I've been at chep for 17 years I have seen it all I'm a forklift driver automation has killed these places I don't know how it's set up there but here in Kansas City everything used to be manual guys would do 500-700 repairs daily mostly sorting of course but since they put all these automation machines they only hit 100-200 pallets there's literally days we ship out more B stock than C stock to other companies so they can repair them our company tried everything even 3 shifts and it still doesn't work out they even went back to 2 shifts cause they were losing money. Now sadly the company is gonna be under new management some place from California is gonna come and change everything I don't know how, I kind of have a feeling they are gonna get rid of everyone and hire illegals one by one. It's truly sad they are gonna dock our pay probably start over as a new employee I guess it's time to find something else. The company has just gotten to soft on mostly the builders (repair men) they do what they want and they are happy just making 100-200 pallets a day cause they still get paid well they cherry pick the pallets and all of that stuff.
Wow. What u said describes everything we have been thru exactly. Wow. We use to be manual now it's all automation. Then we had all those problems u said so the company sold out to a third party. Then hired a bunch of illegals. Now repair operators don't get hourly and piece rate . It's only piece rate . Been here 7 yrs. And what u explained the ups and downs is 💯 the same here
Good repairs & good pace! I start pallet repair next week for a place in PA. Any tips you could give? From what I can tell, they do both the blue chep pallets & the lighter ones with stringers instead of blocks
God bless you sir I got a question I am collect the pallets back from our customers here in middle East pallet type B1210A My question there pallets that are heavy and some are light coming from this type it is the same material ??
So if my boss is telling me that I need to replace a board on every single pallet even the good ones, is that to much? Also, they’ll make us repair straight scrap pallets. Like the whole top half of the pallets and like 4-6 blocks will be missing. I’m curious because the way they run things where I’m working at seems straight backwards as hell and only certain people are making decent money. Or new people are only making piece rate which here is $16, and that’s all they’ve been making for months.
@@LetsGoBrandon739 just depends on who your costumers are. We only repair premium pallets now. Our sort runs the ru plus pallets. If the pallets in spec don't do anything to it. Otherwise your wasting time and money for u and the company.
Hi, what country is this job in... I also work for Chep (Chile) and the job is similar. I would like to know how is the work system and its remuneration. Thank you.
We just got the board spreader installed not that long ago so it was more out of old habit lol. But they've now taken the pry bar so I guess I won't be reaching for the ole pry bar anymore lol. Thanks for the positive feed back bro
Ok that’s good and yes I understand the adjustment it’s tough but you will get use to it! Bowling green tell Dustin skipworth Joseph from Knoxville says hey!!
@@josephmillin78 hey bro Dustin says hey. And after talking to him I've actually watched videos of you building using the spreader. Your pretty damn good man. You should come tour our site.
So how do you stay mentally stimulated during this type of work? Do you daydream often? I know it is physically taxing and have to pay attention, but was just curious. Thanks for what you do!
That first pallet the b1 had a big gap missing at the end more than 3 inches that doesn’t pass And on the 3rd pallet that middle bk2 had nails all sticking out Bro you throw a lot of trash
Hey real talk. U gotta learn yo spec. The middle b1 was missing wood on the inside the leading edge was good. And for the middle bk2 you can have nails sticking out. It's inside the diamond rule. Learn your spec and you can make some good money. You are over repairing bro lol
@@Siuuu906 it will pass if it's within the diamond rule. Go ask your supervisor if it's OK in the diamond rule or not.. Lol u overepairing bro. If it's within spec don't fix. Nails around the middle block is perfectly fine. Been doing this for 5 years bro always have 95% quality or more. Quit hating. Better yet make some videos showing me how it's doing. Have a blessed day.
