Pallet Wood Can Crusher

I decided to make a Can Crusher from some pallet wood. Adding a routered channel for a pin, helps the plunger stay aligned, but this is not necessary. 3 coats of spray lacquer helps to protect the wood from beer spillage.

I saw a man whos hand had been dragged into a router. Lost the thumb. Clever surgeon took bone and flesh from his forearm, still attached, and moved it over to his hand so he has a sort of opposing stump where his thumb used to be. Love your hands...you take them for granted.

My grandfather lost half of the last bit of his middle finger because of dangling cuffs over a jointer. Later he lost his ring finger because he was wearing gloves to keep his sensitive nub warm. He gave up woodworking after that.

You have way (WAY!) better pallet wood than what we have in the USA.

Hullo young man. Nice wee project to do on the end of a beautiful day and a cold beer to finish it of (the day). The only down side was the bit's of torn shirt sleeve's hanging so close the fast turning blade's. You silly burger. Love to your nice family.

I recommend drilling a flat piece of metal on the crusher part and the base where the can is placed

*_Keep that brain working: your crusher is a GOOD EFFORT, but, you remain a short ways from home._* Although it is not new, I do like the concept ... if you can take it those few extra steps. In general, may I suggest a few METAL PARTS; putting a metallic top and base on the two wood pieces --- that wooden top and base, against those many metal cans, certainly won't have much longevity --- and use metal for the handle and the handle axle. *_CHEERS! The World needs more solid homespun inventors. I'll tip a cold one for you!_*

Sorry man, Im not going to check the comments to see if anyone has already said this but ROLL YA BLOODY SLEAVES UP. Also, why did you kink the can a little first? Aluminum or steel can?

Great pallet wood project there. You'll be able to drink more now that you are saving space in the bins.

Using fully threaded bolts for pivot pins is a quick way to wear out the wood inside the holes. Carriage bolts, with part of the shaft non-threaded would be better. Plus the geometry needs a tweak...all that work and the can only gets crushed halfway?

I’m at a loss as to why you abandon the can crusher for a router table. The mill work was nice but mostly unnecessary. But I did gather the mechanical workings so thumbs up.

Good lord i know right. Freaking common workshop safety practices and he is failing miserably. My highschool shop teacher would have had a fit and chewed this guy out infront of the hole class followed by two days of safety worksheets and a quiz before he would allow the offender to continue his project.

How many power tools does it take to make a "simple design" can crusher?
@andy.elliott.foreverpens
@andy.elliott.foreverpens 2 года назад
Quite a few. But the title of the video isn't "Pallet wood can crusher with limited tools", is it?
@The.Alabama.Woodsman
@The.Alabama.Woodsman 2 года назад
@@andy.elliott.foreverpens You are absolutely correct. But, it takes thousands of dollars in tools to make what I can buy for $40.00? Videos like this tend to be created to demonstrate how smart the creator is. Don't get me wrong, you are very smart and talented as a woodworker and creator. I was just looking for something a bit less complex.

No its not. Seems like a nice enough guy, but the aesthetics of the object seems to have taken precedence over its functionality. Id rather a slightly uglier unit that crushed a can flat, no?? I tend to build with the purpose as main focus, then work on the aesthetics. Maybe that's just me though, who knows?

Ironically no it wasn't (by a long shot) as it didn't really crush it that well. My Jawhorse can crush better but still good effort!

Não gostei. A sua latinha fica muito mal amassada. O correto é ficar bem amassada com +ou- 2 a 3 centimetros de espessura, somente. 👎
