To be honest with you 40% is really tender :D we tend to say that 40% pálinka is not even real pálinka. Next time try some home-made pálinka. Those are usually above 53% and sometimes even above 70%. Although I'd say really good pálinkas are around 50-65%. And if you like shots I really recommend trying Slovakian Tatra Tea (52, 62 or 72%, those are the best). You may even be able to try those in America.
