in general, but he spoke the absolute truth here. And I'm saying this as a Muslim. His whole series of points was that Zionism has hijacked the Jewish identity and transformed it into a nationalistic movement that now rules the state of Israel, claiming the state as a state for the Jews of the world, not just in Israeli borders. His point of seeking Israeli allies is very succinct, and all Palestinians and Muslims who are serious about peace and defeating Zionism should be looking to influence the Israeli people themselves to begin cracking the foundations of Zionism. This isn't just a fight to free Palestine, which is paramount, but to end the horrific ideology of Zionism and free the Jews from this ideology permanently. And maybe with that hypothetical goal achieved, then Israel can be transformed into a one state land where Israelis, Palestinians, Arabs, Jews, Christians, and the Muslims all can share nationality in and can live with equal rights, which should be the only long term solution for the land.

This changed my perspective, I hope everything he does helps bring peace to the Middle East

I definitely agree with his notion of citizenship and the need to end Zionism ideology, but nonetheless, this could be a unity cause for all the Jews that are also demanding peace and justice for the Palestinians. I don't think they are mutually exclusive. In times of struggle and war unity for the greater good is fundamental. I'm sure that the majority of Jews that stand with the Palestinian cause also understand the root cause of the problem.

G-d gave a portion of the Holy Land to the children of Ishmael. Based on Zohar Shemot 32A ------ [R. Hiyya then says] Woe is to the time that Ishmael was born into the world and was circumcised. What did G‑d do [to appease Ishmael]? He distanced the children of Ishmael from supernal cleaving and gave them [only] a portion below in the Holy Land on account of their circumcision. And in the future, the children of Ishmael are destined to rule over the Holy Land for a long time when it is empty from anything, like their circumcision which is empty and imperfect. And they will prevent the children of Israel from returning to their place until the reward for the merit of the children of Ishmael reaches completion. The children of Ishmael [i.e. the Arab nations] will cause great wars in the world and the children of Edom will gather against them and wage war against them, one on the sea, one on the dry land, and one near Jerusalem. And they [the children of Edom] will rule over them [the children of Ishmael], but the Holy Land will not be given over to the children of Edom. They are mentioned as dwelling in beautiful tents Sol 1:5 : 'I am black, but comely as the tents of Kedar,' see Psalm 120:5; compare Isaiah 21:16-17; Isaiah 42:11. The language here also means that that which constituted their principal wealth would come and enrich Jerusalem. The rams of Nebaioth - Nebaioth was also a son of Ishmael Genesis 25:13; 1 Chronicles 1:29, and was the father of the Nabatheans. They were a people of Arabia Petraea, and lived principally by plunder, trade, and the keeping of flocks. Dome of the Rock is the Third Temple. There are some interpretations of the Bible that suggest that the construction of the Dome of the Rock is prophesied in the Book of Daniel. Specifically, some people believe that Daniel 12:11 is a prophecy about the building of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." [Daniel 12:11] It is a heresy/unholy to think that Jews shall administer Temple Mount/Jerusalem as it had been clear in the Holy scripture that descendants of Ishmael/Arabs had been ordained by G-d to administer Jerusalem/Temple Mount.
