Palestinian-American Doctor Says 100+ Relatives Have Been Killed in Gaza | Amanpour and Company

The trauma of the war in Gaza can be felt across the world - particularly for Palestinian-American cardiologist Dr. Tariq Haddad, who has lost more than 100 family members. It was for this reason that he turned down an invitation from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the administration’s response. Instead, the doctor wrote a 12-page letter to Blinken accusing him of sharing responsibility for the killings. He joins Michel Martin to speak about his family’s story and why he believes the administration is complicit in the Palestinian death toll.

Agree with Dr. Tariq Haddad's decision not to meet with U,S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken who represents the failure of our nation to call for an immediate ceasefire to stop the killing, maiming, traumatizing, suffering, and destroying of Palestinians! Dr. Haddad's communication by letter providing a record of the facts was excellent!

The most unfortunate thing is that today Israel has another 129 kidnapped by terrorists, and as for the residents of Gaza, you should have seen the sights after 9/11 and 7/10. People in the streets are handing out candy and dancing, 75% of all Gaza residents are terrorists or collaborate with the terrorists. They are not completely innocent. It's just a shame that the Egyptians didn't want them every time Israel offered them to take Gaza under their control. And the Egyptians are not stupid, who wants a sick society that lives on terror and hatred of the Jews.

It sounded so awful on video but he must've been emailed and prepped for these questions before the interview given the very calm way he answers them. Like you, I cannot in good conscience even imagine voting for the Biden/Harris/Blinken administration ever again and I will never cast a vote for MAGA. I watched this segment on TV, turned the set off and went to bed when Michel Martin suggested Dr. Haddad might seem to some as grandstanding when he refused to meet with Antony Blinken. Before this she made a quizzical look, and the gestalt of her questioning was arrogant, performative and disrespectful. This is typical of mainstream media. Ego-centered, above the news, more than a little microaggressive, about themselves, deciders of who is worthy and who isn't, establishmentarian, herd mentality and conformist to the herd, which in "America" is that Israelis are the ones who matter. In the words of her colleague New York Times "journalist" Thomas Friedman, people in the MIdeast are parasitoid wasps and caterpillars - reminiscent of World War II Germany. This carnage will not end well for anyone. I, three year veteran of the U.S. Army, will not be voting for Genocide Joe. I won't be voting for a "Republican" either, but might write-in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who will be 35 on October 13, just in time for the election. November 5 is a long time off. I don't believe either criminal sociopath Trump or Genocide Joe will be their party's nominees. If I had my way, Genocide Joe would be in the dock at the International Criminal Court at the Hague. That of course won't happen, because the "U.S." has pronounced itself above the law. Meanwhile, I won't be watching this show anymore, which I don't like much anyway. Michel Martin isn't the only arrogant one there. Heh, I won't meet with Antony Blinken either. Or Genocide Joe. Not that they would want to meet with me, but I still can set standards. I sort of met Genocide Joe once, before he was Genocide Joe. It was after a speech in 2015. I waited as his limo passed by. The windows were tinted, and all I could see was teeth. I gave him my biggest grin, but even behind a tinted window he outgrinned me. Maybe it really was only teeth. He is a 100% politician, not much better than a row of teeth.

Know the history and you will understand. You could say why doesn't Israel take them in "temporarily" while they fight Hamas. Israel's mission was to target civilians, plus destroy all the infrastructure so there's nothing to go back to. Egypt knows they will never go back if they allow them in. It didn't start then, it started in 1948 when the first Palestinians were driven out of the new state of Israel and many, many times after that the Palestinians have been persecuted. Look at the West Bank where settlers have been taking over Palestinian land for years and today are being even more aggressive and violent towards Palestinians.

There have also been many public protests about the actions of the Israeli government in Israel. I wasn't talking about this interview in particular. Rather, I was asking why there are not interviews that actually focus on how Palestinians feel about Hamas, not just about their actions on October 7th, but as political leaders. Hamas is not an elected government but a military group acting as a de facto government of Palestinians in Gaza. Surely, this is a worthy subject of inquiry? Or do you just want to hear what non-Palestinians think about Hamas?

I started to watch this video regarding this man’s loss. Thinking this is so tragic. Now while I don’t think it was 100 then changed to 85…"but one is still one too many. But then after a few comments you lost me. Now I don’t believe a word you are saying. Israel left Gaza 2005. Was your grandmother an UNRWA teacher? I could refute everything you said with facts but it takes up too much room. So I will try to just get to the point. You are very misguided and lying. Israel left Gaza 2005. I do not believe your stories. How did you get out of this militaristic prison to go to school in the US and become a Dr and a citizen? You left out a lot, only saying things to enrage others. Who paid for your education? Not once did you mention Hamas. Why? Not once mentioned the hostages being held who are being raped,tortured and starved. To release them now! Not once did you mention Oct 7, and the celebration that took place in Gaza for the atrocities. Why are not asking for a cease fire from Hamas? Now that they are losing you want Israel to cease fire? What is wrong with you. You are no humanitarian. Research wars. The civilian toll in Gaza is less other wars. The IDF has taken more care in protecting the people than Hamas has. But you don’t mention that. The stats may not even be true. Hamas lies and apparently so do its people. Even the ones here in the US. And to say genocide? What is wrong with you? What was your real reason for this interview? To blame the US and Israel for a war that Hamas started? Did you vote for them? Are you a supporter? There is so much more to you than just an innocent Dr whose family was killed. Your real silence not your defamatory rhetoric said much more. You not mentioning the real evil here was deafening, and silence is complicit Dr. I hope your colleagues take notice. I pray you wake up from your grief and see the truth of what is and stop spreading lies.

The arabs could have keft! Iarael even had a ceasefire to allow gazans to leave! Toy could have left. How long do u remain a reugee! So funny My grandparents escaped Europe with nothing. No one helped them.

I have gained so much love, respect and appreciation for the Palestinian people. They are so kind and generous and although nobody deserves this kind of suffering, they least of all! They are the owners of the land being displaced and humiliated by the racist colonizers.

Because their corrupt leadership prefers handouts from the UN and support from countries that want to continue the conflict, out of their interests. What do you suggest, after nearly 70 years?
